Even from the outside you can see that this petrol station is quite nice. We stopped to get some snacks on the way to the park. It was very convenient as it has a bit more than the average petrol station as well as a Subway. I like that more petrol stations are offering options like Subway... just because it is a convenience store, doesn't mean I want to eat burgers and chips all the time. And if you don't want Subway, you can pick up other sandwiches, veg, and fruit. All of it looked quite fresh and enticing! In addition, they offer Costa Coffee and a small selection of bakery items. And as we were waiting in the queue at Subway, we were able to connect to the free WiFi. When it is busy, finding parking if you are not filling up can be a bit tricky, but I find that to be a problem at most petrol stations. Overall, it is a really nice petrol station and I wish it were closer to us so it could be our usual petrol station.

They actually took the effort to get to know you over a period of time, and it's a shame in some ways we moved elsewhere in Bolton and now don't use them as much. I wouldn't have said they were the cheapest place in town -- the petrol always seemed cost a couple of pence more than the lowest price locally, and as usual if you want to buy anything else there you'll pay heavily for the convenience factor -- but if you want a friendly petrol station, this is definitely the place to go. Or at least it was a few years back!

BP Bridgeman Place is in Bolton town centre, a short walk away from the bus/rail station. They have…read morea small shop which as a Subway inside, and a coffee machine as well as Amazon Lockers, so the overall facilities is OK. Petrol is a tad expensive here, pretty common for BP, I did find the petrol prices weren't as bold and obvious and the sign outside was much smaller than most other petrol stations, I didn't notice it at first anyway. Prices are also high in the outlets and the store. I wasn't impressed with the service either, a man who worked in the service station seemed to come over and shout over me in a foreign language to talk to the Subway staff, I get they're bored as it was a quiet day but they seemed to wait until a customer was actually there in order to shout, and it left me feeling rather uncomfortable. There wasn't much of a parking area for people who just wanted to go to Subway or go into the store without getting petrol, without feeling like getting in the way. I do find it strange that on the websites of businesses located here including Subway and Amazon Locker, they call it "Shell Bridgeman Place", my only guess is that this was recently a Shell garage before being converted over to BP, it still was pretty confusing as I was expecting a Shell Garage here. 3* - OK, the location in the town centre is handy, as well as housing a poor Subway branch but still one of the few non-halal stores in the area.

It's…read moreeffectively on a one-way street so access is much easier if you're heading towards the A666 and out of town. It's often one of the cheaper petrol stations in town, but it's rarely the cheapest. The shop is small, and sells the usual sorts of things at the usual sort of (over-inflated) prices. They used to (and may still) have a car wash (one of the few Shell garages in Bolton to have one) -- I used to use this quite a lot and it was an effective machine. The staff were invariably friendly and efficient. All in all, not a bad petrol station at all.

This Shell garage certainly enjoys a prominent position on the ring road around the north of…read moreBolton, and as such it always appears to be quite busy, even at quieter times of the day. This is despite the fact that it doesn't seem to be the cheapest petrol station in town -- not for petrol and certainly not for other things, where you end up paying the usual premium for shopping at a convenience store. It's quite a small filling station -- there aren't a huge number of facilities to speak of -- but all in all it does what it says on the tin.
