I was very hesitant to visit the dentist because of fear of having work done. After talking to some friends they recommended Bozeman Dental Associates to me. From the moment I walked in I knew this was a different office. The staff is so warm and welcoming and the doctors are so kind and understanding. In my initial consultation I expressed my fears of getting work done and we decided that oral sedation was the best route to go. They were able to get all of the work done in one appointment after the consultation which was so great. The oral sedation took all the fears and pain out of having work done. After not going to the dentist for a number of years out of fear I can truly say that I no longer have a fear of going and am so happy to have a bright healthy smile thanks to this office! read more

The one women at the front desk, who I think is in her 60's or looked like it, is not very bright!! Had an appointment and went in and they "Oh no, it's for next week." Told them that is not what I was told so had to reschedule it again! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!! Update: What a joke of a dental facility!! They told me that we were no longer a good match since I posted this review so I must have hurt their little feelings. Couldn't be happier with Bozeman Dental Associates! I called as a new patient with a broken tooth, and they got me in right away. Everyone in the office was friendly and professional, and I couldn't be happier with the work of Dr. Cerven and her hygienist McKenzie. They did a great job of explaining everything and taking care of my problem and even helped me get financing. A few weeks later, I called about a potential issue with my crown, and within half an hour I was back in the chair getting things taken care of for no cost. We love Bozeman Dental Associates! We worked with Cameo, Caroline and Dr. Lyons. My 4 kids and I all got cleanings and check ups. Caroline so great with the suggestions (water pick, possible orthodontist in my sons future, suggestions on floss, and help with my grinding - which I didn't realize I was doing till she told me). My 7 year old needed a filling. They got us in quickly for the filling which was so convenient. Dr. Lyons and Cameo were so thoughtful and careful with her and she had a great experience. I don't normally right reviews but i am appalled at the care i received from bozeman dental associates. Dr. Mortenson examined my x-rays and let me know i had 2 cavities and should have my wisdom teeth removed. I scheduled an appt with doctor lyons to have my wisdom teeth removed and cavaties filled. I live 5 hours away and the front office staff worked hard to get me in as soon as possible. When I arrived at my appt I was told they didn't have time to fill my cavaties today. I was very pleased with the care I received from dr. lyons and was okay with the fact they couldn't fill my cavaties that day. I scheduled an appt for January 9th before leaving the office to have my cavaties filled. This is when things took a turn and i became dissatisfied with quality of care I was receiving. I called the office at 1 pm the friday before my appt because my insurance had changed and wanted to make sure they took my new insurance before driving 5 hours on monday for my appointment. no call back until monday when we were half way to bozeman i get a call back. Left a voicemail with my info because yet again they did not answer the phone. Continued driving to bozeman and 20 minutes after my appt time i received a call back to which i never returned as I was extremely frustrated. I then had my x-rays that were taken at Bozeman dental associates sent to my new dentist. I had an appointment with them this morning to find out that I have an abscess above one of my teeth and need a root canal. As someone who has spent 10s of thousands of dollars on my teeth i am extremely upset that they missed this. Will never be returning to this office and highly recommend you don't either. read more

I went to Dr Mortenson some years ago for a tooth cleaning and checkup. He identified a large cavity that needed attention (just one) and re-scheduled me. On returning he found 7 other cavities that he proceeded to drill and fill while I was in the chair, mouth open. Every one he showed to his assistant. I haven't had 7 cavities in my entire life prior. He then ran out of time and never filled the one cavity I had scheduled to have filled. He wanted to re-schedule again and I left in disgust. To my discredit, I let this behavior go and even failed to follow up with another dentist, eventually getting a root canal done on the one bad cavity. My next dentist repaired the one tooth with a root canal and informed me that the white fillings I had received have a 7 year life span. So I can look forward to all of those fillings failing and requiring repair. I should have gotten out of the chair and ran from the office for a 2nd opinion! Use at your own risk! read more

Long story short, Went in for my first check up last year and the doctor told me that I had two cracked feelings. After she "fixed" them I was in more pain then I was before I went in. My Jaw was sore for a couple weeks and my teeth were sensitive to hot and cold beverages. I found out the lady who "fixed" my fillings got fired. Couple months later Dr. Mortenson then re-did them at no charge. After he re-did the fillings I was still in pain and couldn't floss in between my two teeth because he also did not put them in correctly . As you can see in the pictures. Went in for the THIRD time complaining about still not being able to floss between my two fillings and that I was still in pain. A different doctor was able to make it to where I was able to floss normal again. He was embarrassed by Dr. Mortensons work. You would think Dr. Mortenson would fix the lady's mistake the second go around. Luckily I can floss between the two teeth they are still sensitive to hot and cold beverages and sweet foods. It was a horrible experience. Would not recommend this dentist. read more

Dr Mortenson and his staff at Bozeman dental are nothing but top notch! My family has been going to them for dental needs for since 2008. We have always been nothing but beyond satisfied with our services there. Always clean and everyone is so friendly. I am a complete chicken when it comes to having any work done on my teeth but once I mentioned that I felt they took extra care with me. We are a family of 6 so we have had a lot of work done here. I had a terrible experience. I had a pretty simple filling. That not only had to be done twice. But, fell out while I was flossing. The other filling that was done was poorly shaped and left a jagged edge that caught on everything. Needless to say I'm with a new dentist now and all of his mistakes have been fixed. I would not recommend Dr. Mortenson's practice. I received treatment for a cavity about a year ago and went back to him a few months later because of continued discomfort on that side of the mouth. Dr. Mortenson advised me that no treatment should be pursued and that simply, "I would may have to live without eating popcorn." A few months after that I sought treatment at a different practice because the pain persisted. Upon exam, it was discovered that that same tooth had not been sealed and was indeed continuing to decay. When I contacted Dr. Mortenson about this issue and asked for assistance in paying for the 2nd filling of this same tooth, he refused to help in any way. Needless to say, I do not recommend Dr. Mortenson and encourage people to seek oral care elsewhere in Bozeman. read more

I am very happy with Dr. Mortenson! He has always treated me the way any Doctor should treat his or her patients. Dr. Mortenson did a couple of caps on two of my front teeth and did an awesome job. Six years later, one came off which was not any one person or reason for this happing. Dr. Mortenson started the procedure to replace that cap and made me a temporary cap until the next one was ready. I made an appointment towards the end of October to get the replacement done. The reason I was willing to wait for the later appointment was Dr. Mortenson was on medical leave for surgery. Well, a few days before the appointment and I was asked if I could postpone the appointment because Dr. Mortenson was still on medical leave. I asked to see if I could have the cap replaced rather than wait a significantly longer period of time to replace it until Dr. Mortenson returned. I am a school teacher and it is very difficult to get substitutes on a moment's notice, so I actually did not have the time to line up another substitute by the time Dr. Mortenson was set to return. They scheduled me with another Dentist and not only was her techniques unlike Dr. Mortenson's, but that particular pain was handled very differently than the pain techniques that are advertised! Well, I gave this dentist the benefit of the doubt and let them finish. Well, the cap did not fit and they had to do another temporary cap and come back in two weeks. I made an appointment believing that my Doctor would be back and that he would be finishing up my work. I came to the appointment and was surprised to see the dentist that filled in for Dr. Mortenson. I should have protested then, but I let them finish. Well, the pain didn't change and their actions weren't something I would call of a bedside manner. No matter how tolerant of pain a person is, a dentist visit is still very hard for many people. I chalk it up as a bad experience, but a very expensive one that was sub-par treatment at best and may just cause me to find a new dentist, where I can feel I won't be abandoned for someone new. Let me make this clear the staff is top-notch and make you feel very comfortable, but the dentist makes it all come together. read more

I am very disappointed with the work I've received at Bozeman Dental Associates. After my first visit, I had a filling fall out and was left with a sharp edge and high sensitivity. I went in and got it fixed. Now, 3 weeks after getting it fixed, it has fallen out a second time! I went in to have a filling replaced that had fallen out. I made sure to tell them this when I made my appointment. When I arrived, they did a cleaning and were able to "squeeze me in" to have the filling replaced. Dr. Mortenson also recommended that I get 2 other fillings as well. I should have been more hesitant because I'd been going to another dentist every 6 months for cleanings before this, and I was always told that my teeth were perfect. I agreed to go along with Dr. Mortenson's treatment plan. It was a different dentist that did the fillings. He seemed very inconvenienced and rushed through, actually to the point of doing a filling in the wrong tooth. He didn't realize that my wisdom teeth had been removed and miscounted. I have seen Dr. Mortenson for the past 5 years with no complaints. However, in the last year, I have felt an undue pressure to have treatment the same day as my xrays. Today I got a second opinion based on xrays taken at Dr. Mortenson's office. The second opinion showed I needed treatment but only a fraction of the treatment plan as proposed by Dr. Mortenson.
