This has been my go-to mode of transportation lately when traveling to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport or Miami International Airport. Parking is simple, the staff is knowledgeable, and prices are low (typically $6-$10 max). It's also easy to navigate with luggage and small children. As with any situation these days, you must stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings while traveling, but I've honestly had no issues. This is not a luxury experience but it is cost effective. I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the low-cost public transportation we deserve as tax-paying citizens.

It might not necessarily be Amtrak's fault, but surrounding trains and other complexities make the Amtrak not a great way to get around. There are plugs available for electronics against the wall if you like the window you have an easier connection but it can be used and cord across. There is room for luggage under the seat in front of you and under your legs and on top of needed. There is no extra charge for luggage. You are allowed a personal bag and another bag too per person. You can bring your own food but hey also have a cafe area where you can purchase drinks and food. The bathrooms are like an airline bathroom some do need cleaning especially on way back south bound Staff at location always nice and knowledgeable. Staff on the train depends I have had some really nice ones a lady I had couple of times but others not always as accommodating. This trip, I asked for a window seat since I got on first but they put me somewhere else and others who came after me ended up with 3 seats across and many seats still available. On the south bound train it's more difficult to get a seat and bathrooms usually need cleaning .They also offer semi and private car for upgraded fee. It does give you the freedom to relax . Now you need to bring only "Carry On" style luggage unless you get on in Fort Lauderdale or Delray Beach. Amtrak cut out the baggage service back on 8/29/2017. This is an old station and it is manned, has an air conditioned waiting room on the platform.

A quiet station. A peaceful station you might even say…read more The Boca Raton Tri-Rail station is not like many of the other stops on the Tri-Rail. That is because it is not right next to the highway compared to some. I have been to this stop very early in the morn and felt pretty safe from some stuff going down. Most train stations in the U.S. and in the world in general are sketchy spots to be, especially after dark; this spot not so much. It's a tranquil spot actually. It is up against part of the El Rio Trail. That's a trail that runs north and south through Boca Raton. I have jogged this trail or bicycled the path up and down and it's length. often I will cut in to the tri -rail area to take a break or add some feet to my distance covered. It's always a relaxed place. Often there is people taking there bike off the train there as they can continue there commute home from there. I have been to a few other Tri-rail spots in South Florida that were good as well. None were better than the Boca though.

The only way to cross from one to the other is to walk to Lake Worth Road and cross the tracks along the street. This is a real bummer for anyone with luggage and perhaps an impossibility with anyone with assisted devices or mobility issues. With no notices about this on the Tri-Rail website or at the station or the parking lots about this, people - like me!- get dropped at the main, huge parking lot on the east side, only to find out by trial and error that they should have gotten dropped off on the other side. I even checked the tri-rail website beforehand to see if any notices were up about this- and when I saw none, I assumed the construction had finished since my last tri-rail use. Nope! I watched others struggle with their luggage to get to the other side. Please add signage and notices in-person and online.

Besides the Downtown Miami station, the Cypress Creek Tri-Rail station is one of the best on the…read moreline. It has a creative architectural design that makes it more pleasant to not only look at, but inhabit and circulate. My standard critiques that the station and rail lines were evidently contemplated to build upon the locational efficiencies next to the freeway exist, but at least in addition to facing a (too) massive surface vehicular parking lot, it's design is carried through to the bus stops and on the other façade, faces mid-size office buildings within nearby walking distance that it proves its utility in its immediate context. Otherwise, it is unfortunate that this station is disconnected from the more walkable areas of Oakland Park/Wilton Manors, thus relying more on automotive transportation for the "last mile" travel - again, partially but proactively made-up for with the bus/public transit integration by the cities and County. I must continue to emphasize as with other Tri-Rail stations, there's not enough benches nor trash cans. There's also the standard anxiety if the train is coming, if you're on the right platform, the trains don't run late enough. But I must say in sum, it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-suburban-car-dominated-megalopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better.
