I can no longer engage the parking brake using the button despite the car being in perfect working order when i handed it over to the tester. Very little assistance from the so- called Team leader, they should be ashamed of themselves. They tried to convince me that there was an issue with it pre test even though the car PASSED?? I would seriously question what qualifications their staff have if they can't even operate a parking brake without completely wrecking it. Take pictures and videos before your test because these guys don't care what damage they do.

watching your car go through the series off tests on all the machines is almost as scary as doing…read morean exam or doing your driving test! its so funny to see all the noses squashed up against the glass watching and waiting anxiously like a first time dad to be, then the moment waiting to have your name called and told your car has passed; or not if that is the unfortunate case. in the last couple of years the Nct test is getting harder to pass and if the car fails on a small technicality such as broken windscreen wiper they give you 28 days to do a retest, unlike a couple years ago you could drive to consort, get a new wiper and be back half an hour later and get your passing certificate. but suppose having regularly tested cars means safer vehicles on the road.

There is a waiting room up high with windows that enables you to look down at your car in the garage, a bit like in a maternity ward in a hospital. Lots of anxious pacing parents waiting to hear their fate. I give it three stars as an NCT centre is never going to be a pleasurable place to spend your time, and also a cafe or something wouldn't go amiss. They have a vending machine but that's about it.

I am waiting as I write this feeling like an expectant father... maybe this is what a maternity ward should be like... all the mothers lined up under a viewing gallery with the public watching on, commenting on technique and trying to read the doctors facial expressions... er...maybe not! The toilets are a bit basic but then, what do you expect in a big garage?

There is no data driven approach to these visual issues. It feels like you are forced to spend on your car every time you take for a test, so there is constantly a business running around tests and mechanical fixes. The NCT standards are poor with visual checks as there are no data behind it. Their service pace is good and their work ethic is good, but there is a gap on other important things that will cost you a lot of money.

I am glad I did not do it at their place. My mechanic just used a certain liquid and after 2 minutes the "haze" was gone. He said I could try to use a toothpaste next time as it works sometimes in this case. My mechanic did not charge me for it at all! So try other places before you repair anything at Crofton Motors.

Had to get tracking done and asked if they could identify what the knocking noise could be on my…read morecar which was to do with the front suspension, they have checked and noticed a part which was on its way out that another mechanic didn't identify. Got booked in a week later, on the day after changing the parts the noise has indeed reduced! But there was something else causing the clunking noise.. they gladly invited me to come back around a few hours later after i called in. We did a test drive with one of the mechanics who was very helpful; he has lifted up the car again and checked through again and has found that the previous mechanic didn't tighten the droplinks correctly. He has tightened them correctly and long behold the noise was completely gone! No extra charge and a lot of peace of mind!! Would recommend!
