The third time I actually made the appointment but when I got there they told me that the doctor wouldn't see me because I had missed the two previous appointments. So I made an appointment with Ohio Valley Eye Institute and they setup my appointment right away. I've been told that Talley Eye Institute makes patients wait for hours. They're rude and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemies.

Reading off little letters, eye drops, struggling to keep your eyes open through the blinding lights, the whole "which is better - A or B" contraption - it is all something of a blur. All I know is following the battery of exams, the doctor, Dr. Weyer, concluded, I am in need of bi-focals. I just stared at him for a minute while I processed what that meant. When my witts returned to me, I queried, "you mean I need the same proper glasses my dear old grand dad sports?" I then spent an hour trying to find frames that I could learn to live with. I found a few options: Nautica, Burberry, and Calloway. As I was trying on one pair of squared thick black frames, one of the assistants said, "Those make you look like a professor." Dryly, I said, "I am a professor ... so ... these make me look normal then, do they?" I settled for a blue frame from their Nautica collection. They are not huge, but large enough to support a normal upper half as well as the Hubbleness of the lower bifocal half. So there we are - one week later and I just received my new proper glasses. I am getting used to them; when they are on, I feel as if I have a full face motorbike helmet on. Although this has been an unwelcome milestone along the aging process, the employees at the Vision Care Center were extremely friendly, helpful, and patient. Vanity aside, I can see, so I guess that is the most important thing.

Nominal wait time (less than 10min past appt time) before I was greeted by my optical technician, Janie. My history was reviewed and the preliminary assessments were performed. Janie performed hand hygiene prior to administering eye drops. (although this is standardized and should never be skipped, I always recognize and thank my care providers for adhering to hand hygiene practices!) Dr. Green was my optometrist today. He was pleasant, thorough and professional. He, too, performed hand washing prior to conducting the exam. Adequate time was given for my questions to be answered. My Rx had not changed, so of course there was no need for new glasses. I was provided a copy of my renewed eye prescription without having to ask for it. Absolutely no pressure to make a purchase of new frames/lenses - it was totally up to me. I plan to return to The Vision Care Center for my next annual exam.

Dr. Englert treated me for adult strabismus a condition rarely encountered and frankly, being a…read moreprofessional myself, is not treated often because elderly do not respond with great results compared to the flexibility and 6 times faster healing rate than young to midlife patients and especially kids!. All the other eye surgeons-- ie opthalmologists NOT optometrists who only measure for eyeglasses and recognise disease-- would not take my case. ALL the higher ranked opthalmologists (vs. optometrists who cant do surgery but Dr.s trained highly in disease and correcting vision and other eye- related problems) do is laser surgery for cataracts actually done by a computer. Shorter time; bigger bucks. Like McDonalds. She scored a ten with me on her patience, caring, knowledge, chairside manner but most importantly with her courage to take on a hard case such as mine. My surgery was 100 % successful requiring not only training long forgotten by most opthalmologists but a great deal of artistry! I saw a lot of kids in her waiting area; the parents should have confidence putting their vision in her care. Not because I am a professional (former DDS) -- or that I'm in any way related to the DR, but because she is meticulous which was needed to correct my constant cross vision with a drifting eyeball-- a stanger to my consciousness and frankly very scary! This review is honest and my way of showing gratitude to the doctor. My whole existence was turned upside down regardless of my education and Dr. Englert gave me back my perception, ability to reason and balance. Thank you Dr. Englert
