I promised Boyd's I would update my rating if my dissatisfaction was addressed. Boyd's took my stock back after a couple of emails and supplying them with photos. They agreed the stock did not meet their standards. I wish I could rate Boyd's higher, but even as attactive a price as they offer, there is too much work left for the novice end user after the stock is recieved. They are not plug and play. You will need to hand finish to get "that perfect fit". However, if you're skilled with hand tools and don't mind a little do-it-yourself fine tuning, this stock may be for you. If you have to take the stock to a gunsmith for final fitting the stock will no longer be a bargain. My replacement stock came with only minor tweaking required to get it to fit properly. Much improved from the first stock. I have to agree with other posters that communication is sorely lacking. Once you've done your part, you never hear from Boyd's again until the stock hits the road. And, you will never hear from them regarding your satisfaction. And, don't expect a lot of help from their "customer service" department. You will get only a boilerplate response and no satisfaction unless someone else intervenes. It appears the company may be overwhelmed by their success and are unable to meet the demands of scaled up production. read more

I received a stock that did not include the pillar bedding features I paid for. The replacement stock took four weeks to arrive and was in worse condition than the first one. It has a poor finish, with scratches in the clear coat and noticeable orange peeling. There are also small pinholes pressed into the wood, the laser checkering is off-center, and the check rest was rounded off. Boyds appears to lack attention to detail. Considering what they charge, I would advise avoiding this company at all costs. read more

Customer service Boyds will not answer their phones. Return phone messages will not respond to an email. There's no way of asking a general question much less if you actually have a problem after you receive your Stock. on the other hand, I have bought more than a few stocks over the years and they've been very nice quality. Very nice fit and finish. Personal opinion if the owners don't look into their customer service, they will lose your and there business eventually and it will be a shame because they do nice work. read more

horrible customer service. Ruger 10/22 stock zombie green with initials and shiny coat. The stock itself I really do enjoy but do not pay for engraving! It's an extra $20 and it has the potential to be awesome but the size of the engravement is the size of a quarter. They also put it in the corner where the black is on mine so you can't see it unless you're really looking for it. It should be in the green where it would be bright. When I emailed them letting them know this problem they got back to me quickly and asked me to send photos and information. As soon as I sent that information they stopped communicating with me. Did not give me any money back for the engraving or try to help me out in any way. Just asked me to help them out but wouldn't return the favor . Good product crap people read more

This is just or the business office/admin folks. I ordered a rifle stock on March 24, 2023 by using the internet site. Boyds confirmed the order and my paid amount. On April 10, 2023 I sent a text regarding delivery estimate. There has been no answer. On April 21, 2023 I sent an e-mail inquiry regarding estimated delivery-no answer. On April 25 I pointed out to Boys help line e-mail address that my messages are not being answered. Since I'm not always at the shop every day to accept delivery, estimate delivery times are important. So be for-warned by my experience. read more

sent your company an email explaining why i was dissaponted with the barracuda stock. it had to do with the hand grip being to small for my hands as i have med hands. the lady in customer service was nice enough but frankly said accept it or return it. i don't know if your hands are small, but wrap them around the barracuda stock and see if it fits. if you had advertised the stock was made only for small hands i would not have ordered it. i have a cnc router and i know with a small change in code, the handle could be designed as needed . there are a lot of people with med to large hands thay might want this stock. i like the stock for it's design, but want it to fit. you make extended butt plates and cheek pieces, therefore you should be able to make a large hand grip if you can not adapt to the larger hand piece, how about making the end of the hand piece small enough to fit a tail piece to the handle. if i keep the stock, i will have to grind off the bottom of the handle to fit a 1/2 in of wood or plastic to make up the difference . i really like the stock, but i think you could fix the stock for more people. well, I should have paid more attention to the reviews and gone with another company. And from the consistantly bad reviews, appears this is chronic, not one-off. I purchased the Agility with the adjustable comb. First, the barrel did not fit in the channel which required that I sand out the channel before I could assemble and shoot. Second and most troublesome, the back of the comb is very sharp. That sharp edge cut a gash in my cheek. It is unusable as is. Customer Service suggestion was to put some mole skin on it. Then for me to modify. While I'm fine sanding out the barrel channel, I'm not fine screwing around with the lines and have it look bad. Or putting mole skin and look completely rigged. Of course, since I had to sand out the barrel channel, I can't return. Live and learn. read more

I've bought 3 Boyd stocks and although I'm happy with the first 2 the 3rd stock cracked in the pistol grip (spike camp). I was bedding the rifle and with a light tap to remove the stick the pistol grip cracked straight across. I understand things happen and I wasn't upset, things happen. Well the disappointment came when Boyd's said I voided the warranty by bedding the rifle. It wasn't my bedding, it was a factory defect. I'm no longer a Boyd supporter and will pay a bit more for a better stock next time. Customer service is the reason. read more

Boyd's offers some great looking stocks and some unique options like wood furniture for an AR-15. However they absolutely fail at customer service and understanding applicable laws. They refused to sell me a wooden A2 stock citing it as a restricted item in California. An A2 stock is a fixed (non-adjustable) stock and the only legal option in CA when configuring a featureless rifle. (No pistol grip, flash hider, or adjustable stock.) In addition, the only stock that is illegal to possess in CA is a Bump-stock. Every other type and style is completely legal to possess. It is only when assembled into a configuration that is not legal that there is any violation of the law. Luckily Midway stocks many Boyds products and was more than happy to sell me the exact item the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to. I only wish I could have made this purchase without any of my money making it into their hands. read more

After calling Boyds and telling them about this exact stock, I was asked by their CSR to directly email the pic. I immediately emailed the EXACT pic to Boyds. And they almost immediately called me back saying she recognized it right away as their maple. We talked shape, and laser engraving until I was satisfied. I placed my order after she said to call if what I received wasn't right. Here's a pic of what I received. I contacted Boyds with my concern and was given a simple cut n paste reply about lightning. But even after I sent outside pics, I was once again given the runaround, but this time about wood's characteristics. Well I finally got my stock today and its the wrong color and the color they gave me isn't even an option for my gunstock. I ordered a light purple stock expecting to get that after a long wait and got a dark blue instead. Its not purple at all. I paid a lot for this stock and I'm not going to send it back since it took 3 weeks to get to me but I won't do any business with this company ever again. This is now my to go to stock from now on. Ordered stock and it came in perfect. BEAUTIFUL finish high luster. Fitment was superb. Had a slight issue with magazine catch tab but they sent one out immediately. They were down at Christmas time for maintenance and repairs and closed for business. The guy got ahold of me and with in 3 days made the call,I got a reply , and received the part at no charge to me. Very knowledgeable and listened to my issue. I ordered a stock for a remington 700 with bottom plate mag. The anticipation was killing me waiting for this stock to show up. So finally it came in. Stock is beautiful. They do have a disclaimer that the stocks are not 100% as represented on their web site and there may be some modifications required. I was happy with how the stock turned out. Only modification I had to do was very very light sanding to give the bolt handle room to lift & drop. The stock I received looks great. Customer service has been absolutely terrible. First there was a glitch with their website, so they actually built and shipped my gunsmith the wrong color stock. Then, they refused to ship the correct stock until they received that one back. Then, they forgot to pack and ship the vertical grip, so I had to ask for another one. Then, their absolutely incompetent customer service person sent it to the wrong address per the shipping method I requested, basically just couldn't be bothered to read the previous emails or think. Very disappointing customer "service" ..... but the stock itself is sweet. Almost missed my hunting window, but got it all set up in the nick of time, minus the vertical grip they just plain forgot. read more

Called and canceled order did get charged restocking fee but was told that they would refund when I reordered correct stock which I promptly did. Did receive refund within 14 days of placing new order. I received my stock roughly 2 weeks after ordered. I used PTG bottom metal for my rifle. Fit was great. read more

Ordered a stock for my Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoore. It came in a timely manner, but the color was wrong (ordered coyote brown and it was forest green) being that the forest green actually wasn't bad and was the same price, I sucked it up and it has grown on me. That said, usually when you ship something, you make sure that it's the correct thing. 3 stars for the quality and ease of installation. However, when I found out the stock I ordered wasn't compatible with Rugers AI mags and it was ANOTHER $115 to get the correct parts (nowhere does it say that on the order page) I wasn't very happy. We'll see if the stock I ordered for my Ruger 308 is any better and the correct color this time, if it is, I may give them back one star... read more

Don't waste your time, money, and jeopardize your firearms functionality with Boyds products. They make up policies that they have on the fly. Their so called customer service is atrocious. The reason it takes so long is they are redoing orders instead of making it right the first time. I won't give them any more of my time or money. Recently ordered a laminate stock (featherweight thumbhole) for my Savage 30-06 and it is absolutely beautiful. Very well made and a solid fit for my rifle. This stock greatly improved my groupings, and it even seems to have somehow reduced the recoil. I did have to sand down the inside of the stock a little to ensure my barrel was truly free-floating, but thats an easy thing. I have talked with customer service twice during the ordering process, and each time recieved a quick response. I'm honestly surprised by the amount of bad reviews, as I've had nothing but the best experience buying from them. read more

So I ordered a spike camp instead on 1/18. Still no shipping date yet. Update: spoke to customer service 48 hours ago and was assured that my order would be on the way by then. Second stock came. Again looks amazing. The bolts all fit this time. The problem there is no bolt notch for the bolt to lock into. It just wasn't milled, and apparently never checked before leaving the warehouse. After the complaint on the second stock they now add a note to check it before leaving. I've purchased several Boyds gunstocks over the years. The first ones I purchased i was guite pleased with the overall fit and I really prefer unfinished over finished stocks however that is no longer an option. The last two stocks I purchased were quite disappointing. The last one I purchased was for a model 96 swede. It was quite oversized and required glass bedding to fit the action properly. In the area of the action one side of the stock was much thicker than the other and the contours were not symmetrical. Even though the stock was finished with laser engraving I had to remove a substantial amount of wood and refinish while trying not to compromise the engraving. If you just want a utility stock for that old hunting rifle they're ok but if you expect more then shop around. read more

They wont ship these to NY? What a joke. There is absolutely zero reason to not ship this to NY. There are probably a million legally registered AR's in NY that a person can put this stock on with 100% legality. Not to mention, there have been thousands upon thousands of fixed mag AR's being owned and on the market for sale that could accept this stock with 100% legality. Furthermore, to decide not to ship this to an 07 FFL dealer/manufacturer makes even less sense because as a dealer we sell straight up assault rifles with tele stocks and 30rd mags to active law enforcement every single day because they are exempt from the state firearms restrictions. Took quite a while to ship but the stock fit my old Browning rifle perfectly. It also looks great. So I'm happy. Only thing I don't like is how small/short the stock is. It is almost 7 inches shorter than my old/authentic Browning stock, so even with the extender fully out in the back, it is still way too short for me. Tried and failed to order a stock. After much thought and research, I decided to buy a stock for my Ruger .22LR model 10/22 rifle. I spent time on their site and finally settled into a custom stock configuration. But every time I tried to place the order and pay, an error came up. The error removed my stock and all the options from the cart. After much frustration, I reached out to Boyd's. They answered back quickly, but their answer total and utter BS. I live in Illinois. They claim the state has an assault weapons ban (it doesn't) and that the stock I am ordering is an assault weapon part (it isn't) and the order is canceled. Are they nuts? Well if they are willing to walk away from business based on bad information then I think they should be rewarded for such stupidity by not selling anything in Illinois or in places where people believe that businesses should be intelligent and truthful. read more

Now that they've jacked their prices by at least 50%, I buy else where. Bell and Carlson may be more pricey, but at least I'm treated like a customer, not a convict. I put in order for a At-One stock for a Savage 17 on January 16, 2019. I contacted someone via phone and email to get an update on when my order would be shipped out and never got a response. When I was told "7-10" days on production, that's what I expect. If not, they could at least return a phone call or email. I found the same exact stock, on eBay, for $20 more and bought it. I cancelled my order via email and through my CC company just in case. I have never tried to give my money to a company so bad. It honestly makes no sense to have such crappy customer service when you have such a great product.. I will never buy from Boyd's again and I would suggest everyone else not waste your time or money. You won't get a response to emails or phone calls. And if, by chance, you do get someone on the phone, they won't be able to help you anyways. read more
