They did what they could and took bloodwork that would be in the next day, but later that same day he passed on his own, which obviously was very hard on us. When Dr Seddon called the next day with the bloodwork, he explained it was very indicative that he more than likely had a tumor on his pancreas because of how low his blood sugar was and there was no way to cure that. He also said he was quite positive that he wasn't suffering during this time at all, which meant a lot! The cremation was handled so amazingly and even included a paw print. I am not typically a fan of conventional vets, but Dr Seddon is a top-notch, compassionate, exceptional conventional vet that has always been a go between for my 3 chihuahuas when something urgent comes up and I can't make it out to the holistic vet (Healing Paws). He has worked on Nico and Roxie, my other two dogs several times for issues and been super helpful! His whole staff is top-notch and compassionate! I truly love Bowie Towne Vet and am so appreciative I have such an outstanding vet practice so close to home. I wrote all of this with tears over the loss of our sweet little boy, but also mixed with tears of joy of appreciation for having such an amazing vet location that was so supportive and helpful during this hard time.

There was one afternoon I went when it was crowded and I had to wait a while to get taken care of -- never doing that again, haha, but I suspected it beforehand. It just proved my point. My sweet spot is the mornings -- no later than 10 on weekdays if my schedule allows. I used to strictly make appointments on the phone, but now it can be done through their website / text message system. It's been a seamless system thus far. In person, the staff are always professional and very transparent with what they're doing (thankfully it's been nothing serious for my cats). Usually I get my cats back and within 5-10 minutes the staff are ready for me to check out. I do wish it was instant, as my cats are itching to return home once they're back in my hands, but I understand the process. I'm not sure when they added it, but they have a water / coffee station in there, and I really appreciate that. There's always a movie or two on the TV in there, and I've always admired how dogs and cats go on opposite sides. I haven't seen the wandering cat in a while... that means she was adopted I hope! APAW is going to continue being my go-to spot for all of my pet needs, and I hope they continue to do well.

Dear APAWs Veterinary Hospital Management,…read more I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the care my dog Remy received at your facility under the care of Dr. Johnson. Remy was not just a pet; he was my companion and part of my family for nearly sixteen years. I had him since he was just 13 weeks old, and he was truly my son. Because of this, I trusted your hospital to provide compassionate and honest medical guidance during what ultimately became the final days of his life. During Remy's first visit, I brought him in due to noticeable behavioral changes, weakness, and concerns that something serious might be wrong. I specifically asked Dr. Johnson whether Remy might be nearing the end of his life based on his symptoms. I was told that he appeared to be okay, that he likely had joint issues or a possible infection, and that further diagnostics such as blood work or imaging could be considered later. At that time, no blood work was performed and the examination consisted only of a basic physical assessment. Each visit cost $119. Remy's condition continued to decline. After another episode in which he collapsed, I contacted the office again and was advised to bring him back. During this second visit blood work was finally performed, and I was told that Remy was anemic and had a low body temperature. I also informed Dr. Johnson that his breathing had changed and that he was not eating. Despite my repeated questions asking directly whether Remy was dying and my request that he not suffer unnecessarily, my concerns were not clearly addressed. Instead, I was told that additional diagnostics such as X-rays and an ultrasound would be needed to determine what was really going on. I was quoted approximately $1,000 for X-rays and $700 for an ultrasound. I explained that given Remy's age, I needed honest guidance about his prognosis before moving forward with costly procedures. I asked what his realistic life expectancy might be and whether these tests would meaningfully change the outcome. Unfortunately, I did not receive a clear answer. Throughout these visits I repeatedly requested pain management to ensure Remy would not suffer if he was indeed nearing the end of his life. Pain medication was not initially provided and I was told to continue following up. Eventually a five-day course of narcotic medication was prescribed which appeared to help him tolerate the pain temporarily, but his condition continued to decline. Remy ultimately passed away just hours before my birthday. I was not physically present at the moment he passed because I was on my way there when a sudden hailstorm made it impossible for me to arrive in time. My aunt was with him and called to tell me she believed he would not make it until I arrived. I was able to FaceTime him and speak to him. I told him that if he was tired, it was okay to rest, and that we had sixteen beautiful years together and that he would never be replaced. His eyes moved while I was speaking, and he passed away approximately thirty minutes later. I will always hope that he found comfort in hearing my voice. After Remy passed away, I contacted the hospital to inform staff and asked whether I could bring his body in or if someone would retrieve him. I was told that my aunt could drop him off and that someone would meet her outside to receive him, which unfortunately did not happen. When I later returned to pick up Remy's ashes approximately one week later, I requested to speak with Dr. Johnson but was told she had already left for the day following surgery. Later that same day I received a call from Dr. Johnson from the office phone. During that call she stated that she had just learned that Remy had passed away and that I had asked for her. This explanation was confusing, as the hospital had already been notified when his body was brought in. During that call she offered a brief apology and thanked me for being Remy's "nurse" in his final moments. I corrected her and explained that I was not his nurse, but his mother. Based on my experience, I was left with the troubling impression that the approach to Remy's care may have prioritized additional costly procedures rather than providing clear guidance about his condition and quality of life. After Remy passed, I reviewed other public reviews online and noticed several other pet owners describing similar experiences, which raised further concern for me. In my case, it felt as though continued follow-up visits and expensive diagnostic procedures were emphasized while my repeated questions about Remy's prognosis and comfort were not directly addressed. It was only after I clearly stated that I could not proceed with the additional $1,700 in diagnostic costs that pain medication was prescribed. As a grieving pet owner, this left me feeling that my vulnerability and love for my pet may have been taken advantage of during an already heartbreaking time. When families bring their pets in during serious illness, th

The problems were lack of transparency, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of concerns. I have no issue spending money to ensure my pet receives the best care -- the issue was transparency, especially after discovering medications were priced at approximately three times market value without clear disclosure. Verbal post-care instructions also did not consistently match written discharge notes, creating confusion. When I raised legitimate concerns, I was met with defensive reactions from front staff and management, which escalated into a tense one-on-one meeting that required me to take time off work. Communication through the client app was often delayed, despite staff insisting it be used as the primary contact method. Obtaining complete medical records was also unnecessarily difficult. Most disappointing was receiving a condescending email suggesting discontinuation of services, despite the fact that I had already transferred my cat's care due to these unresolved issues. After months of transparency issues, I'm not sure what made them think I would continue using them as my pet's primary provider anyway -- that decision had already been made. If the practice responds to this review, readers should view that response critically, as it does not reflect the months-long experience that led to this outcome. No pet owner should have to go through this simply to ensure proper care for their animal.

The staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty were amazing from the moment we walked in. They were extremely thorough while showing such care and concern for Duke. They explained what was happening, were transparent about the cost, and gave an honest assessment of the prognosis for our baby. Dr. S explained our options and gave us time to process everything. She answered all our questions and reassured us that there was no right or wrong way to go. Ultimately, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Duke go and she supported it, agreeing it was the kindest choice given his age, prognosis, and his current state. When I asked her what she would do for her own fur baby given the circumstances, Dr. S was transparent and told us she would do the same. That gave us a small bit of comfort that we weren't rushing into it prematurely. Dr. S gave us referrals to a few vets who could come to our home to help us with Duke's final care. We chose Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who were equally wonderful during such a horrible time. We appreciate all of the staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty, from the folks at the front desk to the nurses and doctors. There were small things that I appreciated... when they brought our baby to us, they put down a plush blanket so he could be comfortable and not laying directly on the floor. Also, right before we left, one of the nurses even came in to say goodbye to Duke and tell him he was a sweet boy. She loved on him and that small gesture will always stick with me. I thank everyone for showing such love and support during one of the most difficult times in my family's life. I would absolutely recommend Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty to anyone needing care for their fur baby.

I waited almost 2 hours in the car while I watched them take other dogs they said needed immediate attention. I…read morebrought my cat to Lynn Animal Hospital over several days, and their veterinarian completely missed a very common and life-threatening urinary obstruction. I even pointed out a large, firm mass I could feel in my cat's abdomen, yet they dismissed it, took an X-ray, and still failed to identify the problem. Instead, they incorrectly treated him for "air in the stomach," performed unnecessary procedures, and told me to "wait until the next day" while my cat was rapidly declining. If I had followed their advice, my cat would have died. When I rushed him to VEG Emergency Clinic, the doctors were shocked that Lynn had not identified the problem -- they said it was obvious and should have been caught immediately by any qualified vet. Because of Lynn's negligence, my cat suffered for days and came extremely close to dying. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Please take your pets elsewhere.

I've had some…read moregood experiences and some not great experiences - which is why this review is 4 stars and not 5. If it were for today's visit only, which is what has prompted me to write this review, it would be 5. This is going to be long, but that's only because in the past, I desperately have searched for reviews for a vet for my fear aggressive dog, hoping to find in-depth ones like this. Summary at the bottom for those who may not want to read a novel. Starting with the not so great: The not great experiences were with doctors no longer with the practice. One of them told me in the waiting room that my dog "probably had cancer" based ONLY on a visual of his urine sample. No objective information, he had never seen this dog (he saw my other dog the week prior and came off as arrogant then too), and he wasn't even our assigned doctor that day... So that was unprofessional and jarring. He didn't have cancer, by the way. The other so-so experience was with a different doctor, who was absolutely an improvement from the above experience, but ended up being underwhelming. My dog has fear aggression, and while I try my best to medicate him before appointments and always advocate that he needs a muzzle, at one point he had an ultrasound which I could obviously not be present for. I think he came out of the anesthesia aggressive and spooked this doctor, who never really treated him the same after that. Following this, he was quick, brief, a bit dismissive of some concerning test results, and seemed to want my dog in and out. Not awful, but not great either. Now for today, which again, this review would be 5 stars if it were only for today: The new vet to the practice, Dr. Briscoe, was LOVELY with my dog. I've never seen him so calm in an appointment. She wasn't dismissive of my concerns, didn't give me the feeling that she wanted him in and out, and actually took the time to pet him, make him comfortable, give him treats, and even remark about how sweet and soft he was. It's been years since any vet has been so patient and treated him so well. I don't remember the technicians name (maybe it was Jasmin?) but she was amazing with him too. I want to express my appreciation, as the vet is always a stressful experience for us, and today was truly an incredible experience relative to what we've had in the past, both at Lynn and other past vets as well. Overall (TL;DR) I've had some so-so experiences with doctors here that are no longer with the practice, but overall it's been a solid vet for us for the past year. The vet that's new to the practice was extremely patient with me and my fear aggressive senior dog, and it meant a lot to me.
