Box Park is a neat twist on an existing concept. A lot of places have opened food halls, or marketplaces that have a lot of food options. Box Park is exactly this, but composed of trailers, or boxes, if you will. These boxes are stacked on each other and create a large space for food vendors, seating for patrons, and a bar. Customers can wander the space until they find something, or not. I like that Box Park is no committment, but a good time if you want it! Definitely worth checking out! read more

We were recommended this place by someone. Maybe a local. My friends and I stopped here for dinner. It's a big food hall. You have to download the app to get in to show your membership but it's free. They have a wide variety of foods. Maybe about 15-20 spots. They also have alcohol. I took a bit to decide what to eat. I decided to go with peninsula which was Indonesian/south Asian. I ordered my food and was given a pager. I ordered the roti canai with chicken and then a nasi lamek rice dish with fried chicken. Food took about 10 minutes or so. My friends each also ordered about 2 items each from different stalls and we all shared everything between 4 of us. Seating can be a little rough. It's all shared table space. We found a spot at the Jamaican place where 1 of us ordered food. I really liked the chickpea fries. I don't remember where they came from. The mushroom ravioli was also delicious. The roti canai that I ordered is different from the ones I've tried anywhere in the US. It was more savory than sweet. It came with a good amount of chicken and roti. Pretty cool spot! My friends and I came here by recommendation of a local. The place is made out of old storage containers, hence the name Boxpark. It's in the super trendy Shoreditch area where all the youngsters hang out. You have to go in through the entrance opposite of the corner where the ladies bathroom is. They do a quick bag check and you can't bring in water. Inside there's a ton of food and drink options available. They even have a club that played kinda ratchet music! It ain't Bay Area ratchet, but I mean people were getting down. There's tons of seating around, but it does get packed, so you may have to stand around and eat or drink but it's cool. Overall a pretty cool spot to hang out, grab some grub and a drink or two or five. You can even get down and boogey if you wanted to. Definitely would recommend! read more

Fun, hip place to go to! They have a lot of different food options from healthy to unhealthy but everything is unique and made with quality! It is a little pricey because of the "hip specialty foods" but I had a great experience. The whole area is cool and there are a lot of interesting places around it. Definitely somewhere you should stop by if you haven't been here before. read more

Cool setup with shipping containers converted into pop-up food stalls and shops -- top floor is food, bottom floor mostly shops. Loved that all the food stall and shop names were hashtags. It's pretty small though - I expected something along the size of Camden Market. If you have just a few days in London, I might skip this one. Top floor - food stalls incl. pub, pork, duck, veg/Thai and chicken. I tried "The Duck Truck" - menu looked the most interesting but the food was just ok ... the Duck Fat Fries were to die for though :) My co-worker got food from the chicken stall - enjoyed her jerk chicken but it took forever to get her food. The guy next to me was eating Pad Thai from the Thai shop and his food smelled amazing. My recommendation - Duck Fat Fries from The Duck Truck, and then head next door for the Pad Thai. Bottom floor - besides clothes, jewelry, art and other misc. stuff, they also had soft serve ice cream and donut shops. We did enjoy looking around the Maiden gift shop (http://www.maidenshop.com/) - found a cool London map that points out all the key music spots and interesting stories. Boxpark has a very interesting set up. Initially coming here, I just thought it was one huge bar/restaurant but upon entering it I found out that there's multiple levels with different separate restaurants/drink stations. Some kitchens had Korean food, burgers etc but I chose Rudie's which had standard Carribean food items served with some razzle dazzle. The jerk chicken was pretty good- it's hard to mess that up and the plantains were soft and sweet. I also got the "nuff scotch" hot sauce which added a nice amount of heat to the meal overall. My friend got the rice and pea with the fritters on the side. He didn't quite enjoy his meal but mine was great so welp. read more

Boxpark Shoreditch is an awesome place to spend a couple hours. Retail stores take up residence downstairs in re-purposed shipping containers; pop-up eateries & communal tables make up the second floor. The shops definitely lean towards the chic & trendy. I fell in love with the decorative wood house furnishings in Decorum, and The Play Box has fun, unique souvenirs & gifts. For food, we tried DumDum Donuts (which was downstairs) & Greek food at The Athenian. Love waking through the different eating areas to browse all the food options. Lots of variety & well priced from what I could see. Bathrooms are downstairs & require a code. Boxpark Shoreditch has an impressive collection of eclectic eats & buys. I hope to visit some of the other Boxpark locations the next time I'm in town. read more

This is an interesting arrangement of shops and food stands situated in a slightly more secluded part of Shoreditch. The top portion of the "park" is where you'll find all the food. They offer just about any kind of cuisine and street food you can imagine, and the alcohol flows freely here. From Asian to Indian and even American, do come hungry because you may want to try it all. The bottom half of this establishment is where you'll find all the shops that sell everything from trendy (and pricey) clothes to souvenirs and unusual knick knacks. There's even a doughnut shop claiming to have the best doughnuts in the world; they're not THAT amazing, but certainly worth a try at least once. Seeing that you have your pick of the litter, it's a great place to enjoy a night out with your friends for some food and drinks while you watch TV in one of their many dining rooms. read more

Just right off Shoreditch High Street overground station is Boxpark, filled with loads of food and a great spot to hang out. It's also about a 12 minute walk from Liverpool street, but you could also take the bus from there if you want to minimise your walking. Coming on an evening in the weekday was quite busy, so I can imagine what it would be like on a Friday or Saturday night. It's an ideal spot to go to for a social gathering, or big groups. There's lots of different cuisines of food, so it's something for everyone, even including the vegans! I didn't get a chance to try it all, but I don't think there should be high hopes that the food is amazing. And it can be a bit more pricey for not the portion you may want. La Nonna's pasta was pretty decent. The location is interesting as it is much more spread out rather than just in one building. When you walk in, there's a few food choices, but if you continue down another set of double doors, you'll come across an outdoor corridor of sorts with benches to sit on when it's not raining, and then you enter another set of double doors with more food options and drinks as well. The repeat it one more time and you have Boxpark! The ambience is pretty dark and low lighting. The music is also pretty loud here. If you want a good spot to catch up with friends this may or may not be the place for you as you make have to talk a bit louder than normal to be heard. The upside is that there is plenty of seating. Mainly long tables with benches to match. However, as it does get pretty crowded, if your group is too big, you may has to split up so everyone can have a seat. read more

This scene reminds me so much of Williamsburg, BK. I only wish I came earlier before some of the shops closed. When I arrived it was mostly the food vendors that were still there. There's a little bit of something for everyone here, so you can spend hours here. I will definitely return when in London. read more

I love the idea of re-purposing shipping containers into modern businesses. So creative, so cool. That is exactly what Boxpark is - creative and cool. I had one of the most fun nights of my trip at Boxpark. I came to Boxpark in the evening to eat and drink with friends, so for the first half of my visit I didn't even realize that most of the building was a shopping mall. My experience was solely for the food and drinks. We posted up at one of the communal tables on the upper level (assuming that's where most of the food + drinks are taken place) and that is where we stayed till the place closed down at midnight. There are plenty of different picnic-style communal tables scattered throughout the drinking/dining area. Perfect for small or large groups and to get to know your neighbors. There were plenty of awesome food vendors that caught my eye: The Skinny Kitchen, The Breakfast Club, and Poptapa just to name a few. While we were hanging out we didn't eat too much. If I can recall correcrtly we picked up a few appetizers from MeatLiqour. By the end of our visit, we were well acquainted with the liqour vendors. They had a few different bars set up throughout the upper level - to be fully honest, I can't remember all of them, but I know all the beer and gin and tonics I drank were delicious, so kudos to them. Retail revolution? Hardly. This "pop up mall" appears to have good intentions (then again, they could just be attempting to capitalise on the "green-ness" of the shipping container trend) but whomever was in charge of attracting retailers and understanding the demographic of the surrounding area either didn't do his or her research, or was just completely asleep at the wheel. The selection at both The North Face and Marimekko was small - understandable given the size of the containers themselves - but I was puzzled as to why one interested in these stores wouldn't simply visit their larger, better stocked high street counterparts. This place could be a hit were it populated by independent designers and creators selling stuff not procurable elsewhere. But if you want a pair of Pumas, Vans or Dockers (yes, really) why ever would you buy them here? There was, however, a shop at Boxpark that was truly unique in its available wares. One look at the adult onesies on offer at OnePiece and my shopping companion and I were cracking up. And that was before we spotted the £150 price tag. By then we'd seen enough of Boxpark and headed off. read more

Weird that this is listed as a shopping centre as it's more so a food market. Amazing concept, a load of storage containers turned in to restaurants and a few shops on the lower level. Great place to meet friends and hang out. Shoreditch is such a cool area so it's definitely worth heading over there to explore, popping in here for some food and drinks on the way! It has a bit of a party atmosphere, they have funky music playing and lots of fairy/candle lights, great vibe. It's covered so you're good even if it's raining. We went to a vegan place called (I think) King Cook Daily..or that may be the chefs IG name but the food was delicious! Only con was that they should offer smaller portions for those that can't manage a huge bowl of udon noodles. I'm not usually a fan of tofu but the vegan 'chicken' was fantastic. My friend absolutely loves the place and I can't say I was disappointed. I look forward to going back. read more

On a sunny day, the rooftop beer garden is the place to be! Nice selection of "pop-up" like restaurants...Bukowski's, Rhum Shack, Simply Fish. There are so few great outdoor dining venues in London, so the boxpark fills a nice void. There are several rooftop areas here, with plenty of communal wooden tables to dine and imbibe al fresco. Boxpark loses 2 stars though as the shops are not interesting in the slightest...North Face, Nike, Vans, XBox...umm can't you just go to Oxford Street or Westfield for these chains? Seriously, Boxpark you had a great opportunity to surface new independent merchants in a super cool format (former ship containers) instead you sold out to the Nikes of the world. read more

I thought it was only going to be there for a few weeks but the information pod said it would be here for 5 years. Lots of quite high end street sportwear brands on the ground floor. When Boxpark first opened I thought it was a genuine pop-up, here for a few month, then gone and handing over the site to more ambitious developers. It's been a few years now and Boxpark is still here. It's funny to see it listed as a shopping centre, but come to think of it this is exactly what it is. But rather than having loads of cloned shops under one roof, the tiny container outlets are facing outwards, making the whole experience a lot more fun. The shops are a mixture of up and coming brands, trendy gift shops and bespoke branches of established chains. GAP is an excellent example with a small outlet only stocking a small selection of their massive range - while trendy hipsters may not frequent the larger more mainstream stores, this shows the power of targeted selection: black and white and dark denim only, drainpipes and no garish logos in sight. And next door at Marimekko I overheard the manager explain to a shopper that Boxpark provides a good platform to get away from the older women who normally like the brand - making me feel very old as I've loved the designs for ages, albeit as cushions and curtains rather than dresses ... So, it's shops on the lower level, plus street food outlets on the upper deck. It's all really quick and easy; you pick your favourite food and then take it to one of the seating areas. Good choice of covered and open air areas, plus a large-ish area of fake grass downstairs. I've just been rethinking my rating, but just can't bring myself to give more than 3 stars. I just prefer the truly independent shops which pop up here and there in the neighbouring streets. Lined up containers take away from the adventure of discovery. read more

This is about the location rather than the individual pop ups that reside inside this location. I kinda expected something bigger, maybe I had seen something cleverly edited or it made me think that this location was larger. You can walk across it in 5 minutes whilst I was somehow expecting many twists & turns that reveal new hidden vendors. Alas it was not to be. What was to be was rude security that insisted my buddy down her water at the security check. That my purchase of shower gel could be explosives or illicit alcohol. A more polite approach would be better than being trained by the TSA. The place was packed, people were drinking & enjoying themselves on this sunny Thursday evening. Though the pounding & vibrating music at the front of the venue made talking close to impossible. The overall vibe of the place was possible it made us feel good, it even made us feel a good few years younger than we actually are. The Shoreditch neighborhood is full of trendy bars full of locals in their 20's. So if that's what you're looking for, take the tube to Shoreditch and make your first stop Boxpark since it's right next to the station. The bottom floor of the pop-up mall is full of various shops, a designated area where people were laying on random beanie bags, and a small turf grass field where people apparently play football sometimes. Oh and there's a bathroom where you need a pin-code to enter, which is coed by the way (it took some getting used to in Europe). The top floor is pretty much a rooftop bar area with various food stalls. It was definitely a great spot for my friend and I to watch the World Cup over the summer. Overall, I'd definitely check out Boxpark if you want a chill outdoor hangout spot to grab some food and drinks before bar hopping at other places in Shoreditch. read more

The few I went into sold similar quirky gifts (apparently external iPhone speakers are hot right now, they all had different ones). This was such a fun place!! I imagined it to be pretty small but in fact it is a large building with so many options for food, drinks (upstairs), and shops (downstairs)! I appreciated the amount of available seating with heat lamps AND fans for air circulation. There was also a very professional and friendly security + cleaning staff. So many great little shops, pop-ups, and restaurants. I went to What The Pitta?! For some zaatar bread, but could have easily visited a few more places if I were hungry! Plenty of meatless options too. Boxpark is really cool and i can see why it remains popular! The only downside to the visit was that their signs advertised free WiFi but it wasn't working. Boxpark is awesome!! The upstairs is the food area and the downstairs is the shops. All of the food I've had there has been amazing. Cookdaily has terrific smoothies and great vegetarian options. I had just gotten off a long flight and the tofu udon hit the spot. Of course Kurrito is awesome too. At first I was freaked out that I would have to eat in the cold, but there are heated lamps that keep you toasty by the benches. East London Juice Co. is at the bottom part though even though it's food. I was trying to find it and looked everywhere upstairs for it, but then realized it was with the shops. You have to spend a while wandering through the shops!! Although they are small, there is quite a bit of stuff. For example, I've been to the OnePiece store in LA and it's huge but I didn't feel that this one was lacking a lot in comparison either. Nordic Poetry is one of the most fun stores there because it's just fun to browse and check out all of the vintage items. There are bins to go through and some really great designer pieces if you dig. Even though it does get quite crowded with people trying clothes on, it is a fun environment. read more

Somewhere on this earth is a place where too kool for skool hair goes to die, where the final remnants of those beautiful Fabric loving children spend their last pennies in a cacophony of wittering about how they tried the latest mind melder from Alaska. Where there is cynically marketed "independent" shopping in a very permanent "pop up" shopping centre made of old shipping crates. This my Lords and Ladies is that place. This is the place that represents the new Shoreditch, something that is marketed as genuinely independent but becomes a cynical pastiche of cool. Perhaps I'm being harsh (OK I'm totally being harsh!), though I did feel there was something disingenuous about this place. The shops, said to to be independent, each only selling one brand....highly suspicious. The shops are small and the prices are expensive but I suppose its ok for a wander if you're in the area. There are also some decent food options on the top tier including Pieminster and a nice well priced Thai placed full of people being seen on their macbook pros and oversized headphones. A great place to eat, smoke shisha and relax with friends or just great company. I live close by so this is my local. I like to try different cuisines each time I visit. They have a selection of different food to try from vegan to burgers you name it they have it. They also hold great events throughout the summer such as open mic nights and also promotional events from fun companies such as Ben & Jerry's and lots more. It is great to visit either in the day or night and the price for food is moderate but well worth the money. Always keep a look out as the shops at the bottom always change and feature new pop up stores from creative and local brands. read more

To walk off the bad taste left in our mouths we wandered a few hundred meters to Box Park. Think the bar area just off Chinatown housed in what Melbourner's describe as Cargo crates. London has taken that to it's extreme and stacked a number of cargo boxes on top of each other, shop fitted each of them and opened them to the world. It is the world's first pop-up mall. What is ingenious is that the local council only grants business a one-year license to trade and then on that year anniversary a whole bunch of new traders are able to come in and make a name for themselves. This is what London is known for and they have really pulled it off to great effect. Currently it houses a number of major brands wanting to get a bit more 'edge' to their name while the other half of the shops are small independents who will definitely more on to bigger and better things once they move on. And with the Olympics passing through this area there is no better time to visit this fantastic part of town, just off the well-worn tourist trail. To end I will leave you with a hipster craze that will eventually hit Australian shores in the next few years once London has moved on. I have been told by London friends that their bosses have actually turned up to work wearing one of these. Cool little popup mall that they created out of shipping containers. A lot of it is "hip" (read: expensive) clothing shops, but there's also Guardian coffee, which is a really cool concept, as well as a bar/restaurant. There's also free WiFi here, so that's a plus. read more

Boxpark is a really nice set up - it's called a pop up market but it's actually a fairly solid wooden structure with lots of nice seating that I'm sure is packed when the weather is warm enough. It features lots of self-conscious "brands" ranging from Amnesty to Nike and has lots of good lunch options, including: Hop Namo (Vietnamese), Mexway, Thai and Lao Street Food Kitchen, Pieminster, a juice bar and frozen yoghurt. Definitely a good place to go if you have a group of people with different tastes, as this is basically Shoreditch's answer to a food court. MMM food courts... read more

When I first walked by this 6 months ago, Te concept impressed me. It made perfect sense to use storage containers in a creative way. Almost like recycling. The shops were quirky and trendy, and the upstairs was a great spot for lunch or a drink. Nowadays, though, it seems like shops are closing left and right. Amnesty closed down their store, Hop Namo (Vietnamese cafe with great Bahn Mi) is gone, and Nike seems to have taken over almost the entire space. It will be interesting to see how this is doing another 6 months from now. read more

Boxpark Shoreditch is the most diverse place I have ever been to in my life. You will see blk, spanish, Asian, white just all types of people communing and having a really nice time. As you walk thru Boxpark you will be walking from cart to cart each filled with food, music and benches. Whether you want to come here to eat, drink or dance there is something for everyone. There is a DJ at Boxpark so get ready to dance the day away because they will be playing the best of the best music. Keep in mind that this is a day party. At either 10 or 11pm they shut down so youll want to go early. It was really nice to see all different types of people in one place. I decided to eat at the Jamaican spot all the way in the last cart. The Caribbean cuisine there is definitely on point, the rum punch there is delicious. Aside from all the obnoxious posters everywhere urging people to talk about it on social media, (as if the demographic Boxpark is aimed at would miss an opportunity to do that), it has a nice vibe and there's no denying the appeal of the whole cargo container thing. However, I was frankly insulted that it had to the cheek to put a key code on the toilet. I suppose this was to stop it getting too messy as non-customers would undoubtedly stop by and use it, however judging by the state of the toilets themselves the owners of Boxpark don't actually give a damn about its cleanliness. The service at the main bar also left a lot to be desired - a barmaid asked me if I had paid for my drink, even though I had handed over the cash to her about two minutes ago. At £4.50 for a pint of bog-standard lager, I felt like I had paid quite enough already. read more

Boxpark Shoreditch is a pop up mall, although Boxpark itself doesn't pop up or down the stores that are contained in this delightful bundle of shipping crates do. Every cool established or up-and-comer has been, will be or will want to be here. Including a few stuffy brands trying to get down with the kids, The Guardian's Cafe anyone? No, don't go there, drinks are overpriced, they didn't even fill my teapot to the top with hot water and they didn't even have any un-sneezed-in copies of that days edition of The Guardian to peruse. Also their wifi was whack. Give it a rest. You might be afraid such an aching cool concept would be terribly pretentious but aside from The Guardian's overpriced Tea Pigs tea, it's not. Good place to discover niche brands and cool finds that will make you look like a well-sourced urbanite friend should you wish to give any of your goodies as gifts. The eating places there are pretty decent too (apart from The Guardian's - for pete's sake don't go there!) and only downside is I can never connect to the Boxpark wifi although I'm told there are others that do. read more
