My review still stands…read more It's a no frills gym that took over the cable car on Main Street. It's nothing fancy and it's really the people that keep me coming back. All the coaches are the best and each with their own teaching style so you can get a little variety depending on which class you go to. Majority of the coaches are also active boxers and have their own fights throughout the year so you know you're being taught by the best. They also have a separate membership for open gym if you're a step above taking classes. Lyz and Coach Hoss are the best. Lyz not only oversees operations she also teaches yoga on Saturdays! Coach Hoss owns the gym, teaches, and also trains a few professional fighters (even in his old age, he's still going!) The youth classes have also become incredibly popular with more and more youth joining. So parents highly recommend trying it out for your kids. Danny usually runs it and keeps a tight ship with a lot of the kids eventually growing to join the adult classes.

I had high expectations for UFC Gym, but unfortunately the cleanliness and overall management have…read morebeen very disappointing. The gym is consistently dirty, from the workout floor to the restrooms, sauna, and even the outdoor training area. These spaces should be cleaned and sanitized regularly, especially in a fitness facility where hygiene is so important. What makes the situation even more frustrating is that the cleaning staff are often on their phones instead of maintaining the facility. On multiple occasions, the manager has been locked in the office using a personal phone rather than being visible on the gym floor or addressing the condition of the club. Members pay a premium to work out in a clean, well-maintained environment. UFC Gym has great equipment and potential, but the lack of cleanliness, visible management, and attention to detail has significantly impacted my experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves the facility for its members.

I found Nicky at Mindset Fitness, and from the very first session, the experience exceeded every expectation. I have a knee replacement, so finding a trainer who truly understands the body was incredibly important to me. Nicky is the definition of a professional--passionate, knowledgeable, and highly experienced. From the moment we met, I knew I was in great hands. He worked on my knee in ways I never knew were possible while strengthening my entire body. Beyond the workouts themselves, it was the conversations, encouragement, and education between sets that made every session valuable. After just 12 sessions, the transformation was unbelievable. I feel stronger, more mobile, and more confident than I have in a long time. I've also dealt with chronic lower back pain for years. Halfway through our time together, my back started bothering me again. When I mentioned it to Nicky, his immediate response was, "We're going to work on that today." He completely adjusted that day's workout, focusing on targeted stretches and strengthening exercises for my lower back. The result was incredible--the pain disappeared, and my back actually felt stronger than before. Leaving Oxnard has honestly been the hardest part because I can't take Nicky home with me. If he lived near me, he would be my trainer for life without question. Thank you again, Nicky. You're not only an exceptional trainer but also an incredible human being. I'm grateful our paths crossed, and I can't wait to train with you again the next time I'm back in Oxnard.

There are accomplished martial artists... and then there are people like Graciela. Her level of skill, experience, and depth of knowledge is extraordinary, but what really sets her apart is who she is as a person. She is one of the most dedicated, generous, and genuinely giving instructors I've ever met. She doesn't just teach technique--she gives of herself. Every class, every interaction, you can feel how much she cares about her students and their growth. Spending time at CMA Martial Arts, you quickly realize this isn't just another school. There's a culture there. A feeling. It's disciplined, yes--but also deeply human. Respectful, supportive, and real. What impressed me most is her ability to connect across all levels. I've seen her work with adults--serious practitioners--and deliver high-level, no-nonsense training that commands respect. And in the same breath, she can turn around and work with children in a way that's engaging, uplifting, and full of heart. That balance is rare. She's not just teaching martial arts--she's shaping people. And as someone who has been in the martial arts world for a long time, I don't say this lightly: Graciela Casillas is one of the most accomplished and inspirational martial artists I've had the honor to train with. If you're looking for a place to train where the instruction is world-class, the culture is authentic, and the leadership truly cares--CMA Martial Arts is something special. I'm grateful for every opportunity I've had to learn from her, and I look forward to many more. -- Gregory Poretz
