I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Dolman and that was when I knew Dr. Dolman was extremely knowledgeable and I could trust him with this procedure. Dr. Dolman is not pushy like a number of doctors are. Rather, he explains what would happen if you don't remove certain teeth and what would happen if you do. His explanations were clear and helped me prepare mentally for what I was about to go through. Doing any sort of dental work is usually pretty scary and pulling wisdom teeth is one of the scariest procedures for me due to the fears of dry sockets and things going wrong. However, Dr. Dolman is very experienced and goes above and beyond to make sure that his patients are safe, comfortable, and at ease before, during and after the procedure. Did I mention that during the procedure, I didn't feel a thing and was very relaxed? I didn't think that could be possible in a situation where someone would be yanking your teeth. What makes Dr. Dolman stand out is the experience post operation. I was provided a printout of what to expect for the next few weeks during recovery, what to eat and how often to change gauzes. Exactly one week ago, Dr. Calat numbed the area completely, and it took him about 5 min to pull out both teeth. He was quick, precise, and thorough. Before I knew it, he was cleaning the area and suturing the extraction sites. He did say that it didn't always happen so easily, and it could take up to 2 hours in some cases. I had some pain that went away with Motrin and Tylenol the first day. The second day, there was no pain, only low-grade fever 99.8F. I didn't need any painkillers. I ate soft and mashed food and followed the instruction from the after-care list. I took Motrin before sleep just in case but didn't need it. After the procedure, I received post-op instructions, and to my surprise, he personally called me that evening to make sure I was doing okay. That was something I never expected. Whenever I called or texted, he would always respond or call back as soon as he was available. I also had a dental extraction with bone graft done by him, and it was the same excellent experience. I left a note late in the evening around 8.45pm, got a call back around 8.30 in the morning, and my appointment was set for 11am the same day! The clinic was easy to locate and a 10mins walk from the 33rd St PATH station (I was coming in from JC). Barbara (the receptionist and assistant), was quick to start the paper work and I was in the dentist's operating chair within 15mins. Dr Sherman gave a patient hearing to my case, and after checking the x-ray, gave me a crisp and concise overview of what needs to be done next. After my consent, I was given a local anesthesia, and two of my wisdom tooth were extracted, the whole process taking about 15-20mins. I was then given a detailed advisory about the post surgical care to be taken, and was on my way back home in the next 10mins! There was minimal pain once the anesthesia effects sidelined. I visited again within a week to get the stitch removed, and was out of the clinic again in 5mins!!! It's less expensive for me to go out of network and to have one doctor do everything instead of handing off to my dentist. Implants aren't really covered. This office has to hand off to a dentist because Dr. Tarlo is a surgeon. I wanted to write a review though because had it not been for this office, I wouldn't have been clued in to the steps to take for all of this. After three calls they reluctantly prescribed antibiotics (which I insisted upon after ChatGPT diagnosed it as a likely deep tissue infection), which ultimately solved the problem. But when they agreed to send the rx in they literally told me that I should go see a doctor instead of calling back. QUESTIONABLE PROCEDURE I ended up having to go to an emergency dentist. When they looked at the cut made in my mouth they remarked that it seemed unnecessarily deep, basically to the bone. 5 weeks later and it's still not fully healed. So yeah. (4) Their website claims "a secondary benefit is that the laser also sterilizes the wound leading to decreased infection rates." This is also not a real advantage since a traditional frenectomy is performed with sterile scissors. (5) Not taking insurance, then charging a 4.25% credit card fee, otherwise expecting cash or check. (I should note that surgical frenectomies are typically covered by many insurance plans). These are things that did not sit well with us when we considered Dr. Siegel's services. If you can, try to get a second opinion from a pediatric ENT doctor before making a decision...
