I like Bowling Green quite a lot. I think there is justification to call it a hidden gem. The fact that a large state University is there allows it to punch above its weight a little bit as far as things to do, see and experience. The downtown area I've always found to be rather nice. It's distinctively the town center and there are shops and restaurants worth patronizing. The University presence is not overwhelming but you know it's there. And the cultural outgrowth that comes from the presence of a substantial academic institution widens the appeal of the town. The availability of concerts and other productions as well as sporting events associated with BGSU make it an even more inviting place to visit on occasion. The downtown is fun to stroll and restaurants like Stone's Throw, Pizza Pub, Campus Pollyeyes and Easy Street make it a prime place to hang out and have a good meal. It's not the most exciting place to put on a vacation itinerary, but it's a nice stop on a pass-through or an interesting Saturday destination if you live close by. read more
