Most bowling alleys (if not part of a chain, ie Brunswick), have a dreary vibe to them - dark, dank and unkempt - but not here. We arrived at 1pm for the birthday party, and all of the lanes were already busy. You can tell that this business books a lot of parties - and I can see why! The price per person for parties is fantastic! They have multiple tiers of both children and adult parties, as well as corporate and fundraising events. We had chicken fingers and pizza, and both were better than you'd expect at a bowling alley. The party even had a coordinator; he kept the time very on track, and was very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend Plainfield Lanes as a local outing or party spot!

On the other hand, this place is also a little more high end compared to your old fashion bowling/dive bar places. The location was very easy to find. We used Google Navigation and it lead us directly to the place. If you miss the entrance, it might be a little annoying to backtrack but no big issues. Parking was no issues and it is very big compared to the size of the building. We showed up on a busy Wednesday where it is penny pins so you only pay a penny per pin you knock down. Essentially...the worst you are, the cheaper your game will be. Inside the building is very nice and clean. There are two entrances..one is a "restaurant" and the other is the decent sized arcade and bowling. There is a self serving beer tap. And they do serve food. They do a little star less due to the prices of the food as well. It is better than your traditional bar/bowling food but it is a little more expensive. Also, I do enjoy the service of the self serving beer tap. They had a lot of selections of beer, 1-2 seltzers, 1 cider and ~5 wine selection. Also, they do have a "limit" of ~32 oz where the bartender can allow you or less depending on how you act. I do appreciate that so while you can drink feely, no one is getting drunk. I think we were paying ~.60 cents an oz and it does tell you how much your drink will cost as you are pouring. Also, they do have a small water station will is greatly appreciated. The arcade is decently sized. They do have a lot of selections of games but it is not a place where I would go just for the arcade. The size is good for after bowling or while you are waiting for your lane. Overall, I am very impressed with this location. Food, self serving beer tap, and arcades... I am fan of Twisted Pins and I would be back in the future.

I'm going to break the cycle with a good review. We first came to the alley on a rainy Saturday…read moreafternoon and had a good time. It was buy two games and get the third for free. It was fairly crowded but everything we did and had was handled well. We had drinks from the bar but no food. We noticed an advertisement for Tuesday night 25 cent bowling with a 6.50 cover charge so we decided to go back on Tuesday. When we got there, the cashier said that the special starts at 6:00 p.m. and we were there at 5:30 p.m. She said that the computer would charge us full price if we started at 5:30 p.m. That's understandable so we sat in the lounge and had a cocktail and did a little gambling. She came and got us about 10 minutes later and said we could check in. Everyone was very nice. We took advantage of the 50 cent hotdogs and French fries and bowled three games each. Everything is clean and organized and the food and drinks were handled well and promptly. We told the cashier/bartender/food person that we really enjoyed the evening and she joked about us being together a long time and still having fun together... haha. Been here twice now and have had two good experiences!!

And for the value the kids had a good time. We had food at the bar. Typical bowling alley kinda fare. I had the BLT and deep fried mushrooms. The Hubs had the same but had fried pickles instead. Everything came out hot and as can be expected a good level of grease (I mean that adds to the flavor,no)? Not bad for a bowling alley. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Overall pretty standard.

Bowling there is always fun! Great atmosphere! However I want to caution against taking kids here…read more I don't have any myself, but I'm making this point for kids and also from my personal experience. They don't have ANY balls less than 9 pounds. I can just about lift the 9-pounders, but it's hard for me to bowl properly because they make my arm twist a bit when I bowl because they are so heavy. I feel like the only way children can even bowl is if they use the alligator ramps that they have off to the side for balls to get pushed off of. The second thing I wanted to mention is their ridiculous "no outside food" rule. My mom and I had just walked over from Butterfly after having a late breakfast to meet some of my family for a couple games when a lady behind the counter refused to let me keep my food inside the building with me, even though I literally told her at least twice that it was just leftovers from butterfly and that it would just be sitting on the table. Not like I would have popped it open to eat it while bowling. I just find it ridiculous that she couldn't just make an exception and allow me to keep my food inside there with me, because it forced me to have to go out to put it in my aunt's trunk until we were done. That was just unnecessary in general because my waffle pieces were in a foam container and nothing was spilling out or anything. I just want to warn people that if you are going there to play after eating at butterfly, I suggest either finishing at the restaurant or throwing your food out if you leave your car parked by Butterfly.

However the staff was not at all friendly. We came in with two kids, a two year old and infant. Obviously the infant wasn't bowling. We were told that the bumpers would not be put up for our two year old. Once we got setup, the owner came in telling us to keep the kids under control (assuming we didn't know how to watch the kids). Then preceded to tell us we had to sign a waiver for the kids to bowl. After the hassle of that part of the family ended up having to leave with the kids.
