I like Bowl-A-Vard for the most part. It's kept up really well. Always seems clean and tidy and the lanes rarely ever malfunction (at least in my experience). Staff has always been awesome. Just yesterday, we arrived with some Bucky Book coupons, and the guys said sure no problem, but also pointed out to us the current "special" which was a much better deal than our coupons would have been. Told us to hold on to the coupons for another time and gave us the special. He could have easily just taken the coupons and made more money off us, but didn't. I really appreciate that sorta thing. The only complaint I have, and it's minimal, is that I really having space around me, and when it's not busy, I prefer lanes to be spread out. The guy was doing a good job of doing every-other for the most part, but it was super empty when we arrived and I would have liked even more space. Unfortunately a loud group of bro's showed up shortly after us and were given the two lanes directly next to us. We ended up leaving early 100% because of how awful and annoying they were. Had nothing to do with the service or bowling alley. Just.. ugh. Bro's. Loud, drunk, shouting at each other, one of them wearing street shoes on the bowling floor (HUGE pet peeve of mine.) This alley offers a decent sized bar, a large arcade area, bowling leagues, volleyball leagues, a pro shop, and probably other amenities. Overall, it's a pretty legit place. I've been in many times and will certainly return!

    My meal

$8 onion rings which had about 6 on our plate and $9 slider plate. Food was good and value for sliders good. But seriously $8 for 6 onion rings. Disappointed.

We chose bowling and Colleen, the general manager of Bowl-a-vard lanes, was so supportive and flexible with our group.

You don't need to reload cards. Kids can use any machine as quick as they can. Just using a few continues on arcade games alone gets there very quickly. They have a bunch of the good Star Wars arcade games that are slightly older yet still tons of fun. I love the 4 player X-men arcade game room along with all the marvel comics variants as four player games. That is awesome to play through and beat them all with friends. Needs improvement They desperately need better HVAC. Having teenage boys and gamer kids inevitably means fewer showers. It's noticeable as you walk in and hits you like a truck. While we have been here before and it didn't have an odor then, this is a hurdle you need to cross if not remedied immediately. A surprisingly low amount of pinball cabinets and of the ones they have, half of them work. A bunch of the seats have ripped edges, duct tape and broken plastic. Overall It's a B sort of place that older teenagers will not be thrilled with but middle school kids will love it

It was exhausting. Decided to break down and get my own ball. After looking online and realizing I'm far out of my depth, I called here. There's more to bowling than expected. Side note - call and set up an appointment. They do walk-ins but life is easier all around if you call ahead. Anyway, once I got in we discussed what precisely I was looking for and what I'd been doing. Then we went back to look at my form on the in-house practice alley. I've been doing it all wrong. Honestly I'm not surprised. Next step was picking a ball. Given that I'm used to yeeting the ball as hard as possible and now I've been taught to actually have a bit of technique we went with a medium ball. It's actually heavier than what I've been using, but the ball does most of the work now. Tons of finger measurements later, the ball was drilled right in front of me, capped, and cleaned up. After that, we went back to the practice alley (which is pretty sweet, not gonna lie) to see how everything fit and worked. A few adjustments and I was good to go. So far as pricing goes, they explained that they make a set amount off each ball instead of some sliding scale. This means they work to get you the ball that works best for you, not just the one that's making the most profit. Given that I got a ball, custom fitting, drilling, and adjustments done (as well as a bag and a few accessories) I feel I got my money's worth. I think this is going to raise my average quite a bit once I get used to it. Would definitely recommend.
