They explained that the best they could do was send the phone away, Have the battery replaced, and get it back to me within a week time. Under normal circumstances, this would not have a problem, but I explained I was leaving in two days and I had important material on the phone that I was desperate to preserve. They explained that there was a possibility I could lose the texts and photos, and that the battery could possibly explode ruining the phone. My chances were 50-50. Ultimately after roughly an hour and a half wait I decided to take my phone and chance it making it through a flight home. They explained everything thoroughly, very well, and worked to help me find a solution. This caused my phone to lock up. Could not turn it off, close the the download, etc. I am traveling in Paris. Everything is on my phone. Was stranded. Could not get an Uber, make a call, turn the phone off -- even emergency did not work! Made it to the Apple Store at Marche Saint Germaine and they unlocked my phone -- Praise God!!! I am now deleting all the BS apps that came installed when I bought the phone. Note to Apple: Technology is only good when it works!

They required a passport for the transaction. Three hours later, I realized the passport was not returned to me (OK, just as much my fault for not checking...), but what happened next reflects very poorly on this establishment. I went back, the store was closed, and my tour bus was leaving Paris in the AM before The Phone House opens. I telephoned twice from the road, and after confirming that they were in possession of the passport, they twice refused to talk to me any further, telling me they had customers they needed to attend to and they would call me back in an hour. I suggested that I would give them my FedEx account number and to please forward the passport to me at my next hotel, but they refused, saying that the only solution was for me to return in person to pick up the passport. Our tour escort arranged for a friend to go to the store and pick up the passport, but that person was turned away. Finally, after a heated telephone call where I demanded that they give the passport to the friend, they relented. Beware of The Phone House and their poor customer service.
