We came here to see Dolly Parton in the Windsor Hall. Great venue, intimate, easy to park and low stress to get to. How concerts should be.

This was a bit of a random choice for me, a last mine business booking, but I truly feel on my feet…read morewith this Hotel. The Orchid has been having a full refurbishment over the past 4 months, and it's clear to see. The hotel was beautifully understated elegance with modern designer furnishings. My room was decorated with a soft pallete of greys, faun and autumnal colours which made it very restful. The chrome finishes added a touch of luxury and the view to the terrace was lovely. The breakfast room is also very funky with modern decor and a great full english breakfast, only let down by the cold plate it was served on which meant it was only just warm. Other touches like being given fresh milk at revolution were very pleasing as we're the USB power points in the room. If I'm back in Bournemouth I'll be back at The Orchid! NB: There was a warning in the room about some noise from parties and events on Friday and Saturday nights, so if you're not attending said events then be careful at weekend!

The public areas consist of a bar and restaurant, with lobby seating area and also a cute litt;e courtyard garden. Breakfast was quite tasty, with plenty on offer. The room we got was not great - although the website claims baths in all the rooms, ours only had a shower. We overlooked the car park and fire escape, were the maids kept popping out to have a fag, with the smell of smoke wafting into our room - lovely! There are better places in Bournemouth to stay for the price - don't be fooled by the internet pictures.

Well now! Looking for a place to have Sunday lunch on mothers day, I came across "The Lazy Shark"…read morein Boscombe, They offered a £7.00 Sunday lunch with 6 veg and a free glass of wine, There was also a "buy one, get the second free" and I read the reviews, it looked good so I phoned and booked a table for 5 adults and a kiddie for 1pm, the guy on the phone was very pleasant but not too with it! We turned up at 1pm sharp, the dining area was a little disappointing, drab and paper tablecloths, there were 6 tables, only one other table occupied by four people who had obviously ordered,. We ordered the Sunday lunch, and were told it might be half an hour, so we sat and sat and sat, our meal finally arrived at ten past two, Meat was reasonable, carrots not cooked, cauliflower cheese came separately in a bowl filled with milk "no cheese" at all, roast and boiled potatoes were of the precooked frozen type mostly inedible, peas, sweetcorn and cabbage, just about passable. We declined a sweet, really wanting to get out as quickly as possible as the bar adjoining was defining with the unruly behavior of a dozen or so at the bar. Our bill came at full price and no discount for the lack of wine. Won't be going back!!!!!!!!!!

The Lazy Shark is a bar/restaurant situated on Christchurch Road just off of Boscombe High Street…read more Fancying a bite to eat, I entered this establishment, not so much attracted by the relatively dull exterior but more so by the vibrant atmosphere emitting from inside. The inside had two parts to it, a bar side and a restaurant side which I found pleasantly quiet! Less than a minute after sitting down I was approached by a member of staff called Marie, who was friendly, welcoming and had my chosen drink at the table within another minute! The menu itself contained a range of main courses, desserts on a blackboard and 'shark bites' a combination of traditional starters and tapas dishes. I went for the relatively healthy Humous with vegetable batons and pitta bread as a starter (which was presented attractively and tasted great!) but decided the diet started tomorrow when it came to the main course - a 'Build Your Own Tower Burger' with chips, going for the relatively boring cheese, bacon and lettuce as toppings - everything from stilton to potato waffles were availible to put on it! The service was prompt once again and the burger itself was big enough to easily justify the £7 price tag, and tasty enough to be worth more! Throughout my meal the staff were helpful and accomadating, more than one meber of staff checked with me regularly to ensure that everything was ok with my meal. All in all, I sampled some great food and service, and the only question on my mind afterwards was why more people were not enjoying the excellent food on offer on a Friday afternoon!
