Mark is a great fisherman and more importantly a great guy. I have always caught something on this boat and more importantly been on Yellowfin @40#, Bluefin over 100#, and great rock fishing. I would suggest trying a rock fishing / yellowtail / Ling cod trip first and then consider a longer trip when the Pelagic's are active. This was my second trip with CAPT Mark and can't wait to book my next one. Despite the tuna not biting and the seal lions stealing our yellowtail we still had a blast. What a day on the water with Mark and Boundless Boat Charters. I took my 2 sons and my future son in law out for a 3/4 day of fishing yesterday and was keeping my fingers crossed that we would all catch some fish. Mark was on time for the 6:30am departure as my cell rang at 6:25 with a call from Mark who I could see was approaching the loading dock. We got some great bait and headed straight to I.B. where we fished green dirty water for a halibut and a small bonito. I went out on a 3/4 day trip with Captain Mark last week. I arranged the excursion thru email and text messages. Mark was very straightforward and communicated with me very well. I arranged the fishing trip with my wife and my sister (who lives in SD). We arranged to go fishing at 7am. He was on time and met up with us at the marina. His boat is very clean and well maintained. We fished our hearts out that day. We headed out of the San Diego Harbor for a day of offshore fishing. First, Mark put us on a school of yellowtail about an hour and a half into the day. We trolled over to another spot where we got into school of yellowfin tuna. So disappointing. We planned this trip for months to celebrate my husband's birthday, which just happened to fall during the height of fishing season, so it seemed like it'd be perfect timing. We paid for the offshore, 3/4 day trip. We spoke with Mark often, especially the week before, to see how and where the fish were biting. And as we approached the dock that morning, we were excited to see folks coming in loaded with tuna. I know there's no way to guarantee that the fish will bite, but barely a nibble. After 9 hours, 15m offshore - Nothing. It was an expensive boat ride. Now, I don't know proper boat charter etiquette, but I do know about guided hunts. If you get skunked, the outfitters will usually credit you back a discount or at least offer a discount for another try in the future. We got a "sorry" and on our way. The boat was clean. The captain was a really nice guy. Frustrating that fishing licenses were supposed to be included and were extra. I would think long and hard about coming back. read more

You know you have a great captain when it seemed like he is more excited than you are after you have caught fish! Really loved the enthusiasm, friendliness and professionalism that Captain Mark showed. His boat is clean, comfortable, powerful, stable and is really well organized. Captain Mark really worked hard to put you on good fishing spots. We caught a huge halibut and lots of rock fish. It really was a good catch for only half a day fishing and the whether was on the cold side. I went with my son and my wife. My wife did not fish but she had such a great time as well. Captain Mark was really inclusive and was so easy to get along with. We saw pods of dolphins, seals and lots of interesting birds as well. A review long overdue for one of the best fishing experiences I've ever had. The trip was back in October 2020, Captain Mark adhered to covid-19 safety protocols first and foremost. Captain Mark was extremely patient and gave a lot of advice when asked. He was extremely friendly and easy to have a conversation with. You could tell that he put in a lot of effort to make sure the experience was enjoyable for people of all levels of fishing experience. Captain Mark made our first family fishing trip in San Diego unforgettable. Out of the five charters we were considering, we decided to go with Captain Mark for two reasons: professionalism and responsiveness. When we initially reached out about booking, he took his time to explain to us all the different options without rushing / pressuring us, which we experienced with some of the other charters. Up until the day of the trip, Captain Mark was in close communication with us about the weather conditions, what to expect and even took the initiative to take care of our permits. Simply put, he provided 5-star service even before the actual fishing trip. On the day of the fishing trip, he made us feel comfortable and safe from the get go by explaining to us all the safety protocols, showing us where to access different components of the boat and by being so friendly. We had a member on the trip who went out on a boat for the first time and he said he felt comfortable the whole time because of Captain Mark. As we were heading to go offshore fishing, we were lucky enough to see hundreds of dolphins - not sure if this is common in SD, but we were amazed by the sheer number of them which was a cool way to start the day. Once we arrived at our destination, we did some tuna fishing and came close two times, but decided to go bottom fishing after the unsuccessful attempts and ended up with 13 fish, including a Lingcod, in total! We had very low expectations coming in, but Captain Mark has now the set the bar really high. We can't wait for our next trip and would recommend anyone on the fence to give it a shot! Below are the actions for the outstanding review: - Due to family issues, Mark was very accommodating in changing the date even though we are within 2 weeks to trip...very compassionate and willing to cancel the trip with no charge. - It is toward the end of the tuna season but it my wife wish list to catch a big fish. Mark gather intel with other captains to plan the trip event.....he delivered! We end up with 3 YT-Tunas, 1-SkipJack Tuna, and a bonito. We could have caught much more but the inexperience on our side lost a few fish and a few birdnest also kill some of the times....caught all the fish in 3/4 day trip! - The key ingredient in a great Captain is not only to find the fish but provide the experience we can never forget. His positive attitude and always...always...check on us if we have a rough time handling the small waves. When the action is on, he commitment is outstanding. Always hooking new bait and make to get the line wet quickly as possible to guarantee action. - Equipment and boat condition: Mark has different reels for lures and live bait. The equipment is great shape (almost new) and has no issues handling the fish. The boat was well equipped and even have private bathroom for my wife if needed. - Cherry on top of the experience: Knowing we have to fly out the next day, Mark pull in favors for us to dropped off the fish for processing (cut, vaccum seal) even though the place was already closed. They were also have the processing completed early morning time for us to fly back home. - In Summary: It is a experience we never going to forget! Today I took out my family for a half day of fishing. Mark met us early and nothing could have been better. Mark was easy to hang with, very helpful and he found us fish!!! I wanted to take my father and brother in-law offshore for a fishing trip. Captain Mark was one of the best guides and very helpful. We purchased the near-shore day that goes up to 2 miles offshore. The first spot we went to was right off La Jolla and we hooked up on some nice yellowtail! Then we tried our luck bottom fishing in a couple different locations and hooked up on some brown rockfish, vermilion rockfish, treefish, and even a sculpin. The day was great all around; the coolest part was when we got cheese burgers floated to us on the open ocean by a nearby charter, luckily Captain Mark is in good with their chef. After the day was done we filleted the fish and then he took us back to the marina at Mission Bay. So thankful that I got to show the in-laws a couple things about salt-water fishing.
