I have experience with other veterinarians in the area and I have found Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic to be far and above the best. From the time I walk in with my Aussiedoodle to when we leave we are treated with respect and kindness. My doodle is 12 years old and they are mindful of this in his treatment. Options are always discussed. Being given all the information about any condition makes decisions about his care much easier. read more

After an estimate for neutering of $500-$600, the final bill was nearly $1,500. But the procedure itself was much more invasive and left my poor dog with multiple incisions. All of this was done without consulting me. I likely would have agreed if it was explained to me, but that's not the point. Arriving to pick him up and being presented with that bill was a shock. The response I got was that I could apply for credit if that helped. Again, not the point. Our family has relied on this vet for 20 years and 3 dogs over that time. My wife and I have been going to Bound Brook Vet Clinic for over 20 years. The staff and Doctors at BBVC are caring and attentive. Here is the problem. They are constantly over booked. When your pet has a problem you want to bring them to the Doctors you trust. There is less than a 50/50 chance when you call for a same day appointment that you can get in. I understand resources are limited but putting a daily calendar together should include a few blocks of time reserved for long term customers and their pets. read more

My 1 stars are 5 for the staff at front end and Vet assistants. I tried to hang on here. I'm ashamed of that. Perhaps because it's close, or I feel I have the best of the worst vets and being a few years new to this state, not knowing where else to go. This review is based on the care we received from Dr. Dave. After having lost 2 of my 3 dogs in a short time, we're down to Niko with whom I noticed a change in his behavior. I notice a change in everything, but I wasn't being heard! I personally feel DR DAVE thinks I was projecting a disease on Niko that my prior dog had, who recently passed. I have the results in my hand and my dog Niko does have Cushing Disease. He deserved an appropriate diagnosis so we can treat him accordingly. whilst I am a big believer in a holistic approach, there comes a time when you need the hand and help from Western medicine but we couldn't even get to the test (s), as he refused to do the tests and he was going in the wrong direction saying Niko had liver disease, or liver infection. I got an ultrasound, which proved it was none of that. Nikos liver enzymes became extremely high over just 3 months. Losing his 2 best friends set it off. No doubt. I noticed he had an extreme increased thirst, became incontinent at night while asleep, always a fussy eater and 14lbs, his appetite became ravenous and he gained 6 lbs. His hair began thinning and he developed these little pimples on his back, face and neck. He was panting a lot, and could no longer even walk a few houses down, whereas 3 months earlier we were walking 1 mile. He became weak. I KNOW MY DOG!! While dr Dave treats 100s of dogs a week, I just have Niko. My experience prior to moving to NJ, as a confirmed rescuer and foster- saving puppy mill dogs, and my own rescue, Bonnie, I noticed the signs of Cushing Disease . I'm paying a lot of money here and I gotta request copies of the blood work, research on the computer what each code means seeing what is high and what's low..... I mean this is a real joke, right? I have become a veterinarian by doing my own research I'm able to see his liver enzymes continually and consistently keep getting high. I've gotten new blood work done every 4 weeks for 4 months!! something is causing his liver enzymes to be high and that something is also causing the skin issues and the symptoms that I described above . that something I felt was Cushing disease but he refused to test for it. I patronize him and I go along the way but I mean, honestly -these are NOT just animals, these are our children, these are our family that we love and they deserve better care especially in their senior years. I took Niko to a specialty place and i got 2 tests done for Cushing's, and lastly an mri. Guess what?? NIKO DOES HAVE PITUITARY DEPENDENT CUSHING'S DISEASE. HIS CORTISOL LEVELS ARE HIGH and Myopathy, which explains the change in his voice that you dismissed! He is responding well to low dose of vetoryl and my holistic care of phosphatidylserine, melatonin and HMR lignans --that research has shown can suppress the production of corticosteroids, the root cause of Cushing's. Myos muscle supplement helps his muscle weakness in his legs. I'd also like to add-on the tail end of my Bonnie's life he did her wrong and prescribed medication for a 100 pound dog when she was 17 pounds within an hour should be dying within a week should be dead. you could have sent me a card man and pono honestly, a dog with end-stage cancer you can't give him some type of pain medication?? here's how I feel:::: I think you failed my furfamily and I think I hung on here way too long and got corky and nervous every time with you....fighting for my dog's life- that's pretty much what I've been doing since I moved to New Jersey -Fighting for proper diagnosis for my dogs . I started with 3 now 1. Avoid this place if your dog is older or has something serious, Niko would be dead of liver failure by now. The staff at the front desk Is awful!! Unprofessional!! Judy is very rude!! The vet lacks empathy and the services are overpriced!!

We took our dog there for years. She had Cushings Disease and needed very expensive medication, but we loved her. At one point she got an eye infection and we were having problems getting the drops in her eyes. They prescribed Xanax to calm her down, then doubled the dose and said they were adding an oral antibiotic. However, the bottle of medication we got from them had a strong sedative in it instead of an antibiotic, although the label said it was an antibiotic. They overdosed my dog and I had to rush her to Animerge for treatment for a drug overdose. Dr. Amato was apologetic at first, but when the issue of their being at fault for an 800 dollar emergency vet bill, they denied any part in almost killing our dog. I couldn't even get 800 in credit against her Cushings medication. Never again. read more

I have to start off by saying how wonderful the entire staff has always been. From the team at the front desk to all of the vets, everyone has always been very helpful and friendly. We switched our four dogs to bbv about 3-4 years ago after trying other local vets and never being fully satisfied for various reasons. Like most our dogs are like our children. Our first visit we were given Dr. Amato and she was wonderful, then a second time Dr. Dave had a cancellation and our appointment was with him. From that appointment on he has been our vet (outside of the few times we needed an emergency visit and he wasn't available or out of office) Bound Brook vet as a whole has always went above and beyond for our dogs. We almost lost one due to pancreatitis a year ago and with the help of them and animerge in Raritan, she has been doing great. Dr. Dave has always recommended the right testing to get to the bottom of her health issues as well as pairing the appropriate medication to keep her as healthy as she can be with her liver condition. He's always called to follow up to check on our dogs if they've been ill or had something going on and overall you can tell he really loves his job and caring for all of our pets is what he does best. We are so lucky we've found this veterinary clinic Dr. Dave, Dr. Cuevas and Dr. Amato are truly the best and we can't say enough about this place as a whole! read more

I can't say enough good things about Bound Brook Vet. I have been brining my dogs here for three years and I love this place. The quality of care is superb, and prices are actually reasonable. All of the staff is respectful and compassionate. One of my dogs has a very complicated medical history, and I have always felt that each other the doctors (especially Amato!) cared for her as if she was their own. They are also flexible about fitting in last minute visits. This place is the best! Even though I moved 30 minutes away, I will never switch vets. read more

Our vet retired during Covid so we found this Veterinary Clinic online to use as a replacement for our elderly Min pin. Dr. Cueves is a true gem. She took her time each appt to answer my many questions and called me to check in on how Cyrus, our dog was doing on his new meds and food. Dr. Cueves explained all of our options each time we ran into an issue with Cyrus's health and was honest and thoughtful in her approach. The entire staff is incredibly warm and caring and I cannot say enough good things. Unfortunately the office was flooded during Ida so we were unable to visit when our dog fell ill and said goodbye to us a couple weeks ago. We will definitely visit this vet again should we decide to welcome a new pet into our home. read more

We as family put our dog to sleep on Saturday the staff treated us like a family hurting alongside with us.The doctors bedside manner so to speak was impeccable and made our family feel like our death in the family really mattered to him and every staff member as well ! So I've been going to this vet for many many years to Dr. Randall who either retired or sold the practice, not sure. But Dr. Cuevas became the top vet there so we continued to go. We weren't totally thrilled but it was fine. Until we had to put down my 9lb pinchahuahua. She was brought back into the room with sheer terror in her eyes as she jumped from them literally to my husband. She had an IV in her tiny leg. I thought the vet bent down to give her some sedation and next thing I knew my husband dropped her legs from the dead weight, he just wasn't ready yet. I was supposed to hold her and that never happened. She had already administered euthanasia. I also brought with me a kit to take her paw print but they swore at least 6-7 times they would take care of it. I never received her paw prints and it's been 2 months so it's safe to say I probably never will. We have now found our old vet who used to work there and opened her own clinic in S. Bound Brook, Happy Pets, we've moved all of the pets in our family to Dr. Sulner there. This literally haunted my dreams for weeks and I'm not sure I'll ever get over it. read more

After Dr. Randal retired and Dr. Sulner left, that place is unorganized and my dog was not getting the right meds. The staff doesn't call you back when they say they will, they don't follow through, Judy is normally nasty, etc etc etc. Needless to say, I've left the practice. read more

I found Bound Brook vet clinic after many horrible experiences with customer service at my previous vet. I was hesitant to switch because my cat is a senior and in his old age he is quite grumpy about leaving the house or being in a carrier for any length of time. Usually I make the first appointment of the day and the staff has been nothing but kind, understanding and relatively quick about payment/paperwork. Doctor Amato is an angel, seriously lets me pet his head and keep him calm while she exaimes/gives shots, etc. Really listens to your concerns and never makes you feel rushed. read more

I was apprehensive about visiting during the pandemic but I was really impressed by how smoothly and efficiently the office staff handled patients and their owners. After a brief wait in the parking lot, we went right into the treatment room and Dr. Amato came right away. She was so gentle with my terrified 16-year-old cat and calmed her right away. I stayed in the room while Sophie was treated and then we waited in the car for the paperwork. Dr. Amato was thorough and explained the health issues clearly. This is truly a place where the whole staff cares about the animals they treat. I've been taking my pets there for over 20 years and would not consider going anywhere else! read more

My wife and I and our dogs have been clients of Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic for as long as I can remember and Ward and his staff have always been there when we needed them. The level of love and caring shown our dogs over the years has been nothing short of amazing. At a clinic we used many years ago we always felt like our pet was a name in a file more than a beloved member of the family. Several years ago we had to put our beloved Bernie to sleep on very short notice. I called Ward and while he couldn't get to the office in time he had another vet meet us there on a Sunday, after hours and helped us through this most difficult of times. This is an exceptional medium-sized clinic with 3 staff vets. My dog has been seen by Dr. Schroepfer and Dr. Sulner, both are very kind, intelligent doctors. There is a vet tech named LeighAnn (sp?) who is an absolute doll, all of the receptionists are also very sweet. My 1 year old boxer has been treated here for the following: ear mites and conjunctivitis at 14 weeks routine vaccinations (e.g. rabies) spaying/microchipping at 6 months emergency X-rays and treatment for gastroenteritis after she ate a whole rotisserie chicken off the counter (bad girl) at 8 months I would strongly disagree with a Google reviewer who claimed that this clinic "only cares about money." Not at all. When Lucy got spayed, Dr. Sulner called me as soon as she woke up from the anesthesia and even emailed me a picture of my poor baby with the cone on her head haha. The rotisserie chicken debacle did cost about $500, but...they kept Lucy the next day for observation while I was at work (at no extra charge), and also did not charge me for the 2nd set of X-rays to make sure that the bone fragments had moved through her intestines. Everyone always takes REALLY good care of her when she's there. I've never once felt "hosed", or like they pushed extra medications or follow-up visits on me. I do have Trupanion pet insurance, and filling out a claim form has never been a problem with them. They'll do it right away at the office visit so that you can submit your claim immediately. They have excellent hours for the working professional -- open 3 nights a week until 7pm. Office is always very clean, no gross pet smells. Most if not all of the reviews for this clinic that are positive are from the previous doctor that sold/retired. I went to here with my dog and was met with a tech who overly excited my dog and continued to rile her up the entire visit. My dog is well behaved but in an environment that is already easy to become overstimulated, I found it frustrating that the tech was not calming or preparing her for the exam properly. On top of that, no one informed me that a flu shot was going to be administered to my dog (nor did they give me any info on this shot/ask me for permission), which I would have declined had I known that it was a "lifestyle" vaccine and not necessary. I felt rushed out of the office and no one even let me know that the shot needed a 3 week booster. Did not feed comfortable here, exam was not thorough, and I will not be returning. read more

Dr. Ward Randall, his Associates and his staff are so advanced in their Veterinary knowledge and expertise in their treatment of our "Scarlett and "Matilda".. if this weren't enough.. their love and care and the time they spend with you on your visit is over and above! Every "child" we have ever had.. Our beloved Sara, Savyer and Spanky have had the best care possible until they went to the Rainbow Bridge! I truly cannot say enough about them! read more

This practice isn't a good one for your pets. The customer service has gone down hill. When I call a lot of times I was placed on hold for a long period. I have also noticed that they place people on hold and just continue on with their conversation with another employee. They don't do a full exam on the pet. read more

I began going to Bound Brook Vet Clinic with my Dachshund Phoebe a number of years ago. I am extremely pleased I made this decision. Both doctors are very professional and kind. They appear to have chosen their professions wisely. They are very fair with their prices, and the wait time is usually reasonable. Today, I had another visit that I was impressed with. One simple x ray determined my dogs enlarged heart. The doctor gave us medication which I am hoping will allow us to see her 17th birthday this December! I've heard from people that this place hires anyone for their technicians, they aren't certified technicians. Also, I just recently found out that they were sold to PetVet Care Centers so Dr. Randall doesn't own this place any longer. Lot of complaints and issues from this place. There is a new veterinary at this place. She has a serious attitude and runs all these unnecessary test often to run up your bill! You have the other doctor who you can't even understand since he is always mumbling. Very quick with appointments. I have also had an issue in the past with my medication refill. I was given the wrong pills for my pet. Luckily I caught on to it! This has happened to a few people. You have a women named Judy who has made a few mistakes and my friend had an issue with Laura who miscounted her pills. Its all about the money! Be careful!! I have been to this Vet clinic a handful of times as we are new to the area and our vet is an hour plus away. I have never had a problem getting an appointment even if it was last minute. The staff is always professional and friendly. My most recent experience was yesterday when I brought in our rescue pup. He needed to be shaved down, have shots, and a physical as well as blood work. Dr. Amato and her staff were amazing to say the least. Our pup is reactive and aggressive at times due to his abusive past. Dr. Amato was able to sedate our pup and get everything done for him so that he wouldn't have to come back again and be sedated until he needs shots/physical next year. She explained everything and called me when our pup was all done to explain how it went and to let me know about his physical and shave down. Her staff were able to bond with him and they were even able to walk him out to me when finished which is no easy task. These people are animal lovers through and through. i am writing this review on yelp for bound brook veterinary clinic because i have had so much experience with them. through the years-about 27 of them! - we have relied on the vets at bb through three dogs (2 of which lived for 18 and 15 years!) and a cat (who lived for 15 years)! it was through the excellent care and attention of all the vets at b.b. that our beloved pets did so well. to say that all the vets have compassion and understanding is an understatement. the loving care demonstrated by them always put our minds and hearts at ease, whenever we brought in our pets. they always understood and supported that our pets were family members. and in the end, even the final hours were treated with the utmost dignity and compassion. the skills and knowledge of the veterinarian doctors at b.b. is the best you can find---we know, from having moved before b.b. and using previous vets. everything from diagnosis of problems and the appropriate treatment to regular checkup visits-the doctors are on top of everything, with advice and-something we always appreciated-clear and thorough explanations of everything. options for treatment were offered and explained, always with the understanding of what our pets meant to us. through the years our pets received many regular maintenance treatments that kept them going, all with the understanding that their quality of life was always foremost when making decisions about treatment. it was extremely unfortunate when the town of bound brook had the horrible flood with hurricane irene...but even then, the vets and assistants went by boat to check on things before leaving. to have endured and suffered the results of that storm are beyond comprehenstion to us-we can't imagine the pain and suffering those working there went through. and then to face it again during subsequent storms. and yet-persevere they did, and it is a true testament to their skills, knowledge, attitudes, and great care, that after each storm, and still today, b.b. is still thriving and succeeding in all that they do. i join with many other people i know who have sat in that b.b. waiting room for countless hours, worried about our pets, but knowing, as we sat there waiting, that our pets and we would receive the BEST care possible. i join with many other people i know who have gone to b.b. for years, and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. read more

We have brought our dog Abby to Dr. Randall and Dr. Sulner for the past year as she's had normal check-ups and a few health issues. Recently, Abby was very sick and needed to be seen immediately. The staff at Bound Brook Vet changed their schedule to see us and were extremely respectful, knowledgable and caring while Abby was being treated. One of the staff members (not sure of her name) insisted on carrying Abby to my car and into the waiting room. Their service and support for both Abby and us, as owners, was above and beyond. Our cats are very important to us - indeed, they are members of our family, That's why I became very upset when my 11+ year old younger cat began having difficulty walking. At first we thought he had injured himself attempting a jump but then we realized he had a lump under his left leg. Naturally, we panicked expecting the worst and immediately began looking for a new veterinarian because we had bad experiences with the previous vet. Based on reviews we read and on their excellent website, we chose Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic and hoped for the best. I am pleased to report that we made a great choice in selecting Dr. Ward Randall and his very capable staff for our cat's medical care. We were able to schedule an appointment quickly and were greatly relieved after hearing Dr. Randall's evaluation of the problem which was not life-threatening but would require surgery. It is now seven weeks after his surgery and I am pleased to report that my cat appears to be walking almost perfectly again. In addition to the tumor which was removed, Dr. Randall took care of two other medical problems during the same surgery. He kept in contact with me both before and after surgery, following up while my cat was recuperating and was always available to provide answers to any questions I had. I have never been as impressed with another veterinarian as I am with Dr. Randall - his medical knowledge, years of experience, caring manner and friendly personality have impressed me tremendously. Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic offers full service care so I did not have to travel around taking my cat for X-rays, blood work, etc. The administrative staff - particularly Carolina, Antoinetta and Barbara - is top-notch. They are friendly and helpful people who truly care about their animal patients and their respective owners. I have written this review because I want everyone who may be looking for a competent veterinarian to consider Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic. We highly recommend Dr. Randall. read more

I hate this place with a passion of a thousand white hot suns. Seriously it is that bad. I took my dog there because he had passed out after running up some stairs. I was freaked out and took him here. Now let me say that my dog is a healthy one year old pup. He isn't a 16 year old dog with a lot of issues. If I wasn't such a neurotic dog owner I probably wouldn't have taken him anywhere. Well this vet saw visions of a vacation home in her dreams because she wanted to run every test that she could think ok. I walked out of there with a $650 bill and no answers. She called the next day and said his blood work was fine but she wanted me to bring him in again so she could run more tests. Sorry but today I am more rationale and you will no longer assault me financially. And in case you need more proof that this place is really low, when I paid my bill they handed me 4-6 cans of wet dog food in a plastic bag. I just thought they were giving me free samples. Later when I examined the bill I realized my "free" samples were actually $2.50 a can. To top it off it isn't even my dog's brand and they still sit in my cabinet to this day. And miraculously, even without those much needed tests that I didn't agree to, my dog is healthy and happy! Run, run, run far away from this place. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

Dr. Sulner Is a terrific vet!

This is a complain against Beth Sulner, DVM, who is a member of the Bound Brook Veterinary Clinic, 95 Union Ave, Middlesex, NJ 08846. I have used this clinic for over 30 years for both dogs and cats. I, personally, have a Ph.D. in Zoology. This Fall, I took my 10 year-old Jack Russell, Mickey, for his annual check-up to Dr. Sulner. Mickey's checkup was good except for his teeth. He was not overweight and was energetic; he was a healthy dog. As part of the checkup, she recognized that the dog had tarter on his teeth and probably had some badly decayed teeth. He had a history of tarter on his teeth. She strongly recommended that he have his teeth cleaned, saying that she had a modern anesthesia that would allow the procedure to be "very" safe on older pets. She gave no warning of any risks so long as his blood work came back good and we followed her instructions. She ordered a senior blood work, which was collected that day and scheduled surgery for later that week. Other than blood work, no other tests were recommended or ordered. Several days later, she called and reported that his blood work came back good. The night before surgery, we stopped food and water at 9 PM. On October 26, my husband dropped Mickey off for his teeth cleaning. He left his cell phone number for contact. At about 10:30 AM, Dr. Sulner called my husband midway through the procedure to say Mickey was doing well and she had completed the right side of his mouth. Three teeth had come out easily and she extracted two more. Within about an hour, she called my husband back to say Mickey had died during recovery. She tried to say that Mickey had bad health, but recanted when my husband reminded her that she had said he was healthy. She also said we would not be billed, an indication to us that she recognized she had errored. She said the Vet Tech had been with Mickey when he stopped breathing and had notified her right away. But Dr. Sulner had not been able to revive Mickey from cardiac arrest. I believe a Vet Tech is not qualified to monitor animals during early recovery. I also question whether adequate monitoring techniques were used. My husband called me, which prompted me to call Dr. Sulner. She told me the dog had been under anesthesia for 1 1/2 hours, a period of time in my estimation that is too long for a senior pet. She also said she had been with the dog when it stopped breathing, a conflict from the story she had told my husband. This leads me to believe that there was no plan to instantly identify and address a respiratory or cardiac crisis following surgery. I am issuing this complaint, because I do not want other dog owners to suffer an avoidable loss as we have. read more
