Let me preface this by saying that I have 17 animals, many exotics: 1 tegu, 2 bearded dragons, 1…read moreking snake, 1 jungle carpet python, 3 chinchillas, 4 ferrets, and 5 cats. I have also had animals my whole life and experienced many different veterinarians. My pets have been to The Center for Avian & Exotic Medicine (in NYC), the Animal Medical Center (in NYC), the Plainfield Animal Hospital, and also Fanwood Animal Hospital. I have experienced many different vets and I have to say that Dr. Stuart is the first one to really know what he's talking about. He understands the science behind everything that goes on in the bodies of animals. He's not someone who just went to Cornell or some other Ivy League vet school, has a fancy degree, and no experience or real knowledge to draw from. What's especially important to note about Dr. Stuart is that he specializes in small and exotic animals. Again, it's easy to say that you specialize in that but not have real training and life experience to guide you. However, he does and you would know that from one visit with him. I really appreciate that Dr. Stuart will spend as much time as necessary with you to help you understand what is going on with your animal(s) and he isn't worried about just pumping customers in and out. Overall, I started bringing one animal to him for the sake of convenience, and now all of my animals are being taken care of by him. If you want the best for your animals, bring then to him.

Like other patients of Dr. Stuart, I was overcharged and misled. After examined on Monday the Dr stated there was some type of infection but he couldn't tell me why or how it started. I was given antibiotics and a bill for $533! The fees on the bill included services I was not told were being performed and never once was I given any idea of how high the charges would be. The bill would have been easier to swallow if my gecko at least showed signs of improvement or at least even made it through the night. I included my list of charges so any future patients can have an idea of what to expect: Reptile Exam: $133 Record Processing: $21.50 SQ Liquid Therapy: $70.75 Baytril Injection: $64.25 Waste Disposal: $10.25 Meloxicam Injection: $57.25 Cytology: $40.00 Baytril Susp: $66.00 Meloxicam: $61.25 Tax: $8.91

Very honest on his opinions, and the price is great. He knows we have moved an hour away and give us gas discount every single time. We couldn't be happier for the love and care this place giving to our kids. THANK YOU!

Saw Dr. Weltner because Green Brook Animal Hospital was on the list of "free" wellness check-ups…read moreafter getting our dog through Shake A Paw...although the exam was "free," and our puppy was healthy, the vet recommended heartworm and Nexgard medication totaling almost $150...when asked if this would be covered by pet insurance, as we were planning on enrolling in a plan, the vet said "no." We found out a few weeks later that not only were these medications fully covered, that Dr. Weltner was listed on the Nationwide Pet insurance network! When we finally got coverage and called back later to get a refund on the money spent, they said that meds were non-refundable! We knew any "free" check-up was probably nothing special, and probably a way to get customers in the door, but didn't think we would be hard sold on anything, but they probably wanted to squeeze some $ out of us since they knew that most people whom take advantage of this "free" check-up don't come back, hence saying anything to push the deal through...the right thing to say is "I can't say what pet insurances cover or don't cover, and you should call them for specific coverage details,"...in which case we would have waited to purchase the medication a few weeks later after we signed up for pet insurance. We of course decided to take our dog to another more reputable veterinary practice, whom had a much more modernized computer system (Green Brook AH had hand-written paper receipts), and were familiar with insurance billing & submissions. Don't waste your time with the "free" wellness exam, pick a great vet through word of mouth, and start with them from the beginning!
