They have a lab next door as well as downstairs. They also offer free parking. Now I won't lie - depending on what time you go the wait time can be HORRENDOUS but I've seen enough crappy doctors that I wouldn't mind sitting through hell if I had to just to see Dr. Maslavi. I don't really have much to…read moresay about Dr. Maslavi as I have never actually been seen by him other than meeting him even though he was my primary care doctore; It's always been his assistant that has checked on me. I came in one day to get tested for oral herpes because although I didn't have enough evidence to say what it was, I still wanted to be safe and get it checked out. With my insurance, co-pay of $15 is required for every visit so I went through that and saw the assistant, I can't remember her name but she has blonde hair from what I remember. So she checks me out, is super rough with my lips and tells me it's herpes without any further testing. I ask for more testing a couple of times and she tells me it's not needed and recommends me products to purchase. I left feeling emotionally distraught because they didn't do any testing and although the co-pay was cheap, it felt unnecessary. I went back in and demanded for testing and after seeing how emotionally distraught I was, was when she let me get testing. Guess what? Testing came back negative and the bump was actually a mucocele. Not only that but I received another co-pay in the mail. Again I don't know much about Maslavi but his assistant was super unprofessional in this case and caused me to no longer have him as my PCP.

With lower qualifications whose office instruments are over 70 years old. Also declined ekg and coninued to hook me up to the machine without my permission. The machine did not work for more than 30 minutes because of poor Wi-Fi service. My shirt was off and the door was open I had to throw a sheet over me. Completely unprofessional unethical office. Fast forward 4 months Dr. Memon never removed the fees of 70 dollars he overcharged me Along with had empire city laboratories call me on my personal cell phone threatening me that if I do not remove the review I will have to deal with the overpayment. There is ALWAYS a wait at the office, even if you have an appointment, the wait is atleast 30min long. And he has the audacity to not even call his patients when they have an appointment with him to let them know that he will not be in the office. I took a day off from work to go to see him and he wasn't even there, bc he had some conference and he forgot to reschedule his patients. Not only that but his attitude towards his patients is uncaring, cold, and rude. I had high blood pressure and instead of treating it like a family doctor should, he kept trying to push me off to another doctor. And after prescribing me medicine for 3 months, he did not want to renew my medicine anymore, even after I called several times to let him know that my blood pressure medication was running out in 2 days and I could not take a day off from work to go see him. He still would not even renew the prescription for a few days till the weekend when I can go see him. I plan to sue him for malpractice bc not renewing my blood pressure medicine is risking my health and putting my life in danger. He has no bedside manners, no patience, worse than a McD service.

I believe his office manager is Leah, and she holds what can be a hectic office together. Some may not like the walk-in, sign in system, but I prefer that. It's hit or miss depending on traffic that day, and don't see it very differently from doctors who DO have an appointment system, then make you wait 2 hours anyway. Dr. Lee is extremely patient, and will listen to you talk FOREVER (as evidenced by the long drawn out conversations I hear from many of the elderly patients he cares for). Some may find that as a negative, but I see that as a caring health practitioner. Contrast that to many other offices where 5 assistants check your vitals, then the doc comes in, looks at your chart, and is out the door within 5 mins. Dr. Lee is my "family doctor" meaning, he's my go-to, when I'm not feeling well, If it's something outside his expertise, he'll suggest a specialist, and not necessarily one associated with him (I know some docs run a referral scam). He *does* like to prescribe meds, but respects your wishes. I like that he is able to perform some tests, like blood, and urine (it's sent out to a lab), as opposed to having to see him for a referral to a lab (2 co-pays). I'm here because I misplaced his number, and googled it. Decided to give him a well-deserved review. For those who are used to the "Chinese system" of doing things (often seemingly haphazard), you wont have any problems. His office hours have changed somewhat- he's off on Tuesdays, and Thursdays (I don't know if he practices elsewhere on those days). Another upside to his office is, He has hours on Saturdays as well. It felt like a mom and pop medical office because everyone knew everyone. The self check in was very easy. I only waited about twenty minutes or less to be seen. My past two visits to his office, I've left feeling extremely upset due to the tone/manner in which he spoke to me. Any attempt at asking him questions results in him developing an attitude and speaking in an extremely condescending, disrespectful, dismissive tone (with body language to match). He acts as though you just asked him to sacrifice his firstborn child. I have a lot of respect for doctors and always use a polite tone when speaking/asking questions, however Dr. Palkhiwala feels it is ok to speak to patients in a condescending, disrespectful, and dismissive manner. No matter how politely I speak to him, the conversation always ends in him speaking very disrespectfully to me, leaving me feeling quite upset. NYU Langone should really follow up with patients regarding their experiences with this doctor because he is quite out of line. Being a good doctor requires expertise AND good bedside manner. I'm going to be looking for a new cardiologist, as a result of my upsetting experiences with Dr. Palkhiwala.
