This is the second time I hired Northland Fence, this time for a 6 ft privacy vinyl fence. The…read morecompany offered an incredible special for early birds, which allowed us to make a huge fence. The project cost $15,000. The fence runs around our 3/4 acre, encompassing much of the property. PLAN Maria created a beautiful plan based on information provided online for our property (as well as on her private portal). This enabled us to get the project off the ground before I even purchased the house. We scheduled the first install date one day after my house closing. THE INSTALL The installation is done in three stages. I hired a surveyor to mark the property lines. Northland fence ordered the public utilities to be marked out, and I chose to hire Zone One to mark my irrigation and septic (which turned out to be very useful). Next, a full day was spent installing the posts (the day after I purchased the house). Aaron was the leader of a crew of two, and he and I reviewed the placement of the posts in relation to the original plan. We tweaked the plan, and Aaron was helpful, respectful and very patient as I revised things on the ground during the day. Thank you for that! We were able to respect our neighbor's privacy and increase the gate size to accommodate my UTV for snow-ploughing in winter. FINAL INSTALL The final installation was scheduled for 30 days after the post install, but Northland Fence were able to accommodate us early and install a week after. That was an incredible surprise, and our dogs were delighted! A crew of three arrived: Jesse, Chuck and Bobby, and the guys worked from around 9:00am to 5:00pm to install our huge fence. They began without disturbing me, as I was working. When I came out, they updated me that the fence will be completed in a day. They were quiet and respectful of the neighbors, parking on the side of the property. They did a walk around the fence several times during install to ensure that everything was done right, with a final walk-through the next morning when they came to finish off one small part. This gave me time to do a walk-through also. I didn't find anything wrong. The fence was perfect. DESIGN I'll add that I chose a two tone design, at no extra cost. It turned out gorgeous! WARRANTY 10 year warranty from Northland Fence, and they recommend that we contact them with any questions or problems before we check with our home owner's insurance, should any problem arise. RECOMMENDED.

Just be sure to read and understand the contract before signing. We didn't, and that's on us. The contract stated 2 to 4 week completion for our fence. In our case, Northland came out on Dec 10th and removed our old fencing, set some of the new posts, then left by noon. They returned on Dec 26th to finish the remaining posts. They returned on Jan 6th and installed the fence. All of the crews were polite and respectful. Our project was completed 3 weeks and 6 days after they began. Our problem was that our dog couldn't use the yard and the deer - the reason that we needed the fence - invaded and ate our new $$$ landscaping. There's a reason that a competitor advertises that they use the same crew for the entire process, and get it done in a day or two. If we could go back, we'd have made a different choice.

Never instructed us that even in rural Wisconsin we would need a permit. 2. They have no concept of scheduling, asked us to call back two days before we actually wanted the fence in, which was about a month out, to remind them to see when they could fit us in. 3. They still have not cashed our check from work seven weeks ago. Phone call and email was sent and received three weeks and six weeks from work, their reply; "we've been too busy to get to a bank," very unprofessional.

Since he left we never heard back from the company, we called multiple times, no one answered, we finally had to call Mr. Van Buren who contacted the company's secretary who finally gave us a call back and placed us on the book. One day before they were scheduled to install the fence they called and told us that the job will be deferred till the afternoon instead of the morning and will take two days. We were fine with that although I and my husband had already made arrangement with our work for this appointment. We rearranged our schedule accordingly only to receive a call on the day of service that they have to reschedule because they were backed up due to weather. As I was explaining to the rude person on the phone (Charlie) that we will again have to rearrange our work schedule to accommodate yet another change in their schedule, Charlie said: OK I will give you your deposit back in condescendent way like "take it or leave it, we do not need your business". We were more than patient with this company not returning our phone calls, accepting their assessment even though it was higher than others' we got, rescheduling, explanting our plant because we were told that was where the post will be installed, getting the city to mark gas, water, etc.... we did all what we were supposed to do, for them say if you don't reschedule we don't need your business.
