A very clean and tidy place with great (real graded)routes, the staff are awesome there all great climbers so if you need advice /pointers/help with a climb or whatever they are always more than willing to ablige. The staff were brilliant - excellent team leaders and confidence builders. I just wish I could've had a go - but my daughter said I'd embarrass her too much! As my son is a little young for the actual climbing we let them loose in the soft play area. On first impressions, I really like this venue. It seems to have something for everyone. There are lots of climbing walls/activities that appeal to all ages up to adulthood. The pre-schoolers can get their fill in the soft play maze, which is a great size as it is not so big that your child can get lost. Unlike, many of these type of attractions the café sold half decent food. The coffee was easily drinkable and they offer a varied menu including paninis, pizza, kids meals, pasta, cakes, fruit and more. To drink they have the usual hot drinks, including Mocha, plus cold favourites including milkshakes and fresh fruit smoothies (blended on site upon ordering). My only complaint was that all of the staff were very young and clearly inexperienced. While there I made a number of very basic requests which were met with blank gazes, or else took at least three members of staff to answer. There was also quite a long wait for the simplest of items from the menu.

There is a small bar with plenty of seating and serves a good range of both food and drink, you then walk on upstairs to where the main climbing centre is. The staff are friendly and professional and certainly focus on the safety aspect of the sport, there is a huge area for climbing and abseiling and also the boulder room where you can just free climb with deep cushions to land on should you slip. The party itself was well run and the instructors kept the kids entertained in between taking turns in climbing. The food was normal kids party food but was tasty and soon demolished. I would certainly keep this place in mind not just for a kids party but for a new activity to take up myself - all in all a very enjoyable visit.

They have walls from 18 feet to 44 feet high with different angles and surfaces so you can choose how far to push yourself, whether it be on a smooth slab or a fearless overhang. I was taught by a fully qualified instructor and all the safety helmet and harness were included in the price. The only problem I had was that my harness was attached a little too tightly in between my legs, this made it quite a painful experience. No matter how I Adjusted my gear the problem still pervaded. I would recommend the tester course here. Climbing is a fun and physical activity, I felt the calories burn the further up the wall I climbed. I'd much rather do this than go to a gym.

Creation has been in action since the days of Epic Skatepark and utilises the high ceilings of this former Bus depot. Walls on offer range from a free climbing area where you can climb without ropes or harnesses to the big stuff which entails ropes and a harness. I had a blast at Creation and found the staff to very helpful and keen to see new climbers join the more experienced regulars on the walls. There is a range of snacks, food and drinks available and you can even take a peek at the skatepark area if you fancy a fresh challenge!

Yes, the Vue cinema is fine and has loads of screens - so whilst it gets busy you can normally see whichever film you want without feeling rammed into the last seats. The restaurants are all chains - and very bland ones at that. There used to be a fairly decent Mexican, but even that has now gone and been replaced by a KFC/Nandos/McDs/delete as appropriate. There's a casino, but I have no interest in that, and there's a bowling alley / amusement arcade which is always rammed with tweens. When it was first built, there was a climbing centre spanning the interior dome of the atrium, and they installed a dry ice slope to sledge down alongside the escalators.. there was also shops to keep people entertained, but slowly and surely these have all closed down. Now it's just a large vacuous space with chain restaurants, a chain cinema, and a gaudy casino skirting the edges. I go to Star City on the very rare occurrence they're showing a film I want to see that isn't on elsewhere, or if I manage to score free tickets via showfilmfirst or a similar offer. Otherwise, there's nothing for me in the entire 'entertainment' establishment.

We took the kids here (seven, five and two) and spent an hour tobogganing on a dreary Saturday afternoon, and it was awesome and incredibly good value for money too - about fifteen quid, all in. Make sure you take gloves, trainers/boots, or whatever else you need to do your task. Check on the website to see what's going on, and make sure you phone and speak to the lovely people there before turning up, just in case there's a group and you need to book a place. Try the climbing wall! That's next on my list...

All the instructors at Ackers have to be really highly qualified to get the job, and you get some…read morereal quality tuition , pariticularly in the skiing which i recommend. Especially if you're a new skiier, and are perhaps going on a skiing holiday, i sugest you have a few lessons on the dry slope at Ackers first, just to get a grasp of it all. The 100m slope is available as well just to practice on, on certain days, so you can pay for an hour or so and use it unlimited amounts of times. However, be prepared for the difference in terms of skiing on real snow! The falls can hurt more! Also, I'd advise not to wear loose clothing, because it can get stuck in the webbing of the slopes. Although, in terms of value this slope is great. It's cheaper than the snowdome and a good laugh! Otherwise it costs about £5 to climb (no time limit). A great place to meet climbers and also, a bunch of trips are planned by the people on this wall to Wales, Scotland, Pennines etc. So if you are looking to go on a climbing trip, it's worth rocking down here and meeting some people.

The new bouldering is now top class no more waiting to do the grey wall (although I now miss it) there is now great climbing everywhere. It now cost £7 to get in which is a bit steep but there is a 12 entry pass which is good value. also great job on the paint job it now looks cool.
