I did enjoy the gluhvein, as well. It wasn't particularly cold, but this is a nice winter warmer. For nine bucks you get a glass mug filled with that beautiful mulled wine, and if you bring your mug back, you get a refill for four bucks. It got more crowded as the day went on, so I would recommend going early. The museum is part of your admission into the Christmas Market, and it is definitely worth a visit. Small, but interesting. I enjoyed the log cabin as well. We didn't buy anything from any of the vendors, but there was a decent variety of wares. Parking is tough, even earlier in the day, so be prepared to walk a bit.

I saw ceramic Christmas tree painting events advertised on Facebook and decided to give it a go…read more The prices were a bit high for what I was expecting, but I splurged since making my own ceramic tree has been something I've wanted to do for a long time. Price points started at $65 for a small tree and up to $150 for a large one. My mom and I each got medium sized trees, which I think are about 12 inches tall. Painting other stuff there might be cheaper, but I'm not sure. The staff people on the day of the event were super nice and helpful. The directions were pretty straight forward: Paint three layers of your desired color on the tree and base and then it would take 2 to 3 weeks to fire and finish off. There were lots of paint colors with three or four kinds of finishes to choose from. They give you some recommendations and guidance if you ask. I ended up going with a blue ombre one. When they texted me the day it was ready to pick up, I drove back out that day to get it because I was so excited. It turned out beautiful! The light kit that came with it wasn't great. The lights were too small for the holes, so I bought replacement ones online and it's perfect. I would definitely recommend this place and do it again, but probably for special occasions since it can get pricey.

Tours are by appointment, and can be arranged via the Zelienople Historical Society. There are two museums within walking distance of each other, the Passavant House, and the Buhl House. Each house tour runs for approx. 45 minutes, and is led by a volunteer docent from the society. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person for the tour (which includes both houses). There is so much to see inside these two houses, and the docents were very interesting and knowledgeable. Also, there are gardens behind each house, and these can be viewed at any time since they are outdoors, and there is no charge just to view the gardens (The gardens at Passavant House are very nice, and include lots of heirloom vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees which are all labeled. Also there is a beautiful pavilion where you can sit and relax). The garden at Buhl house has flowers and a fountain, plus a spring that is running through a tunnel underneath the house. If you are in the area, do check out these magnificent homes that are now museums. Also, there are places to eat and shop within walking distance. We ate lunch at the Historic Kaufman Tavern after our tour . . . Cheers!
