Can I live here? Can I move in? Because this is heaven on earth. Hugeee liquor store. Drove over an hour away because they were the only store to carry one specific wine from a small winery in New York and I needed it as a gift. The customer service associate was super helpful and even put the bottles on hold for me. Love the cheese refrigerator area. Tons of snacks to go with your wines too. Very reasonably priced for everything and some incredible sales. Very helpful store associates. Plenty around. Ended up buying quite a few things and they even offered me a box to help carry it all out. read more

Bottle King Came in on a whim as I don't typically drink, but was with my nephew (who is a youthful biracial 21 year-old who I often live vicariously ). It was a warm Sunday night in July and figured we'd check the place out to see if there were any sales or something new, fun, or interesting- I hadn't been to a Bottle King since long before the pandemic, but knew they often carried some unique beverages as well as different novelties to promote various brands. Personally, I was also a little surprised to see a liquor store open on a Sunday since I'm from Bergen County and the blue law restricts the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Long story short, it was approaching closing time so, by the time we perused the store and made our way to the register, only one was lane was left open. The cashier was very sweet, but was surrounded by several other employees giving her a hand to make things move quicker. I got the impression she was fairly new because she seemed a bit shy and overwhelmed,- though I'd. probably feel the same way if my coworkers and boss were looking over my shoulder while I was doing my job- in reality no one was really doing anything in terms of helping since there was really not much to do at this point - the manager was conveniently flirting with some of the female associates by cracking corny jokes trying to make small talk. As we approach the register, this sweet young lady greeted us with a smile and grabbed for our item to scan. After picking it up, she paused for a minute, look puzzled, then kindly asked for my ID. My nephew was preoccupied doing God knows what & I was at the credit card machine all set to pay. I was trying to make it quick since I knew they were waiting on us to finish so they could go home. As I was getting ready to swipe my card, I heard her ask me for my ID. Although I was flatter, it caught me a little off guard so I unintentionally froze for a sec and did a double take. At first I thought she was joking thinking she was joking, but when I realize she wasn't, I scrambled to try to find it. Nevertheless, I handed it over while making a joke about being flattered- and I'm 43 so I usually don't get carded. After she gave it back to me, I proceeded to pay, but was intercepted by this cocky manager who proceeded to ask my nephew for his ID as well. He wasn't even near me, so it seemed a bit odd. Regardless, it wasn't an issue, he was 21...scatterbrained... but certainly of age . As he reached into his pocket, he realized he didn't have his wallet or anything on him since this was not a planned visit. Furthermore, he tends to lose things and lost about three drivers license because he refuses to carry a wallet and shoves them in his pockes which drives me crazy.?We both proceeded to explain ourselves stating I was 43 years old and he was in fact, 21, I personally did not care whether I purchased the item or not since I was only getting it because I thought it was a good price. However, once he found out my nephew did not have an ID on him, he gleefully, stood there all broad-chested lecturing me on store policy stating all parties are require to have an ID on their person as per store policy. Seeing all the young female cashiers were watching, he stood there, looking all authoritative as if he was Paul Blart mall cop and just busted the crime of a century. When I said that was fine and walked out of the store, he seemed to cop an attitude, I assume he was expecting an argument that would have made him look all the more important in front of his spectators. It was a little insulting and condescending, and really lacked professionalism even if that was the store's policy, this situation was not handled appropriately. I haven't been spoken down to like that by a manager at a liquor store for quitesome time. The last time was probably when actually was under age legitimately trying to wreak havoc. I wholeheartedly feel he would have never asked for my nephew's ID had he looked as Caucasian as me- but that is merely just my opinion. For the record, this incident occurred in the summer of 2024. Not sure why this app kept this as a draft and never posted it. I was contemplating on deleting it since it is done and over with, but figured I may as well post it in case anyone else has had a similar experience. read more

Crappy customer service. I ordered a case of wine from their website and they sent me a cheaper vintage than the one I ordered. I said I would keep it but just needed a price adjustment for the product they actually sent me. They refused and said my only option was to return it. They'd rather pay return shipping than offer a $24 partial refund on an entire case of wine? They're obviously just on a power trip. My credit card company was happy to do a chargeback for the difference. Won't shop here again. read more

In Summer of 2023 I purchased 2 cases of 2020 El Enemigo Semillon for $19.99 per bottle. I have temp controlled cellar with about 1500 bottles of wine. In January 2025 I opened bottle which was totally corked & undrinkable. When I called young lady she said no refund or store credit. I asked to speak to new owner but she instead passed message on. He to refused to issue any type of refund. Won't get another dime of my business going forward ! BYE BYE !! read more

This is a pretty good version of a chain liquor store. Well stocked with popular brands of beers, wines, and spirits. Also a very nice selection of cheeses, condiments and cocktail necessities. The one area where they falk short is stocking popular jug wines (clearly not a big moneymaker in niche marketing). So we go there for spirits then have to go elsewhere, for the jug wines we like. That may be a factor in choosing Bottle King in the future. read more

We were browsing the store when we noticed an odd color on some of the grocery items in the food section. When we got closer, and inspected the items, we were able to confirm that there was an abundance of mold on the salmon pinwheels. Stay safe out there kids (21+, of course). Good selection of vodka to hopefully kill off the poison you would've Ingested. read more

I am horrified at the actions of what is supposed to be their customer service team also known as cashiers. Three male employees one of them could have been a woman I'm not really sure she looks like a man from where I stood . They harassed me today because I went in wearing a sweater too skinny and a mask . I'll admit I did say something about how the prices were outrageous there and all these employees did was basically laugh me out of the store and I would have left no problem had they not continue to antagonize me as I'm trying to get my in my car and leave! They had three of their employees all males one of them with one long hair popping their heads out antagonizing me and Ill person who needs to warm up in the AC because they're underweight and where is the mask to prevent any disease as my immune system is low and I don't feel to comment further on my health thank you very much ! All I know is what I got today was not customer service I was taunted out the door by 3:00 male employees again one of them having long hair so it could have been a woman . Popping their heads out and laughing and teasing and pointing fingers at me all because I chose not to buy anything in this highly over Price Place . I did not take this out on the employees so why did they take this out on me ? My husband and I came in on Dec. 23rd and the place was packed! We decided to divide and conquer, and it worked out well. The staff members, specifically a manager, were so helpful and helped me find a wine which I have struggled to fine in NC. The manager knew exactly where it was and brought me there. Then I asked about some PA microbrews and the manager offered to have them ordered for me because they don't stock that beer - amazing service! The lines of 30+ people moved quickly and staff were friendly and helpful despite the holiday rush. read more

I think I like this store better than the one in Glen Ridge, which is my usual go-to Bottle King, but the location itself blows. It sits between 23 and 202, which is an accident waiting to happen. Overall, though, the inside of the store is very-well organized, but the employees at the check out couldn't have been more annoying and unprofessional by sharing their stories of mutual disdain for their no-show colleague while scanning my bottles. read more

I ordered from bottle King close to my friend. They were excellent with advice with free delivery over $50. There was a problem with delivery which was resolved. My only issue was that they were supposed to call me if they couldn't deliver at first and they didn't. It all turned out well in the end and my friend loved his present! read more

For me, this is the best liquor (wine) store around. I mostly come here for beer and wine of which they have a large selection of both. What I particularly like is that most of the wines are given a rating (Robert Parker, Wine Spectator, etc) which makes it easy to find some really good wines at reasonable costs. You can spend $10 - $20 for a 92 point wine, or you can spend $100+. It all depends on what you can afford. (Not sure why someone would want to spend more money when they don't have to, but that's just me.) The wine shop is also a nice plus... but the Brooklyn breads they have there on Thursday to Sunday are the absolute BEST. (Shhhhhhh!) read more

Another praise worthy cathedral of consumerism, this particular Bottle King big box liquor outlet provides a most satisfactory shopping experience. Wine selection is very good, with a number of offbeat and hard to find selections. Beer selection is also broadband. Spirits too. And prices are more reasonable than most. Although it is a no frills operation, the staff are knowledgable and friendly. There is a frequent customer loyalty discount card, and you can sign uo to receive discount coupons via e-mail. There is also a cheese and gourmet food shop onsite, and gift ideas abound. If all else fails there are gift cards..... The only thing that keeps this from 5 stars is that the parking lot is too small and gets dangerously crowded. Drive carefully! read more

I place an order for pick up on 1/19/22 at the Bottle King in Wayne, NJ (route 23). 6 bottles of wine when the store had 10 bottles left. I arranged the pick of for 1/24/22 as I was in the area. Instead of pulling these off the shelf and fulfilling an order, they left them there and had the audacity to call me 2 hours after the fulfilment time scheduled that they only have 3 left. This girl actually said would you like the 3 or should I cancel the order as if it was nothing to them. Very lousy service. Do not use them go to Ramsey instead they are a lot more efficient and fulfill the orders. read more

I prefer the Bottle King in Ramsey to this one as the staff is a bit more friendly and they constantly put out things to try before you buy like snacks and some liquor/wine tastes. Went by today for Newcastle Cabbie. They have a decent selection and their prices are better than Gary's. you definitely need to have the Bottle King card to get all discounts which is a bit nuts but once you have the card, it is worth it for the deals. A must go to liquor store. read more

This place is the largest Bottle King I've set foot in. My go to Ramsey store is big, but this one seems a lot bigger. Their wine and liquor section is huge, but I'm more of a beer person and their refrigerated section is just gigantic. There are a lot more selection of cold beer and they had a ton of seasonal stuff. I didn't interact with anyone on staff there but they didn't seem like the usually grumpy staff one runs into. read more

I liked Bottle King until I accidentally bought a bottle of alcohol removed wine from their website while placing an order for curbside pickup. The alcohol removed wines are not in their own category on the website, instead, they are mixed in with all of the alcoholic wines. It was not clearly labeled as alcohol removed unless you read through the entire essay description of the wine. Since I was shopping on a liquor stores' website, the thought of buying non alcoholic wine did not even cross my mind. I am all for having alcohol free options, but they should be in their own category entirely and completely separate from the wines with alcohol. I contacted Bottle King and was told that I could not return the wine therefore, I will not be returning to Bottle King. read more

This place has an excellent selection of Sancerre. It is a French white wine which many places don't even carry...and it is at all price ranges. The staff is knowledgeable and you never feel like you are getting ripped off with the prices. I am not sure that I would use them for your finer wines $100+, but the selection is pretty extensive otherwise. read more

While their prices are usually better than other places, yesterday I placed two online orders for about $350 total for delivery. This was the first time I ordered online and my first delivery order as well. While I received a confirmation it didn't say anything about delivery. I am local so I expected it would have been delivered by the end of the next day since they deliver on their own trucks. When I called the today to find out when it would be delivered I was put on hold and forgotten until the call rang back in the store. I was then put on hold again only to be forgotten and ring back again. She then answered the phone very hurriedly as if I was a new call and I said, listen, I've been holding a while & I'm just trying to find out when my order is going to be delivered. She said, sorry I'm supposed to help you but I'm busy training someone. She said when are you available and I said I am here all day. She finally said it'll be there between 3-5pm today.
