Reid’s Home Repair - Framing a new wall

    Reid’s Home Repair

We're so grateful we found Reid's Home Repair for our big basement refinish project - great work…read moreand great humans! Our home was built in 1913 and gut rehabbed in 2024. However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. I'd recommend Reid's Home Repair to anyone!

We worked with Ryan as our project manager and Holly as our designer on our powder room and kids' bathroom renovation. From start to finish, they were incredibly accommodating, patient, and attentive to every detail. What stood out most was how quickly and thoughtfully any issues were handled. All the issues that came up (not many) were handled immediately and in a way that felt thoughtful and aligned with our expectations, which made the entire process stress-free. The communication throughout the project was clear and consistent, timelines were respected, and the quality of the work has held up beautifully. Holly did a wonderful job bringing the design together, and Ryan ensured everything ran smoothly every step of the way. This is honestly the first time I've worked with a contractor/company where I've felt this positive about the entire experience, even months later. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again and highly recommend them to anyone considering a renovation.

We have a general contractor we work with who did our demolition, installed the floor and ran the utilities. Chateau did the design, cabinets, backsplash, wall tile, countertops, helped with appliances, and lighting. First off - wow, it's been over a year later and we all still love our kitchen. Check out our before and afters! We did shop around with other companies to find who we wanted to work with for this remodel. When we met Holly and saw the cabinet options Chateau had to offer, it was a certain decision. Holly Blevins is an amazing designer who is fun to work with. The kitchen was my wife's project. She and Holly worked so well together syncing up on design ideas. Holly kept our decisions in-budget and on-time. She is simply amazing! When it came to our general contractor working with the construction crew at Chateau, our GC said they were very good to work with. From my perspective, they worked as a united team. It was easy to work with Chateau. They sell excellent products with many choices to fit any person's taste. They came to our house in the beginning, took measurements, talked to us about the process. We agreed upon the cost. Got things ordered and started the project. There was great communication throughout the project. We always felt that Chateau had our back and that our project was important to them. They cared that we would get the kitchen we wanted and that it was designed in a way that we would continue to enjoy it. There is an extra service you can elect to pay for related to design. We did pay for this. It allows the designer to keep helping throughout the project. Some people may not want this and if that is you, you can elect not to have it. My suggestion is to get it. Once the project started and we needed to make decisions, Holly was with us every step of the way helping with the decisions when we needed her. The service was highly valuable. More than once my wife and I said that we were so glad we had the extra design service. After a year, the kitchen is still great. We are happy and highly recommend Chateau Kitchens & Home Remodeling!

Simpson Construction Services - Simpson Construction identified this shoddy cross bracing repair installed by the builder

I thought I needed a support beam installed in the basement to provide additional support for the floor joists. So, I contacted Gary Simpson from Simpson Construction to see if he could install a floor support system. Gary came out and immediately noticed that installing a support beam wouldn't solve my problem. Apparently, the builder had moved a few of the floor joists after the subfloor was put down to make room for the toilet drain in the bathroom. This adjustment created the squeaking noise. The builder tried to fix the problem by installing several wooden cross braces to reinforce the now unsupported seams of the subfloor. You can see the cross beams the builder installed in the attached picture. Sadly, the builders shoddy workmanship did not fix the problem. Now I need to fight with the builder to resolve my problem. I sincerely appreciate Gary's expertise and honesty in exposing this situation. I give Simpson Construction a ten star review and highly recommend them to anyone. I will definitely hire Simpson Construction in the future to help with other projects. Gary is a great guy with an outstanding professional standard. We need more people like Gary in this country.

Scott worked with our insurance to submit for reimbursement through our insurance and to document repairs. We originally were scheudled for a Wednesday install and no one showed. We were then told Thursday and again, no crew came to complete the roof. TJR was contacted and apologized again and promised 48hrs notice prior to work taking place. The very next day the an entire crew of roofers showed up unannounced at 5pm on a Friday. This was obviously frustrating, but we tried to be flexible to get the roof completed. Months later, we still had uncompleted work replacing roof gutters and fascia. They sent a roofer out and replaced the neighbors fascia instead. Months later, we found roofing nails that were not removed and noticed additional nails in the wood trim installed by TJR that impailed my tire requiring the tire to be completly replaced. We notified TJR and they acknowleged the nails were installed by their crew and would send someone out to remove them within the next 3 weeks... The president of the company Tim Gilliam responded in an incredibly unprofessional manner refusing to pay for any damages they caused. He accused me of intentionally running over nails, stating "Why would you choose to drive over nails you saw in the driveway? Who does that?" It was very unprofessional seeing the President of a company with such disregard for issues they caused. I have many years in general contracting in construction and would never work with a company like this professionally or personally. Save your money and be prepared to pick up after the roofing crew.

Tim admitted on 6/4/22 via text message (screenshot attached) that he came to our property without consent and removed the 2 remaining nails. If he would have knocked on our door, he would have known that we were out of town and could not provide verbal or written consent for him to perform work on our property-TRESSPASSING. However, at Tim Gilliam's own admission, his team did leave 3 nails to hang protection tarps, but when he recently came to clean them up (without consent), only 2 were left, solidifying that one in fact, fell into the driveway. The one that caused damage to our tire requiring it to be replaced.
