My husband and I dined on the patio seating in front of Bossanova last night, which is situated so we could see the back side of the performances going on in Plaza de San Fernando on a stage for Cervantino. We went to Bossanova upon the recommendation of a local friend and ordered the Ratatouille upon her recommendation, of which the tomato-based sauce covered the cooked, tender vegetables nicely. It felt very healthy to be eating. We also tried the chicken crepe, which was a house specialty listed on the menu; I thought it tasted fairly bland, but enjoyed it more as I continue eating it. The sauce was cream-based, the crepe had a fresh texture, and the chicken pieces were coated in some kind of chili dry rub, which had a fairly mild flavor (my husband liked this dish but thought it could have used more spice). We sat for at least a couple of hours hanging out, drinking cafe con leche (which I've ordered elsewhere and it was a latte, but literally here it is coffee with milk), a cappuccino (me), beer (my husband), and Mescal (my husband, and he thought it wasn't very good). There were multiple people who stopped by to perform or try to sell something for pesos to the outdoor diners during the time we sat there, which seems to be normal on the streets in this area. Our friend mentioned there is usually live music here at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the evenings. The service was on the slower side compared to several other restaurants we've dined at in the area (there was even a time where we couldn't find our server inside or outside). Overall, we're glad we tried this place and had a nice experience out on the patio. read more
