Jerk took my money and did not do the work. Now he is ghosting me. Do not do business with this dishonest company.

Langley Family General Contracting Construction Design

I hired Langley Family General Contracting Construction Design LLC in July 2025 for a walk-in…read moreshower remodel. The contract price was $7,119.85 and I paid a 50% deposit of $3,560.00. The contract estimated the project would be completed in approximately 5 days. Work began on August 13. On August 25, Mr. Langley informed me that he had failed to measure the floor drain when preparing the estimate and contract. Because of this mistake, he said he could not install the cast iron shower pan that we had specifically requested and that was part of the original design unless I wanted to pay thousands more to hire a plumber to relocate the drain. He put the burden on me instead of making it right. I couldn't afford to pay thousands more, so he changed the design to a tiled shower base. I requested a written amendment to the contract reflecting this change more than once, but none was ever provided. The project ultimately dragged on for roughly four months with repeated problems and long periods of little communication. At the beginning, he promised he would be present during the project and oversee the work to ensure quality. He came to my property a total of 3-4 times over the course of 4 months. However, four different individuals were sent to work on the project and all fired by him after poor workmanship. Each time I raised a concern about poor workmanship, he became upset and would often try to belittle me. His responses to me were mostly emotional and harsh. At one point early on, he threatened to terminate the contract because he said I was someone who would not be happy with anything. There were multiple workmanship problems, including incorrectly installed tile and an improperly sloped shower floor. Tiles were damaged during grout installation and had to be replaced. Work would frequently stop with no clear schedule for when laborers would return. He accused me of taking too many vacations and not being available for his workers. Out of 90 days his crew had available to work, I was gone a total of 13, less than 15%. Most of those days were preplanned and would not have been an issue had he finished within the 5 days he estimated. Because of the ongoing issues, I contacted the wall and flloor panel manufacturer, Johns Manville, and provided photos of the installation. Their written response stated that the shower drain had not been installed correctly and that the shower base would need to be removed and rebuilt. They also stated the wall panels would need to be replaced because holes larger than 1/2 inch had been created during tile removal. After approximately four months of delays and defective work, I terminated the contract in writing and requested a refund of my deposit. The contractor responded a month later simply asking me not to contact him anymore. Several boxes of unused tile and an unopened shower door were left at my home. I attempted to resolve the matter in small claims court. During the hearing, the contractor brought an attorney and presented statements about the project that, in my opinion, significantly misrepresented what actually occurred during the project. Those circumstances led to the dismissal of my case. I have documentation, photographs, and written communications supporting the timeline and events described above. These documents include project photos, text and email communications with the contractor, and the manufacturer's written assessment of the installation. What was supposed to be a 5-day remodel turned into a four-month project that ended with an incomplete shower that has to be demolished and a dispute over the deposit. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this contractor.

Beware and do not use this contractor. He is dishonest and not trustworthy. I had him come and do…read morean estimate on my laundry room that had water damage from AC leak. I needed one wall and one ceiling sheet rocked and textured with insulation. Also had a small section in my garage that needed sheet rocked also. I had two contractors give me an estimate and Langleys was a little less. He said he would call me to set up a time to start the job. He never called after about a week so I called him. He said he had been busy and his son was sick. I told him I was going to be out of town the week of September 15th so we decided that he would start the job on September 22nd. Nobody showed up so I called him, texted him and emailed him. No response and I kept calling and leaving messages. I finally called the other contractor but he was booked so I had him trying to find me another contractor. Then out of the blue one of his workers called me and set up a day to come look at it. We went over the estimate and I signed the contract and wrote a check for 50%. The worker called Mr. Langley and came back and said he was instructed not to take the check but he would be back on Wednesday and have the job finished by Thursday. Today I waited and nobody showed up. I texted his worker and he said he was told not to hold off on the job and he would contact me Monday. I texted him to try to find out what was going on. I called Mr. Langley and he said he could not do the job for less than $1500 a day. I asked him if I added back for him to also paint it then could he do the job. At this time he became hostile and I began arguing with him. He said he was denying everything because I was committing insurance fraud. What the heck? He hung up on me. If he did not want to do the job I wish he would have just said so from the beginning so I could get another contractor. Beware of Mr. Langley.
