Definitely Boscobel is a Majestic place to visit as a Touristic area or monumental place . Today was Mother day Brunch . Very disappointed , bad Menu choice Cheff. Not a place to go eat on a special date.

Mother's Day Brunch $70 Adults $50 kids and was not q station for omelets ??? Was not hot cocoa for kids , was not bread or croissants , was not orange juice .... Only strawberries with chocolate very poor presentation. , Was nothing for kids oh sorry brownie for breakfast. No wafles no pancakes . Was very poor ,of what we expected . No cheese no bread not ham not sure what happened or what was going on .we just had tea and a couple of sandwiches with goat cheese and cucumber , ones with prosciutto that were like gum, not able to get q bite on those with soft bread 11:00 am eating prosciutto ,tuna or chicken sandwiches on soft brad . Very disappointed. Not the Brunch we imagine for q such q beautiful place .

Where they kept their liquor. It had wheels and plenty of room for ice.

Boscobel was such a pleasant visit. From the scenic drive up the Hudson Valley, to entering the huge site, everything was so charming. From the moment you check in, to the vast knowledge of the your guide, it all was magnificent and awe inspiring. Our guide, Kathy, was such a delight. She conducted the tour at a comfortable pace, allowed plenty of time to take pictures/videos, and gave us a memorable history lesson that I'll cherish. The Boscobel home is a site to behold. The scenery is majestic and you will have the opportunity to take either a 1 or 3 mile loop around the property, after the tour. You will see, and learn about, items that are 200+ years old and how they lived back in the late 1700's. The pictures that you'll view will not do any justice to what you'll encounter, from start to finish. I highly recommend visiting Boscobel. You will be throughly satisfied with all that you will learn, see, and experience.

Overall an historic and interesting piece of Hudson Valley history. Home was built in the very early 1800s. It's an interesting showcase of 18th century life meeting 19th century technology. No indoor plumbing but some very advanced oil lamps. Many fireplaces but no central heating. This is an upscale house for the time built just before technology really emerged to moderize homes. Some nice furniture by Duncan Phyfe is featured including an unrestored original cabinet. Nice story about the hard work in restoring the mansion. Overall tour: average but in the summer heat the outside portion of the tour is uncomfortable and miserable. Time budget: 1 hour for the tour and 15 minutes to look around after the tour Misc.: Restrooms are available

Great tour and views of the Hudson Valley. We got free tickets through our library and suggest going early on the weekends because there was a wedding coming in right after we were done with the tour.

Some mixed feelings about Boscobel... I've known of the gardens for a while and have been meaning to visit based on the great reviews and their website. I was a bit disappointed when I finally made the trip though. There are very limited things to do/see. Right now, the house is closed. There is a small herb garden and a central garden too. There is a lovely sweeping view of Hudson with the Marsh below..making for some gret photo ops on clear days... But...that's about it... There are some hiking trails which I ventured into but nothing more than the usual trail....trees...dirt...rocks. No signs, or exhibits, or facts along the way. I think, for what they offer, the current $12 is a bit much. $6-8 would be more appropriate. I will have to return when the house re-opens, that may make the visit worthwhile. Also, there are some events there from time to time...such as "Applefest" which may also be worth the visit... The few staff members I encountered were friendly and helpful. There was one person checking names as you enter into the parking lot (ample parking spaces) and another person at the visitor's check-in building to check you in, give you an admission sticker and answer any questions you have.

The view here is absolutely breathtaking. We love their small herb garden. This place is very well maintained. There are some walking trails. Great place to have family gathering.

Without a doubt the best view of the Hudson river I have seen is at the belvedere here! The Boscobel Estate is a beautiful place to visit and the house itself has wonderful furniture. If you take a 12-15 dollar tour of the house, which is the only way to get inside it, you be part of a 4-5 person small group and will go over the belvedere, the garden house, and the house itself. Since I love history and appreciate art this tour was really entertaining to me. The inside of the house also makes the tour worth. Everything inside is historically accurate and it shows you how residents utilized rooms and furniture. I didn't realize so much of the furniture of this time period could be moved around so much or combined. When touring the house I found our director to be kind and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of groups questions and showed off a lot of energy and excitement for the things he was discussing. He said he was his education was in furniture so that probably explains all of that. The grounds of the estate are also picturesque (and free.) You can see why the hudson river school was inspired to make paintings from locations such as this... speaking of they even have wicked busts of hrs painters near the front of the house here. I would highly recommend coming to Boscoble House at least once if you're in Cold Spring. When I was here I also hiked the nearby Constitution Marsh and Indian Brooks Waterfall which are also great sights.

Yay if this is your kind of thing (Hudson valley old timey houses that is) then this is a nice treat. You drive off into small towns and the country, and you find a mansion built in the early 19th century with great views of the Hudson River. What I most like about houses like this are ones that focus both on a) this origin of the house and the family who lived there and b) how it came to be a historic landmark. Both parts are pretty interesting, especially how the house was restored and moved from its original location. The visitor's center presents some facts on the timeline of the house, and then you can pay for a house tour and/or garden visit. Our guide was very informative and the house looks really great and authentic. They also had a contemporary furniture show in the basement, a farmer's market on the premises, and a cute little gift shop. There is actually a lot to do/see for a small fee and a nice way to spend an afternoon in nice weather. And the guy who built it was named States Dyckman, and if you are familiar with the Dyckman family from NYC, it's cool to see a branch of it's history, and how cool is the name States? I should name my kid States.

Went for a Shakespeare Festival today. The grounds are beauty and he views of the Hudson River and West Point are breathtaking. Only 1 1/2 hour drive from NYC worth the trip.

What a wonderful escape. This was my second visit and well worth it. Sam was our tour guide- what a captivating place and location with the sweeping views of the Hudson valley. Originally built in 1808- relocated and restored in the 1950's. The mansion is of the Federal style- complete with expansive windows, brilliant warm colors, traditional molding and Duncan Phyfe furniture. I have been here in the fall and late spring... Any time of year is a good time to go.. If you go in early- mid June- you won't miss the rose blooms. During Christmas time, the house is beautifully decorated. I'm ready to go back! I added some photos...

Beautiful place! We took an audio tour and a docent tour around the mansion. Both were great. There was a nice surprise in the end of the tour! Definitely a wonderful museum to visit! The view is spectacular.

TEP deserves more than 5 stars for the amazing start to finish service we experienced on our 7 day…read moreadventure to Peru to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. From the time we signed up, to the time we boarded the plane to return home, TEP took care of every detail. We commented amongst ourselves that we felt like kids on vacation with our parents, as we didn't have to worry about any of the details - just show up and follow Neptali (our guide). From airport pickup in Cusco in luxury Mercedes vans where we were promptly served Coca tea to help with the altitude acclimation, to group dinners at amazing Peruvian restaurants, to historical tours and education on the history of the Inca - everything was covered and taken care of for us. And that was all before the amazing trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Of course the trek itself was the highlight of the trip, and although it was extremely challenging for us, TEP's unbelievable attention to detail did not fail us on the trail. With nearly a 2:1 porter to trekker ration, our every need was met on the trail. We dined like kings every meal, and were consistently amazed with the quality (and nutritional appropriateness) of the food our chef and sous chef were able to put out with minimal kitchen conveniences. The thing I felt was most special about TEP's approach to this trip was the focus on gaining a cultural and historical appreciation for what we were experiencing. Every step along the way, we learned about the native people of Peru, the Inca civilization, the many ruins we came across, the vegetation we saw and how it was and is used, and the history of modern Peru. It was the trip of a lifetime, and have the help of The Explorer's Passage made it so much more enjoyable, and so much more memorable. The value of what they provide is amazing for the cost....rather, for the investment. I highly recommend them!
