With 280+ acres this place is 5 stories tall and over: 1.48 MILLION SQ FT, 1200 rooms, 1000 fireplaces, 1700 windows!!! The backyard is just as lavish as the inside of the home; I've never seen a residence like this. As I write this I'm still at a loss for words at the sheer scale of the property. We spent 5 hours here and logged over 10 miles walked! If you have the chance it's worth doing, especially if you like history, architecture or just getting your steps in with unique things to see.

We have been here a couple of times and it was always closed, this time it was open and a…read morecustodian, Carlo, took us for a guided tour of about 90 minutes and have us a very articulate description of this historical gem within the town of Larino in Campobasso, Italy. The tour was free and we were only 4 people plus the guide, simply amazing. The amphitheater was built around 70 AD with a seating capacity of about 11000 people. Many spectacles occurred here, not the least to which were gladiators fighting amongst themselves or against lions, tigers, etc... It's a tremendous feeling to be standing in the same field where the fights took place, or to sit in the remaining seats and imagine what it must have looked like in centuries ago. This is literally a hidden gem, off the beaten path, and well worth the visit if you're in the area. Note there is no signage indicating hours of operation. I was told by the guide it is essentially open very day from 8:30 am to about 1 pm but closed on Sundays.

4000 years old! Tower of Cicerone!!…read more This is the Civitavecchia of Arpino! The oldest fixture in oldest town! The town that was built before Rome was built! The town also got attack many times by the romans. You can see the canon holes, a broken canon and so on here too! Climbing the tower: a must! My family's pride and joy this tower! And one of my cousins actually work for the city/government so he's all about restoring and making this place visited. They don't charge you anything! There are about 100 stairs to go up. It is already extremely hot right now so pick a good time. But it is fascinating and break taking to visit this! The story behind it! The history of it all! If you make it to Arpino, go here!!! You cant drive here: Park outside, about a 20 minutes walk and a climb up to get to the tower. Maybe even 30 minutes if you are slow! Just come see for yourself!
