Built in 1240 by Frederick II, Castel Del Monte stands imperiously on a hill in the western chain of the Murge, in Apulia region. Even the least engaged in architectural treasures. as I am, has been able to appreciate the particular form of this castle that is well away from the classical structure of the development of military defense. Its octagonal shape representing the infinity of the sky, with the eight towers that surround it, the number eight applicant in every detail (octagonal shape, eight towers, eight interior rooms, eight flowers on the frames of the portals, eight leaves on the capitals, and so on with a long series of examples) have stimulated the imagination of historians and scholars of esotericism.
