Boots the chemist was a very welcomed addition to the island several years ago. It is a relatively big shop filled with all the usual great boots items. The shop is always kept clean and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. At their busiest times they always have all possible till staff on to eliminate waiting times. They also have one of the 2 pharmacies in the town centre. So if one is busy it's great to be able to have another one to go to. It is the busiest of the chemist's shops, especially at lunchtimes. Boots Stornoway is the worst chemist in the UK. I was told by my doctor that my medication would be faxed through to Boots by September 16. I didn't get it till September 21 because the staff couldn't find what shelf it was on. Rarely do any of the staff seem to have a clue where anything is, what has been ordered, or when. I'll be taking my next prescription to the independent pharmacy around the corner. read more

The Boots in Stornoway always feels quite cramped - the aisles are narrow and they forever seem to be moving stuff around so there's nearly always empty shelves. They never seem to have what I'm looking for when I go in and if they do I nearly always find it cheaper in superdrug or the local chemists. They are one of two chemists in the town that process prescriptions so this is always handy and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The best bit about Boots is that you're able to test the perfumes yourself, they're not hidden away like in the other two places in town, though they're tagged so kept safe. Boots is generally the last place I'll go to if I'm looking for something, the stores on the mainland are much better stocked! read more
