The store is clean and tidy, with everything set out neatly on the shelves, easy to find what you are looking for. There are always great deals on the products, especially Boots No7 brand cosmetics. I love shopping in this store, they have a great reduced section too! If they don't have the item you want in stock, they are happy to order it in for you. This all changed on Wednesday 19th February 2014 when I approached the till operated by the assistant Ruth to pay for an item. I told this assistant that I wished to pay for the item using my Boots points and that I also had a discount voucher that I would like to redeem at the same time. She informed me that I was not allowed to use the discount voucher at the same time as redeeming points, I accepting this explanation without any problem. At this point she appeared to assume that I no longer wished to redeem my Boots points and once again she gave me the price in cash. I reiterated that I wanted to pay for the item with my points. At this, she very abruptly replied "you did not make that clear to me" repeating this more than once. I politely pointed out that I believed that I had made my intentions clear from the outset; she repeatedly insisted that I hadn't. Her attitude towards me was such that I felt that I was being admonished in the presence of other customers behind me in the queue. Not wishing to engage further in an argument with her, I paid for my purchase and left. If there was a misunderstanding between us, it certainly was not on my part and I hoped for an apology from her but instead I received a scolding. I believe I am owed an apology from Ruth as I left Boots Chemist very upset and reprimanded. I am a very alert lady in my early seventies but I was left feeling that I no longer had my dignity. Boots on Market Street in Halifax is pretty much your staple Boots in any town centre, nothing more…read morenothing less, obviously it is a useful store and brand to have in the town but does not offer anything more than the basic essential offering one would expect from Boots. The store is a decent size and does have a Pharmacy. Although, be warned it does close earlier than the regular store on a Sunday when the Pharmacy closes at 2 pm, and the main store closes at 4 pm. There is also an opticians area. The staff seem friendly enough, but the service was a little slow throughout the store. Again, the product range is okay, but a little worse than Boots locations nearby, and their online website. Locally, there are larger stores in Bradford, Huddersfield and Leeds. 3* - A useful store to have in Halifax town, but in terms of opening hours, product range and speed of service is less favourable than their nearby locations.

As well as the Pharmacy that you find in every Boots store, there is also an Optician and Hearing Care facility. Prices are competitive, other than the food/drink section, which I always find to be rather expensive at Boots compared to rival chains, as they rarely seem to have any offers in that section, combined with higher prices before promotional offers even come into play too. The selection is reasonable, the staff were friendly enough and this is a good Boots location overall that I would return to on future visits to York. 4*

We went to this Boots Pharmacy today ("pharmacy" being a huge understatement, as the store is large and it's very much like an American chain store) and bought the item we needed. The man who rang up our purchase (in the pharmacy section) was SUPER-friendly and we had a delightful conversation with him. Also; the store is well laid-out & very clean, and the selection looked very good.

There's also a dedicated perfume counter, photo lab, optician, pharmacy and a great baby section, selling everything from formula to cute kids' clothes. At the front of the store, you'll find fridges packed with tasty sandwiches, cold drinks and snacks for the famous Boots 'meal deal', too. They rearrange things occasionally which can be very confusing but the sales assistants are always very helpful and friendly. If I can't find something, there is always somebody around that I can ask. I have recently ordered some glasses from Boots and the service I received was great. I have a genetic eye condition that they hadn't seen before so they took photographs and had a good look at my eyes but they were always polite and made sure I had the time to spare. I don't think Boots is cheap really but they generally have a lot of offers on plus you get the advantage card points.

The selection of both men's and women's toiletries is quite extensive, but I would compare pricing with Boots elsewhere in the mall, as some items are considerably more expensive here, or in some cases considerably cheaper. The store layout is easy to follow and familiar to anyone who has visited a Superdrug store before. The staff members don't seem too polite or helpful, and some shelves and aisles do often appear to be blocked for restocking during busy periods, rather than doing it when the store is quiet to cause minimal disruption. 3* - A nice store for the White Rose, especially when supported by similar stores nearby, despite a couple of minor problems.

I managed to somehow get 6 cans of right guard for the price of one as they were on both BOGOF and 3 for 2 at the same time although I expect this was glich. I will certainly be popping in more often to check the special offers.
