What a unique place! It's kind of tucked away in the middle of a pasture! Lots of space inside - indoor and outdoor seating! A group of friends and I came here, ordered some food & beer, and played some board games! It was so fun. The owner was a very kind, he walked me through of all of their beer, letting me try sips of them to help me decide which one I wanted! I ended up with a glass of their jalapeño beer, it was so interesting and good! Their chips and dips were amazing! And they have smoothies that are delicious as well! Fun variety of things to try. We stayed the weekend and utilized the camper hookups. They have 30 and 50 amp, with a water hookup at each site, also a sewer dump just a short ways away. The View was AMAZING, this is an extremely peaceful location, walking distance to the brewery, and even though they were busy we couldn't hear a thing at our camp site. Be prepared to battle sand burrs for the duration of your stay, and possibly for the next view weeks after you leave. Most importantly the BEER is fantastic. Definitely a hidden oasis, in the sand hills of Nebraska. read more

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and owners. I got to try several of their brews which were all very good. I will definitely go back and try their food sometime. Blink and you'll miss the sign though. I used the map on Yelp to track down the turnoff. Thankfully I had a strong enough cell signal. - Or clock five miles north of Taylor. If make it to the Calamus River, you need to backtrack a couple of miles. read more

What a shock to arrive at this facility after driving down three miles of dusty gravel. It is larger and busier than I would have expected. There are even five cabins that can be rented, and we also saw a small contingent of people camping nearby. Food offerings are available, and the beer list is larger than I had anticipated. Whether you need a break from the nearby Calamus lake, or are up for a little road trip Sandhills Brewery is worth the trip. The space is beautiful with plenty of seating for large groups if needed. Not only is their beer incredible, but the cocktails are well crafted too. The Bloody Mary was delish, as was Clamato in combo with their unique Jalapeño beer. The taster flights are very generous, and a great idea to kick off your visit and make an educated decision on which pint you want. Even the drive is fun, with signs and statues decorating the long road keeping you entertained with every bend. Support this small town local Nebraska brewery, they deserve it! read more

Bootleg is unique when compared to the other breweries I've been to in Nebraska. The brewery is huge with a second story loft in addition to a large outdoor patio with an outdoor bar. The ground on which it sits is impressive and contains a number of cabins which can be rented allowing you to drink even more! The beer is also very good. It's among the better options in the state. While the food is average, it's good enough that you can eat it and soak up the alcohol. read more

An Oasis in the desert. The scenery was exceptional. The cabins were really nice, clean and modern. The beer was very good. We ordered steaks for dinner and were disappointed. It was in the middle of the week and we think they may have not had the A team working. I would go back there again. If you want a totally unique experience, i would head for this place. A gem in the Sandhills. Beautiful grounds, nice building, great outdoor dining area. The beer is good, the food is ok (the steak was good but had a lot of gristle). If only the service lived up to the promise of the rest of the place. We had to get out own drinks and menus while the waitress walked past us a dozen times. We never got the second round of drinks. Had the worst food ever. Beer was fine. They were obviously understaffed with 2 waitresses trying to wait on tables, make drinks and deliver drinks and take orders for food and deliver food. The food that's the worst was the Beet, Mandarin and Quinoa Salad. $16 We got mostly romaine, 1/4 cup of quinoa, 4 pieces of mandarin oranges no beets, feta cheese topped with a plain cooked salmon. No dressing. My daughter got the chiclet fried steak that was burnt black on the bottom. I had to go get our silverware, ask for dressing and was told oh ya we're out of beets. I wouldn't bother going out of my way to eat here. There were other people in our group that the same stuff was happening and they were very rude and we were wondering why they charge so much for average food. Beer is fine for a brewery but again no reason to travel that far. read more

Best day ever in the summer is tanking or tubing down the Calamus. Then head to Bootleg Brewery and enjoy the brews and food! The Naked Orange Stinger was a pleasant surprise, very smooth for a citrus based beer. Food and service are top notch. This place is one of Nebraska's hidden gems in my book! read more

It took me a very long Time to write this review!! My Husband and I had our wedding here on June 3rd. Bootleg is truly a beautiful place. The most amazing venue, that is why We choose it. But, Unfortunately over all it ended up being Worst experience I've ever had. Never expected it since I worked for bootleg for almost a year. I will say though before I start, Thank you again. Thank you for hiring a team of horses for us, after everything that was very nice. They were beautiful!! The waitstaff, that Worked throughout the day and night, were great as usually, love my girls! We where accused by all 3 owners, that we where sneaking outside beer in water bottles in, witch never happened, I did work there for goodness sake. I asked all our wedding attendants and every single person there where drinking bootleg alcohol and had open tabs there!! Casey and I had to give them a card to hold our tab, even though for the last year casey and I personally have never had to do that, to me that's just petty acting like we're not going to pay our tabs. Considering we where staying there Friday, and Saturday night! Ron was super helpful, and very polite to my father-in-law, and throughout the day as well. Wanda cooked our food, with the help of Isaac, did an absolutely amazing job, it was everything I asked for!!! However Stefanie was very rude!! From the beginning of the day!! We where told we weren't even aloud in the building while decorating. They had the doors wide open cleaning, and my hair and makeup girls not knowing we couldn't be inside walk through the doors and Stefanie puts her finger in the faces and tells them to turn around and get out. They had no idea, any person could have came out there and walked in as a customer. I know I would if I showed up and the doors where open. We weren't aloud to use the walk in for cold stuff. Ron in the end let us use the beer cooler, but even after that they took $250 worth of gourmet donuts out and set them along a wall. I had no Idea that they did it, and of coarse they went bad, I couldn't serve them to my guests. Stefanie quoted us $2,700 for our wedding. 8 months before. Dream come true, great deal!! So we thought! Sally the manager at the time tried to help in every way possible, like helping book us a band, we only had to pay half for, we where told it was a gift from bootleg, from Stefanie, for our wedding, but not truly the case because my wedding ended up being open to the public at 9, and they sold tickets to them! We Had random people eating my cake and chocolate fountain. Unfortunately they turned Sally into the middle man, and in the end where very rude, hurtful, and made it all to be Sally's fault, but that wasn't the case at all. 30 days before my wedding they upped my invoice from $2,700 to $4,403. $500 of that was from us adding 50 more plates of food, and was totally my choice. 10 days before then it went up another $900. And No I did not sign a contract, because I guess at the time I didn't know I had to considering again I worked there, huge mistake on my part. The day of, they charged me $50 for table cloths that I was told was part of my venue. Also charged me $4 for a pitcher of Tea to serve my guests. Complained because my family brought cake in, well it was a wedding. My cousin had to go inside and basically yell about them to get them to at least serve my guests tea and water, and clear tables!! In the end it was never about the fact of paying $5,000 because in reality for a place like that, that's still pretty good, I mean come on, it's beautiful there! Dodie did a great job designing it, and that's what it should have been, but should have been that 8 months before when I was originally quoted. I had no choice but to have the wedding there because we had no where to go! I felt truly screwed over and it really put us in a bind, very last minute. After dealing with this, I found out from other couples they had done similar things to them, and they refuse to ever come back. Along with a wedding that was suppose to be 2 weekends after mine, and ended up canceling because of the same issues! If I could sadly I'd give - because of the complete and total unprofessionalism, and just plain rudeness. I found out the hard way how they treat people. Doesn't matter what you do or have done for them. Huge slap to the face!!! Good luck to them. Hope for there sake they get there stuff together. read more

This is a super cool place in the middle of the Sandhills! Traveled over gravel and by grazing cows and calves to find a modern bar and grill atmosphere, quaint cabins, and good beer. We stopped on a busy weekend (Burwell rodeo), so expected a crowd. We did not expect poor quality ingredients (cheap, store-bought bun and cheese, frozen appetizers), overcooked meat, and a nearly non- existent waitress. Our 2.5 hour supper should have taken one hour....it took 45 minutes to get a food order in. Lots of potential here, but work to do!!! read more
