Great museum about Dodge city, its former famous citizens and tons of artifacts from the past. Stroll the old west with the recreated main street with a fully functional soda store and ice cream store. While I was there during the off season I have heard they normally have a recreated gun fight during the summer. Wish I had more time here but had to visit at the end of the day. Also has a great souvenir store too.

This is an amazing museum to visit if you're ever in town, put it on your list of things to see in Dodge City. The history is amazing and if you're a History buff or love anything to do with the TV series "Gun Smoke", you're going to love this place. During the summer, they have live musical shows in the full service saloon that sells Sarsparilla, Beer, Whiskey shots and soda.

This was such a great experience from the history to the live action to the wonderful dinner theater. When you are a fan of history and the old west this checks all the boxes. The facility is clean the team are so nice and helpful. The gift shop has so many great things this is a must stop for someone's travels across the American west.

Great history that covers everything Dodge City. We were in winter months so no reenactment activity. But it was nice walking around without the crowds. Had a beer at the saloon. Strolling leisurely, we were there 3 hours. Much to see and learn. Don't be disappointed that it's not original buildings. Those burned down in the 1890's. Best time to come is July when many events going on, especially the cattle drive down Wyatt Earp Blvd.

Beautiful lights in the original church building.

Lots of info regarding Wyatt Earp and the days of outlaws, cattle drives, buffalo slaughter, stage coaches, Native Americans, and the Wild West. The museum is a walk-through with lots to read and see. The charge includes the muse and old-town area (filled with lots more reading and displays). A house, blacksmith shop and church are the only original buildings here. The price seems a little high for what you get, probably not a good stop if you have young children.

Young lady seems to have found the spot on Main Street where all the bad guys died? It appears she thinks rolling in all the imaginary blood will give her their strength!! But they got shot right? This is an incredible experience for young and old as it is very informative and very very nicely done. You actually don't have to walk outside much to see everything and there is a lot to see

i love boothill museum hes so yeehaw and so cute the staff was so nice too i asked sandra if i can see boothill and she said of course and she showed me the way to see him and i saw the most jaw dropping, heart stopping, mind bogglin, grandma reviving, toe curling boothill ever. He was so pretty i love him so much.. so then i made out with him and the end!! Totally recommend that you come here, 5 star!!!!

Took my husband who is a big Western movie guy. We had such a fun time! We got the Marshalls pass and it didn't not disappoint. That includes an all day pass to everything in the museum AND a dinner and the variety show with Miss Kitty and her crew. Such a fun day! And the gun fights were a lot of fun too. We got to see three of them and they were all different stories! Thanks guys!

Wonderful museum and entertaining gun fight and can-can lessons. Spectacular gift shops, charming bar, nice soda fountain for simple lunch and ice cream favorites. Great recreation of Wild West town with nods to the TV show, Gunsmoke.

I was hoping to see a wooden structure with all its glory and warscars... But no wood was used so the fort was trenches and mudhuts... This town/village houses 160 people and some government military institutions as the name changed to the Kansas Soldierss' Home back in 1890!!! The fort was built in 1865 to protect pioneers traversing the santa fe trail heading to the southwest (new mexico territories). All skirmishes westward would besed in fort dodge since 900 miles north or south would get you close to canada and mejico. Plus this is 1300 miles from disneyland! Basically the "Plain" Indian campaigns were based from here. Needless to say it took five or so years to handle the Comanche and Kiowa tribes (im not trivializing genocide). The fort left all indian skirmishes to small raids rather than battles. General Custer was based here and his home is a museum now. Although the fort had a short life span, this spot was super important with manifest destiny post civil war. And yes, western kansas was confederate but so far out, western kansas had little influence for the civil war. Forts started popping up in surrounding areas, thanks to railroad expansion thus leading to firt dodge's limited lifespan. Fyi. Everything closed on sunday. I missed the museum :/

That said, if you're in the area, you should absolutely go but treat it more like a quick historical lesson than some sweeping, cinematic destination. It's not the Alamo. You kind of expect Boot Hill to match the scale of the myth. All those dramatic Wild West stories make it sound expansive, mysterious, almost epic. And then you arrive and realize it's adorably tiny. Like, shockingly tiny. "Is this it?" tiny. Still, there's something charming about seeing the real place behind the mythology. If you frame it as an instructional stop rather than a grand spectacle, it's worth the detour. Technically it's probably a three-star experience. But I'm giving it five, because nudging the average to 3.1 stars feels like the most historically accurate outcome here. Getting to 3.5 might be a challenging endeavor. Also, big points for one thing that truly held up: "Time to git outta Dodge." The phrase may have aged better than the attraction.
