We are a Hispanic family, and we visited this Book Center, interested in purchasing a few new books…read morefor my kids. From the onset, we were stared at when we walked in rather than being welcomed in. We were followed around the entire time we were there. We were quietly walking around browsing, but it felt awkward the way we were being stared at (and not in a friendly manner) the whole time we were there. Other customers at the store (non-Hispanic) were not being treated this way. Discrimination at its finest, we felt and saw it. We quietly left the store to never return again. We always spend hundreds of dollars every quarter purchasing new books, and not a penny will be spent at this store. The Book Depot nearby was a much more pleasant experience.

It's a two-story space packed with books, plus a great mix of gifts and toys--especially for kids. You can easily spend a lot of time browsing without realizing it. We've been coming here for years, and it still holds up every time. Places like this are becoming rare, and it's exactly the kind of local business worth supporting. Prices for children and young adult books should be lowered to encourage young people to buy more books and read.
