The bookstore is clean and has friendly staff. I love that they have an educator's club which gives teachers 20% off of the purchase!

Finally decided to stop here after driving by the sign for "Books" for literally years. The store…read moredoesn't appear to be very large from the outside, but, you may find yourself slightly overwhelmed once you walk in. The books are practically floor to ceiling in some areas with many of the shelves being two stacks deep. Books are organized by genre and first letter of author's last name. Genres range from Mystery and Romance to Classics and End Table books. There is also a room full of children's books and a decent selection for young adults. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere of the store. It is relaxed and fairly quiet. No one comes up to ask what you're looking for (although you can ask for specific titles/authors if you need) or eyes you while you're digging through the stacks trying to find exactly what you want. There are several step stools around to help you reach the highest shelves and be sure to grab a shopping basket at the entrance, as you'll likely need one. Remember, all of these books are used and come in varying conditions. All of the books that I purchased were in good to excellent condition. For the price of $3 per book, you can't beat it. He even accepts trade-ins, which then brings the price down to $2 per book, if I understood correctly. He accepts cash and credit. I have no complaints at all and will definitely be going back to gauge how often the stock changes. Thankful to have a used bookstore nearby. What I spent today on 12 books wouldn't have even gotten me 3 at Barnes & Noble.

Truly an outstanding used bookstore (with perhaps a few new, unused books, as well) that's well…read moreworth visiting. Browsing their inventory - it's extensive and generally well organized - is kind of entering a time warp. You won't find that much fiction published in, say, the past 20 or more years. But going back further is where they have their depth. Want, for example, to fill out your Erskine Caldwell first edition collection? They've got you covered. It's actually a little uncanny. (I almost expected to bump into Rod Serling prowling the stacks during my most recent visit.) Staff persons on duty during both my visits over the past two years were very friendly and helpful.

Last time I was in Owego, I stopped into Riverow with some friends and had a wonderful time. The…read morestaff was friendly and the books are incredible- I've never seen so many topics, with reasonable prices. I purchased several books on that visit, and eagerly looked forward to visiting today- planned the whole day around it. Got to the bookstore but quickly felt a call of nature. The sole staff member, clearly irritated, informed me there was no public bathroom, but that I could find them across the street at the Owego info center. I went into the info center only to be informed that their bathrooms are private, too, and that Riverow has been told "repeatedly" to stop sending people there. The desk attendant was kind & let me use the restroom. I returned to the bookstore deeply mortified. I couldn't bring myself to stay and didn't purchase anything. I left feeling humiliated and disappointed, especially since I live far from Owego and this was a special occasion.
