As we walked by, we saw a sign that said, "Secret Book & Record Store", with an arrow pointing into a deep narrow hallway with posters of advertisements covering the walls. These places are the great finds in Dublin. At the end of the hall was a large room filled with used books, vintage vinyl & new releases including CDs. The store was a frezy of customers flipping through the bins of vinyl to find that one great band from their past. I did find a few old 80s punk albums but still on a quest today to find an original GBH or Exploited cover.

Those that know me know I am a complete book girly. What asked what my pass time and hobbies are books are the answer to both. They also had date with a book in which you only have a clue summary about the book that gives you a brief exiting blurb to catch your eye. Loved that they make reading fun! Named after republican James Connelly, this book has cool texts on decolonization, racism, Irish history, and more.Their selection is well curated and great for leftists and history buffs. But, I decided to be brave and check Sub-City out, for the sake of adventure and boredom. Now, having absolutely no knowledge of comics, going into a lion's den of this sort was extremely intimidating. I really didn't have much to look for or at, because I wasn't looking for anything and didn't know what I was looking at. But, the guy at the desk greeted me like he would any other comic book dork and I was enlivened. I perused the comics, marveled at the amazing artwork in some and checked out the models, which are probably a lot of fun to put together. The guy was tied up with another customer, but when they were done I knew he was going to come talk to me and I got all panicked. Lo and behold, he sauntered over and chippily said, "how's it going?" "I don't know what I'm doing, I'm just looking around. Huuyuuuh thanks!," I blubbered. He laughed and proceeded to say it was totally cool and to let him know if I needed help. He handled my dork meltdown well, which makes me think he probably deals with that a lot.
