The eggs bennie should not have worked on a steam tray. While they didn't seem classic eggs benedict, there was a nice english muffin topped with thin ham and a nicely runny egg. I liked it. The posole was great as were the make your own tacos (with a pulled pork that was nicely tender). Scrambled eggs worked as did the generous thick sliced bacon. Oddly, the biscuits and gravy didn't work for me - somehow they were on the sweet side. That should have been a slam dunk, but not so much. Not a fan of the apricot sauced sausage patties either. Sounded better than it tasted. But, for the price, I got a lot of good food. It was more than enough to fill me. I do think you need to be selective here. The space is HUGE. You do need to remember that this is a catering venue and I think it would be delightful for a large party. The mid-room floor to ceiling stone fireplace is spectacular and I can see wedding photos staged in front of it. Also, given that it is a catering hall, be prepared for plastic tables that can be rearranged easily. Servers were VERY friendly and efficient. Not a bad Bloody Mary, either. So, I'd say not to expect elegance, but good value.

Some of the items were pretty decent. But a lot of them were what you would expect from a hot continental breakfast at a hotel. The deserts though they looked good, were not good. All of the trays were covered with nowhere to put the cover, cumbersome. This is like golden corral with uncomfortable seats in an awkward setting.

The owner gave us some tasty samples of pork cuts and we had to go for it. For $11, you can get 2 meat cuts and 1 side. The portions are huge and the quality is unbelievable. The cooker is right next to the food truck and it comes directly to the truck where she cuts it up for the customer. I had pork bbq and rib combo. The pork was so tender, juicy and flavorful. Nice and crispy on the outside and moist & tender on the inside. I could not have asked for anything else while sitting in front of the truck starring at the mountains on a cool autumn day. It's a must stop for travelers for sure.

My husband booked this stay as an anniversary get-away. We knew it was going to be rustic. We didn't prepare ourselves for it being unsafe. We stayed in cabin 15. I cannot speak of the cleanliness or safety of the other cabins. Please, before booking cabin 15 at Mesa Lodge, be aware that the steps are unsafe. As noted in the pictures, they should be replaced immediately. I spoke to the co-owner and she said, "They have been that way for years." When the rain started, my husband did not want me using the stairs. He was fearful of me falling. Well, he FELL twice. We went to the main lodge to be moved but they were closed. At this point, we returned the key and headed to Grand Junction. The following morning my husband called to request our money be refunded. The co-owner did call us back and said she would discuss it with her husband. We have heard nothing. Positives of Mesa Lake Lodge: The area is phenomenal. The drive is break taking. The beauty and tranquility of the trees and water make it a gem of a location. We ate in the lodge. The meal was very good. We both loved the French fries. The hostess was nice. They did offer a military discount. As of July 2024: The Mesa Lakes Lodge has been in contact with my husband. They issued a refund. Thank you so much! We appreciate it.

The cabins are impressive and a far cry from camping, so if you desire to "rough it" in luxury this is the place for you. There is a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. The shower is absolutely amazing, and the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are glorious. The beds and linens are comfy, and there is tons of room for sitting and chatting as you play games or watch tv. You don't need to pack anything beyond clothes and food/beverages, but if you forget anything, the store can help you out. The lake is well stocked with Rainbow Trout, but after a weak winter, the lakes are low and the shoreline is dusty and muddy. Don't let your kiddos try to enter the lake or they may find themselves stuck in mud. There are not any trails on site, so you have to drive to hike. Maybe the owner will clear some eventually. We had a pretty great time until: 1. The gigantic mosquitos and flies arrived. It would be nice if the porch was screened so you could sit and enjoy the view without clouds of bugs encircling you. 2. No AC, which is fine, but a ceiling fan upstairs would be helpful to lower the temp. 3. No window covering upstairs (on door), so kids struggled sleeping in a bit, and they didn't have privacy when changing clothes at night. 4. We were awakened around 1 AM on during our last night by a side-by-side driving around. Considering the time, we thought there might be a bear or some trouble, so we woke up and walked out to find the owner of the camp naked on his side-by-side talking to the "campers" next to us. Why is someone riding around naked when customers are on site? We considered reporting to police and forestry service because it was alarming and indecent. All in all, this "resort" would a great venue for celebrations because of the lodge, amenities, and location. However, with our kids, we won't return after the midnight nudity ride. It made us all uncomfortable and we packed and left before check out the next morning.

First time driving thru Palisade on our way back from Grand Junction and Moab. It's a quaint town known for local farms and wineries. For starters, you are surrounded by beautiful views of the Grand Mesa. It's a charming store with an abundance of products. You can easily drop a small fortune if you weren't careful. We bought a whole lot of fresh peaches, cherries and jams. The peaches and cherries were consumed right away, and damn they were mighty tasty treats. Nothing better than freshly harvested fruits. The peaches steal the show, but I implore you not to skip out on the cherries. They are just as fantastic! There are a good amount of orchards and farms to choose from when out in Palisade.
