If your looking for quality service and a friendly atmosphere where you can find a nice selection…read moreof glasses then look no further. (NO PUN INTENDED) Dr Johnson has all the latest equipment to ensure you get the right care for your eyes and your prescription works for you. The entire staff is great and Dr Johnson is competent, polite, and doesn't try to rush you through your appointments. Sure there are days they are busy and have to get their appointments in, but rest assured they make sure you are satisfied and everything is correct before they finalize your billing. If there ever is an issue they correct it as good as they correct your vision. Thank you Dr. Johnson and staff for your continuous great service to your community in the optometry field.

It was like I was wearing someone else's glasses. They made me sick to my stomach. The staff was very helpful and had me come back. They tweaked my prescription and remade the glasses- still made me sick to wear them. I called back and the person who answered the phone said my complaint sounded like what people say when they can't adjust to the new lens material (my glasses had the "old" polymer material) but she wasn't the doctor so couldn't say anything. They refunded me $64 for the frames but kept giving me the runaround on a lens refund. Went to another eye doctor. They said right away my complaints sounded like when people can't tolerate the new lens material. Had to pay out of pocket for an exam there (bc my insurance already paid for Dr. Johnson's exam). The prescription was very close to what Dr. Johnson found. I had to pay fully out of pocket for new glasses in the old polymer material but the glasses are perfect. I can wear them without getting sick. So it WAS a material issue. Dr. Johnson's office refuses to return my phone calls now and I am out around $250 for glasses they have in their possession (I gave them back when I couldn't wear them). My son (who wears glasses and contacts) and I were both patients there. Apparently, keeping my $250 is more important to Dr. Johnson than keeping two patients - both in contacts and glasses - in his practice. I would highly advise avoiding this guy.

Let just start out by saying Dr. Brownstone was a nice guy on each visit, never seemed to have rushed through the appointments and always ensured me I was a good candidate for Lasik surgery. Up until the spring of 2008. Everything was fine up to my first surgery date. Day of surgery - I arrived ahead of schedule looking forward to finally being able to ditch the glasses and contacts that I had become so accustomed to wearing since grade 1. Finally - I can wake up and not scramble for my glasses to see the world. Surgery went well - I had 44 and 42 seconds on each eye under the laser - which I thought was an eternity of trying to stare at a blurry hazy purple light. When the Dr. said surgery went well and said I was all done, upon sitting up I could immediately see the difference - although foggy at the time I could make out the sign on the door approx 15 feet away. Recovery was quick and easy. Excited with my new outlook on life I was ready to toss the prescriptions glasses and contacts. Everything was fine and dandy until the winter of 2007. Approx 10 months later my vision was gradually decreasing and getting noticeably blurry (especially in my left eye) causing headaches and having difficulty focusing on screens at work. Dr. Brownstone suggested a "touch-up surgery" on my left eye. January 2008, again arrived early for the touch up surgery, hoping this would resolve the issues as I was assured by Dr. Brownstone that it would. Surgery was quick with significantly less time under the laser for the 2nd treatment on my left eye. The touch-up seemed to have worked when I immediately sat up, again foggy but clearer. went home for recovery. The days following surgery I could see my eye sight was getting blurry once again in my left eye. The response I received from Dr. Brownstone was shocking - "Its not that bad and you'll still be able to drive". This is my eyesight - "its not that bad" is not in my vocabulary when it comes to vision. 2008, I moved from Champaign to Chicago - Thankfully I was transferred through work. I was getting nowhere with Dr. Brownstones offices. 2008-2012 I have been seeing two very competent and knowledgeable eye Dr's/surgeons who know their stuff. Since 2008 I have been blinded in my left eye - the eye progressed to the point where any dominant color in my view becomes the main thing I see through my left eye - leaving me fighting to focus between my right and left. Between my two new Dr's and hours of countless trips to the offices we have been able to find a scleral lens that is able to produce some type of clarity out of my left eye. Although its not clear it brings back my depth perception and reduces the headaches. Night driving is still rough with halo's and dark spots. The issue with my left eye cannot be fixed by glasses.. It can only be "fixed" by special, expensive contact lenses. My right eye has also degenerated to the point where I need special contacts to see out of my right eye. So far we're trying RGP lenses in my right eye to bring clearer vision back into sight. Dr. Brownstones office up to the second surgery was quick attentive, quick to return calls after the second surgery and left eye sight became blurry once again it was like I had caught the plague. It was a challenge to get in touch with someone and I was constantly told: It was ok Would or could get better In time the halos will disappear Your eye-sight won't get any worse. Very disappointed overall of my care under Dr. Brownstone. This mess has and probably will affect me for the rest of my life. Constant care under eye specialists, glasses cannot fix the problem so once I take the special contact lenses out I am blind for the night... I would give this review zero stars if possible. This was a life changer and I hope the review helps you on your search for the right Lasik eye dr. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I have and still am going through....
