My family has had an outstanding experience at White Station Middle School (WSMS). I had one child…read moregraduate in 2023 and another that will graduate 8th grade this year. Both are in the optional program and transitioned easily from elementary school. The school does a great job of welcoming new students and getting them acclimated. There is a great orientation in the summer as well as a popcorn social for new students to get to know one another. The academics are top notch with a wide variety of classes ranging from traditional to honors to the opportunity to take high school courses onsite at WSMS in 7th and/or 8th grade if they qualify. The teaching staff is excellent with many having taught at WSMS for many years. There are many extracurricular activities to choose from such as extensive sports offerings and approximately 40 clubs. The academic clubs are very accomplished, winning competitions at the state and national levels. Many of the athletic teams are city champions and compete well in state competitions. There are many musical offerings including three orchestras, a number of choirs, an acapella group, and the school band. Last year, WSMS students made up 25% of the All-West Orchestra. The musical offerings are excellent and enriching for the entire student body, even for those who do not participate and only attend the concerts. The parents association has been very welcoming to me and I have enjoyed getting involved. Both of my kids made friends quickly and it is a fun and positive social environment. Many students matriculate to White Station High School, which has the most robust academic offerings in the county. WSHS has more AP classes than any school in the area, more National Merit Semifinalists than any school in west Tennessee, more than 50 clubs, as well as robust athletic offerings.

You will need to look elsewhere for that and there are schools in the area that will help you with those goals. But, if you are more concerned with producing an educated Christian, then this is THE school. The Harding preschool your review addresses, has been closed. The 'closer' location is where my child started school at 2-years old. She is getting ready to graduate with a weighted GPA of 4.79 and be sought after by so many universities and colleges, I cannot keep track. GO LIONS!

Yay! I am a fan is a really good way of saying it. Over the past four years of watching boy/girls…read morebasketball and soccer I can honestly say, "Catholic High Has Balls". This once widely known and revered school was the stuff that caused competing schools athletes to have nightmares and pregame nervous breakdowns. Just look at the countless placards, trophies, awards, and state championship that are on display outside and inside the Gym. For what ever reasons this school had fallen upon some lean years during the 2000 decade, but now with this new bunch of students, parents and facility Catholic is poised to make a come back. I've seen the Girls basket ball team improve so much over the past four years that I can predict that more glory days are just around the corner. The Soccer program is currently weak but when you look at just the pure desire and downright grit these players have it will not take to long for them to build up a winning program. From the varsity boys team fielding three female players to complete the required eleven, or the veracity and cheering of the team parents to stand and support these athletes win or loose is a true inspiration. Hats off to a wonderful inter city school who has a great future and to all the students who will endeavor to always achieve lofty goals and make Memphis proud.
