Instead, they're asking me to pay a large upfront fee just to try an unfamiliar provider. It seems like a huge waste to spend all that money trenching an entire neighborhood for fiber and then create another barrier for the very customers you're trying to win over. If the goal is to take business away from Xfinity, charging $300 to get started is a pretty terrible sales strategy.
