I fully appreciated the blanket and heaters that were brought over as it was a chilly evening, yet we were still "indoors" but not. I chose the slowly roasted beef ribs rice and was not expecting savory goodness that arrived! The beef ribs melted in my mouth and the rice was so incredibly flavorful - I would order this over and over again! Of all the restaurants I've been to, Figueira Rubaiyat has by far the one of the most extensive wine list I've seen, featuring many different wines from around the world, including Brazil of course! There is also a gift shop that should not be missed because of the very unique items that are found here - and a place I'll need to visit next time I'm in the area again! The entire experience is one that should not be missed. Every detail and every bite was absolute perfection!

Great Brazilian food. You have unlimited access to the salad buffet if you order some of their main dishes. I had the "escondidinho de mandioca" and the "virado a paulista". Definitely recommend them. Service was beyond expectations and the price was great (around 10$ for a whole meal!).

There were certainly plenty of Japanese speaking customers mixed in with Portuguese. And I, the odd tourist, felt right at home. The bamboo shoot and shitake mushroom appetizers were delectable. The chicken broth ramen was insipid. The Gyukatsu Kare (breaded fried beef with curry sauce over rice) was better, but not the ultra crispy panko planks I've had in some places. Maybe it was because I ordered it at the end of the night. The Brazilian brewed cold sake was really good. Could hardly tell the difference from Japanese sake. But, the highlight of the dinner of Sanma Shio--grilled pike mackerel with sea salt. Inexpensive for Sanma, uber fresh, grilled crispy so that you could crunch up the head and tail! The service was prompt, efficient and very warm. Even the owner came by to chat several times. Arigato gozaimasu! Obrigado! Thank you.

Something to keep in mind if you're considering going here and you're a visitor. Other than that, the food is pretty standard izakaya fare- not that much of a Brazilian influence from what we could tell. And we're very familiar with the genre (tons of these in the NYC) so we knew what to expect. The food is pretty tasty and the service was pretty good. The restaurant kinda feels like you walked into someone's kitchen which is pretty interesting. But overall we've actually had much better Japanese food. So there's that. But not a bad option if you're looking for something completely different in São Paulo.

It was an incredible experience. there wasn't a bad dish at all. the star for me was the sesame dessert, the pork belly, and the kalbi. I am floored by their ability to hold to traditional Korean dish elements, like the banchan, and the essence and flavours, but still being such a refreshing and unique approach to the dishes. the pork belly almost knocked me out of my chair. the intensity of the flavour, coupled with the tenderness was just magical. I appreciated the kimchi rice and egg because the egg added such a soft and delicate balance to the meal without being over powering or tasting like egg. such a big fan of the desserts, both were so different. we got the sesame and the merengue. it was a beautiful balance of flavours. I would say the sesame took the cake [pun intended], because the flavours were so perfectly balanced. not too sweet, not too savory, just a nice expression of the sesame through intentional flavours. their drinks were also quite delightful. the "only and" was my favourite. this spot is listed on many "must" lists in São Paulo, and of course just very pleased to be visiting these incredibly awarded Michelin star restaurants while here. one a day for five days straight, so I'll keep sharing as we visit more.

Around the restaurant there are a lot of photos of Japan, and there was a displayed video of those Walk-tours of Japan on the tv screen. Overall a fun vibe! The food itself was very good. We enjoyed the katsu sando! Very crispy fried bread on the outside, juicy chicken inside. The sara udon was not your typical large noodle but rather pan fried noodle in sauce, so once submerged in the sauce the noodles turn from crispy to soft. It had a lot of good veggies and the squid and pork was tasty too. My favorite dish was the tempura udon. It was a classic dish, and it hit the spot for me. The sashimi bowl was good too, but I've had better. The pieces I had were bit dry and chewy, so it didn't taste very fresh; to be honest, it was not the best sashimi I've had. Good service as well! We got our drink orders and food rather quickly, aside from the tempura udon which came last. It is really busy - you sign up on the waitlist outside. But the line goes fast!
