I found with quite a few other gyms they would charge you extra to go to their spin class. At City Fitness all you need to go is book a bike to make sure you don't miss out. At City Fitness they have a large range of cardio machines, free weights, machines and also a women's separate section. I find myself spending a lot of time in this section purely because a) the men dominate the weights section and b) it can be incredibly intimidating doing weights in front of the men. They have a lot of personal trainers walking around offering assistance to those who need while they're waiting to talk their private sessions. They also sell a lot of work out supplements and more often than not have some great deals. If youre looking for a gym with a fun environment I would recommend coming to check out City Fitness.

It's a calm oasis in there, with the most amazing air con and facilities you have seen in a gym. In fact I think gym is too much of a dirty word to associate with this pristine place. Because they keep a cap on membership, there is never a line for the equipment, the instructors are always on hand to dole out helpful advice and they even email to check up on you when you haven't been in for a few days. The facilities available to all members and casual members include a swimming pool, sauna room,a tennis court and a great range of weights/ exercise bikes and heaps of other exercise equipment. There are classes available too, a favourite of mine being tennis fit! And don't even get my started on the bathrooms, and the straighteners available, the shampoo/ conditioner\ bathrobes. They really have thought of everything. Why just the other day I got offered a free hour long facial and massage just for being a member. Have I tempted you yet?

I'm a fan and will probably try to come to more classes. I think the only thing I would have liked is if our form was checked/corrected. I honestly based my movements on what others in the class were doing vs what was actually best for the workout. Some people were bending knees, some people weren't. So I'm not sure what was actually the best form.

I have recently left this gym due to the poor management from what I believe is the new owner and definitely the manager of the gym. They've bullied the old trainers out of their positions. And, replaced these trainers whom have worked at this gym for more then 3years with unqualified trainers and staff. Half the time the gym is completely understaffed. And, when you ask management or reception staff about the changes or even gym announcements, they don't know what is going on. The manager doesn't speak good English, or doesn't understand her position there. I have asked her about the announcements and changes in the gym, which she looks at me, laughs talks really fast and tells me she doesn't know or, to ask again later??? I have even overheard her saying inappropriate things about staff to other staff members, in front of me. This is the MANAGER of MissGym. Also, there have been a few times I have come to the gym when the manager is talking in another language to her friend behind reception and ignores the people coming into the gym. It's very unprofessional and rude. For the past three weeks, MissGym have been advertising free personalised nutrition. When I ask about this, all the staff including the manager don't know anything about it. Rather advise me to email management??? Which, every time I have, even regarding the changes in the gym. I have been ignored. So, now I don't bother. Over the past two months, the gym has become very quiet. Especially when the two main trainers left. The same service and professionalism is not at the gym anymore, and barely worth the membership price they're asking for weekly. Equipment is broken or needs to be replaced. Classes get canceled without any notice. The classes are not the same. Definitely below average as they have managed now, to get rid of one of the top group fitness trainers. I would recommend anyone looking at joining this gym to seriously look elsewhere.

Dumbbells, machine weights, FREE WEIGHTS (which Jett's doesn't have) Very packed during peak hours so I avoid going at those times. I mean, its a 24-hour gym... there so many more options than before or after work. I trained with a personal trainer, Julian, for a few months and was getting great motivation and tips on exercise and nutrition. The administrative staff here are great, was able to put my membership on hold for 3 months while I was away in Boston and there weren't any branches close by. I think I'm on the cheapest rate they have which comes to $60 a month

If you're looking for a gym where the trainers and gym bunnies working there, treat you as an equal here is your number one choice ladies. Great brand machinery, and an adjoining room out the back for aerobics, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, kick boxing, you name it, there's a class. Get in and give it a try. You will either love it or not. But it was a thrill to work out here and the ladies who train here are a fun and chatty bunch too.

In those two years I adopted swimming as my preferred fitness activity. I went to the pool whenever I was stressed or sad or bored, and within minutes of entering the pool, I was as happy as I could ever be. This pool has soooo many things you can't find in New York: - As a student, it only cost me $5 or so to pop by for a swim. Almost every pool (aside from the dingy pools) in New York require membership just to be able to walk into the facility. And even the dingy pools require membership outside of Summer. - It's a 50 meter pool. You would be surprised how rare that is. - It has a kiddie pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, steam room, TWO saunas, a cafe, a gym, fitness classes, SCUBA CLASSES (!!!) an incredible locker room with curtains AND hot water.... really just incredible facilities. Nothing in New York comes close to that. Not even remotely. - The price is absolutely insane. Again, I only paid $5 to swim, and they don't force you to get a membership or anything. The only establishment that I've been to that comes close to this pool is Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. But a day pass is $50 USD (So maybe $60 NZD.... just for the day). Well, this is where it all started back in 1968 by the Mills family. If you are a Les Mills instructor like me, this is Mecca and it's a big deal to come here. Jamie D'Angelo is one of the managers at this gym who moved to NZ from the US. She gave us a tour of the facility. They have 2 floors and several buildings or towers connected by a bridge. They have a CrossFit area, free weights and machine area, cardio area, boxing area with a ring, and group fitness studios. They film masterclasses in the group fitness studios. The studios are huge and can fit up to 200 people. While in NZ, I took BodyPump, CX, and Body Attack from Dan Cohen, Georgina, Glen Ostergaard, and Susan Renata. I wanted to classes from Ben Main and Lisa Osborne but they were off. I would've loved to take Dan and Rach's Body Combat class but my flight was only 2 hours before their class started and I would have missed my flight. I know most people are like "who are those people and why are they a big deal?!" I'm not usually a big fan girl of actors and actresses but I love athletes, and people who promote Health and Fitness around the world - and that's what these people do and they are good and passionate about it. I'm a bit partial to BodyPump instructors because that's the class I teach (more certifications to come). I absolutely love taking Glen's class - he's the program director after all. He's the man behind the song selections and choreography for BodyPump. I loved Susan's class too - she's very chatty while she teaches and she connects with her participants. Jamie had told her that we were going to her class. Right before class started, we introduced ourselves to Susan and she knew we were "the girls from Vegas" and got a special mention in class. We noticed that the gym members keep to themselves. They go in, they go out. They're not the type that stick around after class to chat with the Instructor or other members like we do at our gym but that might be a cultural thing. The group fitness studios have ear plugs (for people who find the music too loud), drinking fountains and fans with misters. The gym has a small cafe where you can get a snack or a smoothie. There's a vending machine for bottled water and energy drinks. They also have a clothing store that carries mostly Reebok (the official outfitter of Les Mills) and a lady named Mary works there and she is an absolute sweetheart. She's very helpful and friendly. I think you have to pay for parking - not sure how that bit works since we stayed at a hotel nearby and got a multi-day pass.

Before joining I found it hard to do anything but now I am fit, healthy, and running 12km races. The staff at the gym are always really helpful. I especially love their classes because I don't even feel like I'm working out. Before I know it the class is over and I've done a massive work out. I went to their new Grit class the other day and it was really hard, as they warn you it is, but they weren't kidding. 30 minutes of hell. Despite this the instructor was really motivating and helpful. Even though Les Mills is a bit out of my pay cheque, at the end of the day what they help me with is priceless.

I've sent multiple emails in one day last week, yet you continue to ignore them. You've unlawfully taken money from my bank account--this is theft. Your lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable. Congratulations on setting the standard for one of the worst companies in Auckland. To anyone else experiencing this, my recommendation is to cancel your card and get a new one immediately. Then, take legal action--that's exactly what I plan to do. SENT LAST WEEK WITH MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP (phone calls no reply) Poor service and lack of professionalism.
