I've always felt intimidated at other gyms, but the staff at BU are incredible, welcoming, and so very kind. I found Body University after trying on wedding dresses last year and having a total meltdown about my weight and how I looked. I desperately wanted to get in shape for my wedding. Before joining the gym, I started with Francine's 12-week online program. She created at-home workouts and sample nutrition plans for me. She was always available when I had questions and scheduled in-person check-ins at the end of every 4 weeks. I was nervous to take before/after photos, but I'm glad I did because I was incredibly proud of my progress! Francine never pushed me to join the gym after the 12-week program ended - unlike the pushy sales people at the other chains (24 hour fitness, etc.). I joined simply because I truly loved the workouts and I haven't looked back! I actually look forward to working. The trainers and women are so encouraging and fun. I started at Body University back in December at the encouragement of my physical therapist to start doing strength training. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hyper-mobile) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and was super nervous to go to the gym - I was coming off years of not being able to exercise so I was pretty weak plus all my hyper-mobile limitations. I found Body University and met with Francine and she completely settled all fears and nerves. From my first work out, everything was modified to fit my needs, and we went really slow with adding weights. All of the trainers are super supportive and respect that everyone is on their own fitness journey. Francine has also created such a supportive community, I've been met with nothing but encouragement from the other women. If you're on the fence about joining, especially if you feel like you have limitations, just do it. Want to know If this place is legit? Is this gym going to get you the results not because they have heavy things to move around. I've been around enough fitness people in fact one of my family members is the fastest woman in the world. So I'm past the point of a personal trainer pointing at shit and counting down from 10 I'm not talking about that. What I'm talking about is a trainer that is currently training towards specific goals not only for themselves but for other people. And they have the vocabulary, the talent , and the knowledge to get you legitimate results in a specific amount of time. I met with Francine from her body posture to her voice to her drive to want to win, I knew from all my time around this world she knows what the Fck shes talking about. I pointed to her wall and I said "well clearly you didn't 3-D print those." she has a plethora of trophies and is a PRO IFBB she has won. If you want to get in control of your waist, your hormones, your sleep, If you don't want to pay to have someone show you how many times they can count and can say do 1 more. I started working out at Body University a little over a year ago. I fell in love after my first day. I had done strength training for years before going there and hadn't been able to find a good trainer/strength class since I had moved to California. Body University saved me! The classes are primarily strength training and the trainers are amazing. When I started at this gym, I was preparing for my wedding. Francine and Jason put me on a plan to whip me into shape and get me looking good for the wedding. Now, I am working out through my pregnancy and the trainers are very accommodating and help me find the right modifications for certain exercises. I've been coming here since 2014 working with Francine. Sydney, Francine, and Jason are an amazing team and with them you can truly accomplish your goals!! Their classes are 6 ppl at a time (unless you do personal training) so they aren't overpacked. With 6 ppl your still able to get that one on one attention similar to what you would get with a personal training sesh.
