I called Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic, and based on their reviews, decided that their practice was best for pain relief/therapy, not just for a relaxing massage. So I called late Monday night 20 minutes before their closing, and Jan the owner, was incredibly kind to find me an appt the next morning! I have been to many massage therapists, and even spent thousands on chiropractic therapy, for my neck/shoulder pain, that comes and goes. So I am very particular about my massages for pain relief - I like moderate/hard pressure. Aerita was my massage therapist and she provided just that! For a thin lady, she has very strong hands! Hands down, she is the most professional, knowledgable, and skilled therapist I've had. She knows all her muscle groups and treated my pain by massaging many different spots, not just one. I scheduled the 1.5 hour massage and she was able to give me a full body massage, but focusing on my neck and shoulders. Immediately after my appt, I felt better! Then to make matters worse, a similar pain moved into my right arm as well. I tried seeing my GP about the pain; I tried painkillers; I tried a chiropractor (10 visits) to no relief whatsoever! Finally, I made an appointment with Carla Gorsky at The Peaceful Heart. I was feeling so much better after two visits, but after three visits the pain was gone! Carla was able to really explore all the muscles and tissue surrounding my arm/shoulder and relieve so much pressure and pain. About two weeks ago I tweaked my knee, making it very difficult to bend my knee. I asked Carla to take a look and see what she could do. I left that session with much more movement and a lot less pain in my knee. Today (the day following our session) I was able to go to work in a busy preschool (which requires a lot of bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, etc) with ease. I can still feel a little twinge in the knee and I know I don't have full range of motion yet, but I know that I'm on the right track to wellness! I jog and participate in a bunch of varied-distance runs through the year so my muscles need a lot of work. Marc did a fantastic job of mixing PT, massage, and trigger points to give me substantial relief, esp in my back and hamstrings which were really tight. O.M.G. (This is just…read morebackground information) I met Rachelle at a business event in Monterey, California. She spent 25 minutes with me at the time doing myofascial release. While I did not feel the effects at the time I DID have the side effects Rachelle warned me about, so I was pretty sure something happened. It's now a month and a half later. She's in Illinois and I'm in California, so we are not likely to get together any time soon. Wednesday evening I had an accident and smashed my hand pretty badly in a gate. 4 hours later the pain was reaching excruciating and I posted that I'd sprained my hand and wrist on Facebook. (I don't usually post that kind of thing, so the inspiration to do so baffles me.) Within minutes Rachelle commented on my post with, "Am I holding that for you this evening?" We commented back and forth a couple times where I agreed and then I went on to look at other stuff. An hour and a half later she PMd me asking, "How's that feeling?" I gave it real thought and realized that the pain had receded significantly. I then commented that I was concerned about how it would feel in the morning (it was bedtime).
