I don't live in Roseburg - I use this gym every time I visit my mom though - and so my comparisons originate from my experiences with gyms in the Los Angeles area. Fitness First uses top quality machines, unlike the ones provided by my own gym (LA Fitness), and they are all well maintained, super clean, and given enough space so that the user is not too close to the next gym-goer. I see that there are a few low reviews on this site (mostly involving their prices or one remarking on their lack of child-care), but it's hard to believe those issues would be enough to give a low review for a gym. Have you ever checked the prices at a franchise gym? Ridiculously expensive. What my mom gets for her membership is phenomenal. She's so happy here, and every time I go (two to three times per year) they remember me and treat me like a friend. The yoga and class studio is perhaps my mom's favorite thing to do. The instructors, especially Nancy, have all become close to my mom (who is in her 70s) and I credit their work with keeping her moving and fit. We've also been to the additional annex with the crossfit equipment. So much more impressive than anything I have in LA. Also, I love the warm, friendly vibe. You're not going to get anything like that at a gym run by only by an "office manager" rather than looked after by an owner. Now that I'm home, back in LA, I felt inspired to write this extra review while getting ready to head up to my own gym, where, despite the fact that I go two or three times a week, not a single person knows my name. I really miss this place already.

I had scheduled an appointment a couple of weeks ago for 07:30 on 07/12/24. I showed up at 07:25…read moreand had been sent a text earlier asking that I check in using the text. I selected what I was told to and it took me to another check in which I selected. I went in and sat down waiting to be called. After I sat there 20 minutes I told one of the tec's when she came out to grab another person that I had checked in via my phone. She told me to go ahead and check in again using the kiosk as they were having problems with the text check-ins. I ended up waiting over 25 minutes for my scheduled appointment. When a different tech came out to get me she proceeded to tell me that I hadn't checked in until 07:42. I told her I had checked in at 07:25 on my phone, She didn't want to hear it and pretty much told me I was wrong that I needed to look at the TV screen to see if I did check-in. This is BS, I scheduled my appt, I was there 5 minutes early, I checked in using my phone and I was treated rudely. She also said they were behind. If appts are scheduled and you can see how many people will be coming for labs you need to be prepared with adequate staff! If I didn't dislike Mercy Medical Center so much I'd get my labs done there! Oh, and I was late to work to boot!
