This is a beautiful vineyard. You would never know you're in Mexico. Just when I thought Mexico couldn't possibly be known for good tequila, mezcal, beer AND wine, this place proved me wrong. For years I had been saying I was not a fan of Mexican wine. And that still remains mostly true. For reds. But this place offers some fantastic whites, most notably the Inedito blend, which sells for $385 MXN as of this review (about $18 USD).
I can't speak for their reds or their food, but the grounds are very well maintained and a few picnic benches outside make for a relaxing experience.
The one thing I have to take issue with, however, is their ridiculous "deposit" policy. There are no wines by the glass for tasting. They'll let you try pretty much any wine you'd like, but be prepared to commit yourself to the bottle. In exchange for "renting" you the glasses, you have to leave an ID until you return the glasses, which is a rather tacky policy for a place as classy as this. Do they honestly think I'm going to stuff the glasses in the purse I don't carry and run off with them?
In the end, the employee who sold us the wine and took my ID forgot to give it back to me. Not realizing this until the following day, I then had to call the vineyard to have them FedEx it back to me since I live nowhere nearby and I definitely blamed them and their silly policy for the snafu. As of this review, I am still waiting for my ID. read more
