There are four rabbis, a cantor and two cantorial soloists. Music is such a part of Jewish lives and these services do not disappoint. This temple is so welcoming that I joined! There is a beautiful gift show that is open before and after services or by appointment. All purchases help Israeli artists/vendors. Everything is beautiful - of course I purchased something :)

They have great hours including weekends which makes it very convenient and we were able to drop off items when we were headed to the Publix grocery which is right next door. They have a very friendly and helpful staff and of course they give receipts if needed. As soon as we drove up, I asked for a cart which they brought to me very quickly. THey also help me unload it and get more bags and boxesThey do not sell anything here. They only accept donations, which was totally fine for my wife and myself. We were getting rid of items, not collecting more. KUDOs to the team at Goodwill Donation Center.

Arc is an organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The…read moreorganization was originally founded in the 1950s by parents of people with developmental disabilities. I was actively involved with Arc Broward from the mid 1980's until 2002 when I moved to NYC. This agency is the largest Broward organization (as far as I know) that serves people with disabilities. The scope of their services is broad including residential, adult daycare and preschool programs, job training and placement, family counseling and on and on. One of my friends just retired after working here for years. I've got an autistic friend that still receives services and has made progress. I remember my time being active with various activities. Although they were not a top favorite nonprofit of mine there's no doubt about the enormous impact of their services for the people with disabilities in Broward County. If you move to the area and need their help make an appointment ASAP.

The Mid-Century Museum and Cultural Center is one of the three buildings owned by the Deerfield…read morebeach Historical Society. They also own a Kester Cottage, now the Museum of Black History and the Butler House which are across the street. This former mid-century modern home belonged to Robert and Martha Butler. Robert was the nephew of James D. and Alice Butler who built the 1923 home that was bequeathed to the historical society in 1977. The mid-century home has been transformed into a center for art, culture. and community gatherings. Some of the events held here include live music, art classes, films, lectures, and community meetings. There is also art gallery space. Although there wasn't anything in the gallery I loved checking out the home which is a mid-century time capsule. Mid-century design is a popular style in architecture, furniture, and graphic design from the mid-1940s to the late 1960s, It emphasizes simple, functional pieces created from natural and man-made materials like wood, plastic, and metal. If you know it you can easily spot signs of it all over the house like the uniquely colored bathrooms and the silver metal starburst on the wall. You can take tour of this house and the Butler house every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. On January 14 the Mid-Century Museum and Cultural Center is hosting the opening of Phoenix Photography "Florida Views", a photographic collection featuring the beauty of Florida. It will be running until February 21st. Other events include Driveway Fridays, a monthly concert, the Saturday Lecture Series, International Film Night, and art classes for children and adults. The Deerfield Beach Historical Society offers so much and I always enjoy catching up with them when I can.
