I received an okay manicure and pedicure. The positives were that I was accepted as a walk-in and…read morethat the gel polish has lasted pretty well for a week plus. There just wasn't a lot of communication or chat. I felt like I was expected to know what to do - what type of polish to choose and where and how to position my hands as they were tapped and repositioned over and over. My fingernails and toenails were bumped with the LED dryers several times. The polish just wasn't evenly coated as I can see through the polish in several places. It seemed like my cuticles received a far more thorough trimming than I've experienced elsewhere. However, one thumbnail was filed quite unevenly -longer on one side than the other on the same nail- and cuticle oil was only applied to one hand. I didn't think to pay attention to how my big toes were trimmed down the sides at the time, so I hope ingrown nails don't occur, as I cut them straight across at home to avoid that chronic issue from reoccurring. The pedicure was more enjoyable than the manicure. Colorful, pretty shapes (of soap?) thrown into the foot bath which dissolved. Calluses mostly removed. Nice scrub and some sort of warming gel applied to my legs. The warmth was a little alarming since there was no explanation of what was being done. The massage chair was nice but almost too intense. Hand and leg massage during both services. I have dried polish on my toe cuticles. My manicure was performed by a man and pedicure by a woman. The manicure table felt dusty which I soon realized was remnants of the last client's nails. Maybe more than one? So, it wasn't clean like I would have hoped. Only one other client was present and was receiving a pedi while my manicure was done. She left before it was my turn at a different foot station. Overall, I'm glad I treated myself and had it done, but for what I paid, I think it could have been executed better. Some conversation and background music would go along way. It was a little awkward. I'm not sure that I would return. If I do, I'll know what to expect and to speak up. Should I have to though? There was a price list of sorts on the wall, but prices were not discussed beforehand. I was not asked whether I wanted gel on my hands, so I'm assuming the color I chose happened to be gel? I did get asked if I wanted gel on my toes when my manicure was almost over though. I had the same polish on both, so that had me a bit confused in the end. I, typically, would prefer to do my own nails, but this was far quicker and got me ready for an event. It's worth the visit if you're short on time and you don't mind spending $65 before tip for imperfect results. I've received far, far worse in the past elsewhere. It's not something I often do. It was still a treat despite everything that was sub par. This was my first time getting gel, and I liked that I didn't have to wait hours for my nails to dry as I fear damaging them.

I really wanted to like this salon, but instead, I deeply regret allowing them to touch my hair…read more I'd been wanting to find a new regular stylist & salon I'd love. Some months back, someone I knew got her hair done here. It being beautiful, I filed that away. I called one afternoon & no answer. Left a message. My call was not returned. (Frustratingly, seems to be an ongoing theme in this area.) Earlier this week, I happened to be right near the shop & went inside. Empty except for one woman who turned out to be the owner. She apologized that I hadn't received a callback & said the phone was funny because it's a cell. She explained that each individual stylist set prices. Style extra. She took my number & handed me a business card. Card was cute but square & not handy in a slot. I noted they have no website. Not expecting much, I was surprised to receive a call maybe 15 minutes later from the owner. She set up an appointment with a stylist named Molly. My long hair & I headed to the salon. Lady with me & myself were 20 minutes early & decided to go ahead and go inside because it was rather hot. Two stylists were working on two women as we entered. We were not acknowledged in any way. No "Hello." Nothing. Seating consists of two clear chairs separated by the door. Essentially sat in the front windows on either side. I joked to lady with me & waved to her behind the glass. She became hot sitting in the sun. They should utilize a bench they had as extra seating. I was anxious wondering which stylist would be mine. One had black hair pulled back with chunky poorly bleached orange strands. The other was blonde with rbf. It turned out the younger dark-haired girl was Molly. She finally asked my name after her client paid & left. We were not acknowledged for 30 minutes nor by a third stylist later. I sat in Molly's chair past my appointment time once she cleaned up. I said I wanted my hair cut below the shoulder & long enough to pull it up. I kept trying to make conversation because a salon visit is also an experience. It's usually like therapy but more fun. Turns out there is nothing fun about this place. Assuming what I wanted was heard, I chatted a bit as she sectioned my hair with clips and into a few little ponytails. My friend had to step out. By the time she returned, she saw how short my hair was. Awkward situation. After a few minutes, I spoke up. "That's quite a bit shorter than what I asked." She said she thought I wanted it above my shoulder. No. I asked if I'd still be able to pull it up. She thought so except for the ultra short pieces she cut above my neck underneath. WHY I have NO idea. SMH. I just tried to be gracious about it & remarked "It's not like you can glue it back on, but..." I thought MAYBE it'd end up being cute. Mirror wasn't great. I was sat far too low. Never adjusted height of the stool. On top of that, the hand mirror was small and flimsy. Not easy to see. What really baffles me is that I was given a dry cut. She did ask if I wanted a shampoo, but I didn't think I needed one since I just did. When I'd already washed in the past, others would wet my hair with a spray bottle. So, I thought maybe it was because it hadn't been wetted & not styled that the back was unevenly flipping up and outward. She pointed it out and said if it was still lying funny or if I wanted layers to come back. I was in a bit of shock, and of course, far too polite. The price was extremely cheap which was also an alarm after the fact. I regret tipping her at all let alone the good tip I gave. The longer I look at my hair and sit with it, the more infuriated I become & the more I hate this cut. The angling is sloppy & almost razored or burnt-looking. Unless I do a deep part on the right, I have a long four-inch strand of hair right at the front! This isn't right for wavy hair. It puffs out on the sides and at the back. It's like a bad wig in a triangle shape. I don't know how to quite accurately describe this horror that belongs on an old cartoon character. I rewashed, added product, and tried to style it. Nope! It's a mess. To top it off, it is not only above shoulder it is CHIN length and uneven. AFTER my haircut when she asked if I'd like to donate my hair, I learned she cut off 15 inches! I've done at least ten before but OMG. I wanted my hair one length except for being a bit angled away from my face at the front, but with this length, horrible. No suggestions were made & no styling offered even for extra $. It definitely needs to be fixed, but I will not be returning here to chance it looking even worse. I won't allow anyone at this shop to touch one hair on my head again. I'd call to complain, but who would answer the phone?! I initially thought they were just busy, but this is the deadest shop I've ever visited. Quiet but when they did have music on, it was bad rap music. Like much of downtown Peru, it's an absolute fail at customer service or being cool. Worst haircut ever! Stay away!
