We were the first on the boat and I immediately picked the perfect spot in front of the boat and enjoyed the sun. Once everyone was on board Louise welcomed us again and gave us a brief introduction about the tour. She would come back every now and then and point out sights on the tour. She was extremely pleasant, always around for questions, and simply a great conversationalist. Nunzio, who is not only the Captain of the boat, but also the cook, prepared the most amazing and authentic Italian lunch: we had lovely appetizers, including fantastic cheese, and meats followed by home made pasta. Of course, everyone had seconds because it was so good. If you have the chance, you should take a look in the kitchen: it's just one stovetop, but somehow Nunzio was able to cook pasta that was better than any other place. We stopped at multiple secluded places, enough time for everyone to go swimming, snorkeling or just hanging out on the boat and tanning. There's also room in the back that's covered, so if you need a break from the sun you definitely have the chance to hide. This trip was definitely the highlight of our vacation, and if we're back in Sardinia we will be back again on the Antares. Thanks Nunzio and Louise for a truly memorable event.

I was able to make an appointment for dolphin watching and snorkeling. The staff we were paired with enhanced the journey 10 fold. Serena and Danielle (hope spelled correctly) offered a great snorkel and vessel captain and marine biologist tour. Their personalities fed off each other with wit and jokes. Both included the guests in each topic for a set your to feel really personalized. We snorkeled off isle Figarolo, the beach where scenes of the Little Mermaid was filmed, and watched dolphins throughout. They emphasize watching dolphins in the wild is more humane than many of the aquariums that allow personal interaction and photos. For example, communication ability fades, increased stress, and starvation tactics to train. All in all, the tour was about 4 hours. The water is unbeatable and the snorkeling is great. The better option is only snorkeling on a marine protected island. I am saving that for next time. Want to go? Me too.

During our hour and half tour - (there are longer itineraries as well) - we saw the amazing Cliffs of Bonifacio, the Napoleon Cave (one cannot enter anymore due to erosion but amazing sight anyway); red lighthouse perched on limestone cliffs; small beaches only reachable by sea; and more. The Captain (sorry forgot his name) was so engaging and knowledgeable, as was his young crew. They held out fish to summon gulls, took pictures if requested and explained the scenery in a leisurely friendly way. There's a small glass bottom where one can see local fish as well. We were lucky enough to have great weather on our trip and the group was large but we didn't feel overly crowded. Advance tickets necessary, can be purchased online. A wonderful trip, highly recommended!

The sea displays beautiful shades of turquoise, and even when the beach is busy, it is still possible to find your own space. I also appreciated the natural surroundings, which remain largely untouched by excessive development. I spent several enjoyable hours here, and it is definitely one of the beaches on the Costa Smeralda that I would recommend to every visitor.

I found Il Regolo rated #1 on TripAdvisor, but couldn't find it on Google or Google Maps. We saw how highly rated it was on TripAdvisor and headed down the beach to check it out based on viewing their website pictures and the satellite pic on Google Maps. Boy are we glad we went to the trouble. Their website says they are open 09:30am-11:30pm, but they do close during the siesta - opening for dinner at 9:00pm. We spoke to the owner at 8:15pm about dinner and were told to come back at 9:00pm and they would have a table for six waiting for us. When we came back, they had a beautiful inside table overlooking the beach saved and our waiter immediately welcomed us and got us started on a Sardinian red by the bottle - it was delicious and we eventually ordered two more. He recommended a seafood appetizer, but we were all interested in cured meat and formaggia. On his suggestion, we accepted a selection of local ingredients and received two surfboard-sized platters of meats, cheeses, olives and fruit sauces as garnish. It was all ludicrously good. I was the only one of us to order primi piatti and had a grilled octopus and potato plate that was very good. Our secondi piatti selections were three grilled pork entrees, two gnocci and sausage entrees and one spicy rigatoni entree. Each were so good that we were pushing samples on each other saying "you HAVE to try this". One of our group that isn't a wine drinker was ordering Gray Goose vodka and tonics that came in heavy American pours with a ton of ice - which got nods of admiration from all of us. I saw how good they looked and had one as a nightcap. We were all incredibly satisfied with our meals and didn't think we left enough room for dessert, but our waiter brought out - unannounced - a ricotta cheese and honey desert for the table. The bill was not cheap, but was an incredible value for the experience we had. I can't rave enough how awesome this meal and our total experience at Il Regolo was. I don't give five-star reviews. I give Il Regolo five stars. It really was that good. We are definitely going back before we leave this weekend.
