They were very busy but the owner agreed to take a look at it if I brought it by the next morning. The next morning I brought it in and they immediately started checking it for me. He decided to google "mobile mechanic" and found SS Marine. Brandon, the owner & operator of SS Marnie, called him the same day and was at the lake the next day to troubleshoot and diagnose the problem. He quickly figured out it was the starter. This was a genuinely positive experience from the start. One of the key reasons for this was due to how reassuring Redline Rob was right away. Before he even saw the car, he expressed a calm confidence that the job could be done and that the vehicle could be restored to proper operating condition. That set the tone. I had already narrowed the issue down to the engine, which had been showing signs of trouble before the eventual failure. It's a Kia (a make known for certain gasoline direct injection challenges) and I'll be honest, I hadn't always stayed on top of maintenance milestones. The unfortunate result was an engine breakdown (something I had yet to experience in my 35 years of driving). Their team handled everything efficiently. They arranged towing to their facility and even absorbed that cost into the overall price of the repair. From there, they diagnosed the issue, sourced a proper replacement engine, and completed the entire job in about a week and a half. The difference is remarkable. It genuinely feels like driving a new car again. Included in the price of engine replacement, they also offer a four-year warranty on the engine replacement. FAIR WARNING: this warranty is contingent on routine inspection and maintenance, which is completely reasonable given the quality of service and the affordability they offer. I hope I will never need another emergency engine replacement, but it's reassuring to know this option exists. In many cases, it can be a smarter path than purchasing a new vehicle. In many cases, a far more intelligent option is to invest in the vehicle you already have, while learning how to extend its lifespan.
