An FLGS *and* it has great prices? What a rare combination! I discovered this place in the past year and enjoyed chatting with Matt while picking up my game. An enthusiast himself, he loves to talk about board games :) So, next time you want to get that game IMMEDIATELY and don't want to pay MSRP, come to BSG! Note: You have to order everything online and you can specify store pickup. Or they charge $5 for delivery within Vegas. read more

Ordered from them. I made a mistake on the zip code. Tried contacting them multiple times over the next 10 days with no response. Once I did get a response, I was called names, told I was stupid, and generally treated like an asshole by Dean@boardingschoolgames.com. I placed my order on July3, 2026. As of July 27 2026 I have not received anything, and was blocked by Dean. read more

Boarding School Games - Dean's response to 3 unanswered emails. - Hobby Shops Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

From my Google Maps Review: Original review 7mo ago: Terrible company that doesn't respond to messages and will just send you your orders late as heck. Update after reply: The reply not only shows how untimely these scammers are, but that they are willing to lie. There was no lead time advertised when I purchased the product, even if there was, a decent company would still reply even if they are just repeating FAQs. I sincerely hope Boarding School Games gets permanently shut down and sued to hell for all the customers they have scammed...and believe me it is A LOT who have had similar experiences or even worse. read more

They are a scam. They pretend to have games in stock with good prices and let you order them. Once your order is paid for they change it and eventually (can take a while) send only the games that are not priced as well and will not respond to their customer emails. Still have not heard back from customer service. No phone number just a personal email that must be slammed with complaints. read more

My credit card was charged immediately however till today there is no update on my order whether its shipped or when I will be getting the games. Avoid this scam store! they do not have inventory and will ignore your request for cancellations so that they can charge you 15% for restocking an item they dont even have. search this company on reddit and see how many negative reviews their are. There is a reason this company lost its brick-and-mortar location. Horrible and unethical business practices. The owner argues with people online like a middle schooler. MULTIPLE people(20+) have complained how the store has outright stolen their money, and if you challenge them for a refund, they actually charge you to be reimbursed for the money you gave them with nothing rendered in return. I think the BBB needs to investigate them. read more

This business is a complete scam and it seems like it's run by some kind of incompetent A-hole teenager. For 10 days we never received any shipping or tracking information and when we became concerned it was a scam my daughter reached out and requested a refund. We received a one-liner: "what part of the above do you not understand?" Can't believe it. We've experienced poor customer service before but this business actually has the worst I've ever seen. Moreover, they refunded us part of our payment for an item that we never received! They kept 15% without us ever receiving the product and without providing us with any information on whether we would even receive the item. This is a scam. Watch out. read more

Terrible customer service that stinks of a scam. I am a small business owner myself and I understand how pre-orders and shipping times work. I understand how to manage customer expectations. I also know it's annoying to receive emails from customers asking about their stuff, so I felt a little guilty when I sent an email asking about a book I had pre-ordered. I acknowledged in the email that I knew it was a pre-order and I wasn't expected an exact date, I was just hoping for a general estimate. It's a decent business practice to offer this courtesy. You can always under-promise and over-perform to keep your customers happy. The reply I got from Dean was dismissive and offered no information. I replied and let him know that I really wasn't looking for specifics. I just wanted a general time frame. Like most customers, I'm just looking for some reassurance that I will get what I ordered EVENTUALLY. I let him know that a competitor was specifying a two month time frame and that it was reasonable of me to ask for similar information. Dean's response seemed defensive and hostile, despite my reassurance that I was not trying to demand a specific date. Before I could respond, he cancelled my order telling me that it was cancelled because I'd failed to place the order with their special "zbag" credits. I went back to read over the specifics of their "zbag" credits. I'm highly suspcious that these zbag credits are a way to avoid giving people refunds when they're unable to actually get the items they have on "backorder". Once you purchase the credits, you won't be able to get a refund when they fail to uphold their end of the deal. You'll just be stuck with credits and be forced to buy something else from their store. I replied to Dean and said, "Oh I thought that scammy credit thing was optional." Dean replied: "Yes the scammy credit thing protects us from scammy customers so no harm no foul." I'm not sure how forcing their customers to convert their currancy to credits protects them from scams? Not a single game store in my area (there are dozens) does anything like this. Buyer beware. Definitely don't buy any credits. read more

Boarding School Games - Great way to treat customers. - Hobby Shops Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

Love, love, love this spot! My friends and I have been getting into more board games lately but you can only play what you've got so many times. Plus going into Walmart or any other place looking for something new is kind of hit or miss...and it's mostly miss because it's all the same stuff or mostly tailored to kids. Turns out there's a board game shop to help with this conundrum! The place is super laxed right now, but I'm eager to see it in full swing. Apparently they have "classes" on certain nights that you can come in and learn new games or honestly probably just meet some new people and have a good time! I don't know about you, but there has been a time or two when I didn't have enough people to play certain amazing games and I feel like I finally have a work around!! Yaaaassss!! Anyway, Emily, one of the shop owners, pointed out that there's "elementary" games on this side (easy), "middle school/JR high" games on that side (medium thought), and "high school" games (harder, longer, more intricate) towards the back...AND HOW FREAKING CUTE IS THAT!! Ok...ready for the best part? YOU CAN PLAY ANY OF THEM!! Yes!! Seriously!! You can try before you buy and wait for it...you can increase your bad a**ery because you can TOTALLY learn the tougher games right there in the shop! Hello?! Boarding SCHOOL!! You get it?! Anyway, I can't wait to have another game night here or honestly just get in on one of their classes! Not to toot my own horn but I'm actually kind of good at board games... Challenge me! Let's play!! read more

I made an order of an in-stock game. They charged my cc but never shipped the item. After I emailed them they took a week to get back to me with a notice saying they didn't have the item afterall and canceled the order. I wrote back saying I had informed my credit card and asked for my mone back and I would not be doing business with them again. They responded by sending my a very negative email complete with profanity. I now have seen hundreds of complaints of them not having what they claim and having very slow shipping as well as tesponding to emails. They are very good at charging your credit card though. I did not having any trouble getting my money back however when I sent a copy of their email complete with profanity my credit card agreed to a complete refund. read more

Ghosted me for a week after missing two delivery windows for the order. I finally said that if I hadn't heard by a certain time I would have to give up; they responded that they "don't do ultimatums" and cancelled my order. I love buying discounted games from BSG! I am an avid player and I make lists of games to buy once I save up enough money and find a great deal. Over the past couple years I have placed 5 orders consisting of a combined 41 items and $840 of merchandise. Never once have I been ripped off. My last shipment just arrived which took about 3 weeks to deliver. I am more than happy to wait a little longer to save around 40% off other online stores. I don't order backordered items, but most of the items I choose are listed with "no rush processing" because they are in an outside warehouse. I think these are items that they order from their supplier and they ship them to me once all of them are received from their vendor. It's a great deal for me and it saves BSG from having to buy games they aren't sure will sell right away, The reason for the 15% surcharge is likely to cover their costs if they buy items to fill an order that gets cancelled for some reason. When that happens, they need to store a game until another customer wants to buy it. Perhaps it would be nice if they were a larger operation that can afford to staff more employees and warehouse tons of games. I like their business practice and capitalize on their deep discounts. I'm sorry other reviews are negative, but I feel their expectations are for an Amazon type of fulfillment from a small startup trying to offer customers an affordable alternative. Keep up the great work, Boarding School Games read more

I ordered a game "Sleeping Gods" on 9/20/2021. After waiting 10 months I asked for a refund, and was told I would be charged a 15% fee if I wanted to cancel. Total charge $79, price today on Amazon $99. I understand they are wanting to sell at a great price, but the price isn't great if you have to wait a year for something that you can pay $20 more and have it in two days. One star review due to charging me 15% for holding my money for a year. Worst ROI. read more

Dreadful Ordered on 9-7 and they've completely ghosted us. Have to go through American Express now to get our moment. Terrible. Buyer beware. read more

Sadly, I have to add my negative experience to the others who've placed an online order recently. I've ordered from here once in the past and considered them a legit place to buy board games for a very good price. This time, I placed my order of supposedly available items and received no updates after 3 weeks. No response to my email simply asking for a shipping update. Ultimately, I did as others did and received a refund from my credit card company with no hassle. Such a shame. If they're no longer able to ship items or respond to customers, the website needs to be taken down so everyone stops wasting their time. read more

Tried my best to avoid Amazon and support small business. Ordered almost 2 weeks ago so my order is already late. An order tracking email finally got sent to me after over of waiting and has said that UPS does not have my package for a few days now. As a thirty-year old woman who played DnD in high school (and not again until recently), I forgot how complex it is! I'm having a ton of fun rediscovering this hobby, but I also am such a n00b. Do the young folk still say n00b? Anyway, I had to go find new materials. I went to another shop in town and I felt so out of place! They weren't rude, but I obviously didn't know enough for them to want to help me. I didn't buy anything from that shop and drove to Boarding School Games as a last ditch effort to get my own dice before my game the following day. They were all in the store playing a game, and I was sure it'd be another situation where I felt like I was bothering them and not worth their time. I made my husband go in to ask if they were open They were! A gentleman got up from his game and took us to their second shop next door. He answered my question, and helped me pick out dice. He was all around so kind and helpful! He said they do monthly (weekly? I can't remember) DnD lessons for beginners. I have a baby so I haven't found a babysitter to make it to one yet, but I will soon! They were such genuine people, I can't wait to go back. I'm very happy I stumbled upon their shop. They are experts, but if you are a beginner they are willing and happy to assist. I'm confident any level player would feel comfortable here. read more

BEWARE: DON'T BUY BACKORDERED GAMES **I'm editing my last review as the company finally replied to my public review after ignoring multiple private emails 1) My main issue with this company is that when I requested an exchange on my backordered item, the company never responded. I wrote to them 3x over 2.5 weeks for the exchange, and they did not respond. At that point, they had my game and my money, which is theft. They finally initiated the exchange after I mentioned it publicly. 2) Their return policy is terrible, and it's not clear from their statement that you are expected to lose 15% of your entire order: the game, your shipping, and any extras (like rush order) that you paid for. It's one thing for a small business to expect a small return on the game, but it's another to expect a return on shipping money they never used and extras like rushing an order they never had to place. Please note: you can exchange the game for another one, and they did let me know that. 3) What if they never get your game in? Too bad! I waited over 240 days for my game, and the policy was still valid, DESPITE THE FACT THE GAME WAS AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE FOR MONTHS. They failed to procure the game, but I would still lose 15% on everything for a refund. 4) No updates/offers for buying used. The moment they had high quality used copies available, they should have reached out about them, and they they never did. read more

Great deals and customer service! Quick caveat: This experience is purely based on an online purchase. During this pandemic I have taken the time to rekindle my passion for board games. For those in the know, it can be hobby that becomes increasingly pricey. So imagine my surprise during a bout of online window shopping when I found a game at a pretty competitive price. I was initially suspicious of a hidden drawback, so I decided to call in. I ended up connecting with Matt to learn more about the nature of my pre-order. It turned out to be legit. One of the neat policies about Boarding School Games is that out-of-stock orders are eligible for a full-refund until shipment. It's a store policy that allows you to lock-in a reservation while still having the flexibility to keep looking for deals. Just call in and refer to the order number. I knew my particular game would take a little longer due to the game company making reprints, so ordering here was a nice flex option. About a month later, I called to check-in on the progress of the store order. Matt checked the log of pending distributor orders and found out that my game was coming to the store that week! Matt spoke about his own interest in my chosen game and thanked me for the patronage. The package arrived to my house a couple days later and was in mint condition. Re-browsing the selection, I can say that if you do your homework you can find some great deals on games at BSG. Given my great experience, I hope one day I can physically make the trek inside its doors. read more

Boarding School Games - Thank you card - Hobby Shops Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

Came into Boarding School Games for the third time tonight and I don't even live in Vegas! I've been here a few times and feel so bad I haven't written a review yet but I don't even know where to start! Matt, one of the owners, has been amazing every time I've come in! I've been to a few different game shops in California, Portland and New York but they have all been missing a lot. Either they've tried to be the hipster game place focusing on weird games that only has appeal for people who love a specific franchise or they've mainly focused on games like Magic or Star Wars Armada which I understand the need for both because these places to need to make money somehow. However, this is where I think Boarding School Games comes in and lets in the masses. Their store is very peculiar in that yes there are games spread out everywhere with tables to play on but there also are no price tags. At first I thought it was a pay to play type thing but nope, Matt explained to me that he just wanted a place so that people can come together and play games and grow with the community. I asked, "so people can play any of the games that have been opened?" Matt answered, "nope, you can basically play ANY game in the store even if its unopened! We'll open it up for you!" I asked again, "so you guys let people try it out and then they can purchase it afterwards?" Matt answered, "kinda, we let people try it out and then they can order anything they want AND I'll try to give you the best deal I can get!" In disbelief, I chatted with him for another hour on games and he gave me so many suggestions! I asked for games for two players for me and my wife and he had suggestions right away. Then I asked him for games that can try to keep my grandma sharp and he had more suggestions! This place is great and can't believe I found this gem! Still not sure how they stay in business but glad that there are good people in the world that are trying to make it a better place with something as wholesome as board games. If you are nervous about getting into board games. If you are interested in party games. Or Co OP games. Or games like Dungeons and Dragons. Or games that help to see if you even might like D&D. Or New age games that require apps on your phone (super fun!) For any of these see the guys and girls at Boarding School Games! Not sure what more I can say but this is one of my favorite business I have ever come across! read more

My husband and I stumbled in here and it was so adorable! The owners were super nice and picked out a game and taught us how to play it. They even played a few different games with us. It was so refreshing to spend quality time with my husband without looking at our phones a single time! It's completely free to come into the store and play a game and all the games are for sale, both in store and online. We came back with children the next time and the owners picked out some age-appropriate games for them to play and taught the kids how to play the game. The kids loved Emily because she really spiced up the game with her adlib and personality. read more

Not normally one to write reviews, but this is worth it. I'd been frequenting this show for a couple years and enjoyed the discounts. But the owners have always been rude and conceited towards there customers, do not communicate with there customers, and make it difficult to get in product. You cannot call the store, if you don't prepay for your product online, when you go to the store to pick it up you're treated rudely because they have to find it, and u less it's the owner, nobody knows where anything is or what's going on. But hey, they sell things at a discount they shouldn't and then complain when the reps catch them. read more
